2 Something that was mentioned in the podcast but not expounded upon: The media criticizes Obama's advisers but not him.

This is not an accident and I predicted it. Obama's like a king who ascended the throne as a young boy. Even if he is a vicious psychopath who beheads his own family on a whim, the people will just say that he's a good kid and he's surrounded by terrible advisers.

They treat him as if he were a special-needs child.

Oh, it won't just be the cashiers out of work.

I went to a Chiles recently (long story), and they had little tablets on your table that offered games for $1.99, let you order drinks, and pay your bill. It's only a matter of time before waiters are only seen in hipster establishments.

The thing is... this is coming anyways. But the agitating for increased wages and increased cost of employment (including health insurance, sick time, vaca time, etc) will lead to an earlier adoption of computerized services among large chains. And pretty soon most other businesses will be forced by market pressure in to doing the same.

It's not just Chili's where I've seen that. Applebee's is doing the same thing. I believe you can order, play games, pay your bill. Pretty soon you'll be able to do that completely and the only human that you have to interact with will be the server that puts your food on the table. And that function could be performed by robots in the next five to ten years.

I know, without these drugs they might kill themselves. But with these drugs they are killing a lot of people. Then they kill themselves.

It's past time for a reappraisal of them. The long term side effects are brutal and a huge percentage of Americans are taking them.

Pet peeve. Sorry.

Those jobs serve a useful purpose for teenagers. They're good "starter" jobs. I'd hate to see them disappear.

The real problem is that too many people have taken them who have no intent of moving on to a "real" job that pays a decent amount of money.

Oh yeah, I know. Karl Denninger at the Market Ticker has written about them many times.

One time my doctor wanted me to start taking Chantix in an effort to quit smoking. I read about the potential side effects and it made my hair stand on end. No thanks. I'll take my chances with lung cancer.

I'm very curious to learn whether that co-pilot was taking some sort of psychiatric drug.
