If Israel strikes first, it may actually be a limited war, assuming Egypt and the Sauds agree to sit on their hands and any other Arabs who get uppity about it.
If Iran leads off...well, we'll see how good Israel's ABM systems really are. After that, either one end or both ends of the Middle East will be nothing but smoking holes.

I used to live next door to a town that had the highest murder rate in
the country, Poplar,MT. It never made the record books because the
population wasn't high enough to be statistically accurate.
Nevertheless, the was a lot of murdering goin on. I would compare it to

I'm just pointing out all M'chelle did was hold up an ambiguous sign. Normal people read into it that she was advocating saving the girls from their evil muslim oppressors. But the sign does not acutally say that. If one assumes that the Obamas support muslim causes, (a view with increasing amounts of evidence)then a different reading of the sign is that these girls need to be returned to their muslim overlords.
A more cynical view is that posing with a sign is an easy way to appear to care about something without acutally having to do something about which you are advocating.

Think I didn't leave only due to circumstances. So, a couple of pathetically unimpressive affirmative action airheads (the constitution is a "charter of negative liberties") were about to soil the WH (and look how bad it has been), where at that time the boss read 60+ books a year (real books, not crap). So the Coastal Clueless were just tickled with themselves for mocking the smart, well-read, serious guy in celebration of the fourth-rate ignoramus psycho.
It's the accumulation of things like this that has left me viewing most of our society, esp. the "educated" part, with contempt and indifference. Not my countrymen.

That's nothing that some ambitious construction projects couldn't fix. Just make an artificial moon out of belt asteroids that has a similar mass ratio with Mars as Luna does to Earth. It'd be one hell of a mega-engineering project, but it's possible.
The tidal stress of a moon would cause heat and friction that would restart the planet's cooling core, and as a bonus, restore the magnetic field and end the problem of atmospheric stripping, enabling us to attempt to make changes to the atmosphere.

Just make an artificial moon out of belt asteroids that has a similar
mass ratio with Mars as Luna does to Earth. It'd be one hell of a
mega-engineering project, but it's possible.
The tidal stress of a moon would cause heat and friction that would
restart the planet's cooling core, and as a bonus, restore the magnetic
field and end the problem of atmospheric stripping, enabling us to

Yes, and from what I understand, it's a French prosecutor who is claiming that the co-pilot intentionally crashed the plane.
You know the saying, "If the only tool you have is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail."
I'd say that a prosecutor would by nature tend to be predisposed to assume criminal activity.
They haven't found the flight data recorder yet. So I think it's premature to be making definitive pronouncements.
Yes, what evidence is available so far does seem to point to the co-pilot. But let's let the investigators do their jobs. That can take months, especially when a plane has been turned into confetti.

The younger one said he couldn't get a drink first time in LA.
I recall thinking - "hmmm, that's, uh, interesting - someone 20 years old flying a plane with 350 people aboard, hmmmm".
At that time Brit Air or somebody had a direct-from-high-school training program. So two years after your prom, you're flying jumbo jets (right-seater, to be sure, but still ....)

Think everyone's missing the point.
Young men are prominent in combat roles for lots of reasons.
But it's silly - and completely unrelated - to not recognize the value of having an older, experienced, 25,000-hour senior captain in the left seat of a trans-Pacific jumbo.
It's not possible to exceed - even to match? - my level of respect and fascination WRT combat vets. Yet, quite logically, I'd prefer gray hair in my airline captain, my cardiologist, or my gunsmith (if I had the latter two, that is).

Eh. There's a reason I rarely ever link to Gateway Pundit. I've been burned a few too many times by GP's blog posts not being supported by the source link and sometimes even being contradicted by it.
This seems to be a case of a sketchy German source being linked by a loosey goosey blog. Now this doesn't mean the story isn't true but I'm not going to invest any time or concern in it until more reputable sources back it up.

It seems to be have been planned. He was acting perfectly normal (according to the audio recorded conversation between the pilots) and then as soon as the pilot left the cockpit with the door shut and locked behind him, the descent commenced.
So the "snapping" doesn't appear to be the case. I suspect he left a note or message somewhere.

But with the suicide crashes adding up (EgyptAir, SilkAir, now this, just off the top of my head), perhaps some changes are headed our way on flight deck access, lone pilots at the controls, etc. Tough to square all the circles of 9/11 security, suicidal pilot security, and so on.

The Hat is not around tonight, but a few weeks ago I toured the nuke test museum in Vegas. Very well done. I forget the name of the artillery test, but they had the dummy round simulator or other elments of that shot on display.
I've always thought that the ultimate time to be alive for an engineer/scientist with nukyler/splodey stuff inclinations would have been the 1950s/60s. Basically an unlimited budget, with half the world's geography and most of the world's technical and material support at your disposal.

Part of the appeal of Buckley is his understanding, and mockery, of the fact that people vote irrationally in many cases, and there is not a damn thing he, as great as he was, or us, could (can)do about it.
The back of WFB's book The Unmaking of a Mayor about his NY Mayoral campaign is entirely a testament to this fact, and he points out time and time again in his columns the same lame Democrat slurs about the rich and taxes and Republicans hating children et. al. will never cease, and are sadly effective.
Especially in academia, for obvious reasons of (as Buckely called it in On The Firing Line) hubris, "all but unadulterated."

I watched a couple of minutes into the intro. The first and biggest problem is that the most disposable city in the entire United States is Washington, D.C. -- in fact, it's the only target that comes to mind (with the possible exception of Hollywood or Wall Street) that leaves the nation stronger, more ready, more able, and more competent to do what needs to be done after its destruction.
I would be far more worried about what the current crew of idiots in DC might do after Atlanta got nuked than what the nation might do if DC got nuked.

The initial pressure wave would blow windows into shrapnel -- it would make every kind of sense to be under a desk for that. Of course, that arrives at the speed of sound.....if you were unfortunate enough to experience the effects that arrived at the speed of light, you were most likely toast.

I too did the desk drills as a kid in the 70s. I grew up on navy installations during that time.
Even at the age of 7, 8, I knew a desk wasn't going to protect me.

There is a little memorial in the capitol for those who perished on Flight 93 on 9/11. It essentially says, "thank you for saving our butts." I have to say that I'm terribly conflicted about it, being that it does, in fact, honor those who perished -- and are martyrs, thereby.......and those who organized and carried out resistance -- who are heroes. And it calls them out by name to honor their memory -- which is all to the good. But it still comes across as smarmy and self-serving. They didn't do it to save the loathsome parasites infesting the capitol, they did it because they were Americans and weren't going to sit-by during a foreign-sourced terrorist attack like it was a ride at Disneyland.

I found a bum dead on my porch one morning (I really truly and sincerely hope it was natural causes that killed him but the police never got back to me on that point) and just barely missed witnessing a triple homicide at the gas station and laundromat across the street from me.
I am very glad in my new place not to have to worry about stray gunfire.

I used live in one those neighborhoods in college. I slept with a .32 automatic under my pillow as the local denizens apparentlythought if the back door wasn't bolted in meant "come on in and loot."
I solved the problem by commuting and paying higher rent in the suburbs.
