Worth a Read: If you liked the vicious spectacle of the Mr. Plinkett review of the Star Wars films, you may like the Hellman-Zanotti Report, the actual appeals court ruling that ripped the Knox conviction to shreds and set her free (several years ago, before proceedings were started again).

It's a savage thing that leaves the original prosecution and judge with few tatters of dignity left.

My gf was in Italy years ago and a bunch of Italian men started coming on way too strong. She told them she was a DA and they scurried away like cockroaches. They are really afraid of prosecutors b/c of their power in Italy.

Wouldn't this have actually been triple jeopardy? I thought she was found innocent, retried and got that dismissed, and then retried again which this is the final result. I could be wrong though.

Amanda Knox is and always has been totally innocent. The entire "case" against her was based on the fact that some Italian police guy thought she "didn't act appropriately" when they were starting to investigate.

The reason she "didn't act appropriately" is that she had no clue she would ever be charged, since she knew nothing about what happened.

But being flippant is a capital offense in Italy, apparently.

Then the haters piled one, mostly because they hate people who are physically cute, and their envy becomes a reason to destroy her. And the Brits wanted a scapegoat for the death of one of their own.

But this is justice. There never was the slightest scrap of valid evidence against her.

In a world gone insane, this is a refreshing sane moment.

Now she was re-retried and declared innocent again. Under American law, once she was acquitted, the prosecution would not be able to appeal the verdict. It looks like under Italian law, the prosecution would be able to keep appealing until they got a favorable court. So, in effect, you could be tried and retried and retried until the prosecutors got a verdict that was favorable to them, no matter what the evidence shows.
The prosecutors in this case were shown to pretty inept, but they kept pushing their version of events, evidence be damned. It appears that they even went so far as to invent evidence to prove their case.
If that doesn't scare the shit out of you, then nothing will.
Like I said upthread. This is the same judicial system that convicted six scientists of not predicting an earthquake.

699 The most obscene to me is that Rudy Guede testified that he was having consensual sex with Meredith. The young woman he raped... strangled... and stabbed. He tarnished her memory after the fact with the prosecutors' blessing.

The prosecutors got him a lighter sentence to say he did it, but he claimed he did it as a patsy for Amanda and Raffaelo, who were into witchcraft or whatever.

All the Knox truthers can't get over this. They know Guede did it. The prosecutors admit he did it. Guedge admitted he did it.

They're special little cherry is that Rafaello and Amanda were in on it. Just because Amanda had a hankerin' to do it.

High Diving Horse, if you are still reading this, in all seriousness, reach out and get some help. If you're a religious person try talking to your priest or pastor, if not see if you can speak with a psychologist or some kind of therapist, because you are not well.

The human mind can become seriously deranged if a person is isolated from normal contact with other human beings and it can take you to some very dark places. There's no shame in getting help, it's no different than seeing a doctor for a flu bug you can't shake.
