Busy. Been drinking. Not interested in your complaints. Just be glad you're not getting a punishment ONT. Or my oft threatened Yoko Ono Retrospective Week.

6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You a Better Person

It's brutal, rude, and borderline sociopathic, and also it is an honest and accurate expression of what the world is going to expect from you. The difference is that, in the real world, people consider it so wrong to talk to you that way that they've decided it's better to simply let you keep failing.

...Alec Baldwin was nominated for an Oscar for that movie and that's the only scene he's in. As smarter people have pointed out, the genius of that speech is that half of the people who watch it think that the point of the scene is "Wow, what must it be like to have such an asshole boss?" and the other half think, "Fuck yes, let's go out and sell some goddamned real estate!"

Also:

Is Baldwin's character a jerk or a savior? The genius of the story is that half of you will have completely misunderstood it, and you like mint chutney and food stamps. The secret is at the beginning, at 0:15, where it is revealed that Alec Baldwin doesn't feel any of this, the whole speech is a work. If you were in that room, some of you would understand this as a work, but feed off the energy of the message anyway, welcome the coach's cursing at you, "this guy is awesome!"; while some of you would take it personally, this guy is a jerk, you have no right to talk to me like that, or-- the standard maneuver when narcissism is confronted with a greater power-- quietly seethe and fantasize about finding information that will out him as a hypocrite. So satisfying.

Actually, there are two types of birds that other birds never mess with -- one is hummingbirds. The fact that they can fly backwards and upside down and their great speed means that they can always end up behind the attacking bird with plenty of time to find just the right spot to mess with tends to act as a deterrent.

And the other type? Woodpeckers. Birds of prey don't like to get in fights where a single strike can break a wing, talon, or skull.

Kind of a funny story. I was at a convenience store filling up my truck when these two twenty something girls came in and gassed up. They were all giggly and cutting up. Well, when they left, they had forgotten to take the hose out of their car. I hollered and whistled but they kept right on going until they took the hose off the gas pump. They were lucky that the hose was fitted with a break away nozzle. After that they weren't quite so giggly.

218 Wail, y'all, I watched Justified and did not take any pleasure in the violence.

Here we go in my best Ava voice: I do want to see the little snit (new one) with the inbred eyes, to get blown to smithereens. Where is smithereens you might ask? Well, it is where I would like to take some people I have encountered today: family (a wee bit passive and irritating and paranoid inducing, fussing over "irrevocable trust" yet changing a few acres for brother (who I want to be happy) and leaving me off call and yada ophra issues I cannot be bothered with. Oh, but I'm a part of trust? Yes, just sigh here, Christy, you ignorant slut, just do whatever the hell you are going to, Mama, as you don't listen to me anyway. pfft I honestly wish I were raised by wolves sometimes.

Oh, and moving lady? And how you are suddenly adding pounds to our move? Well, my husband, who is no math slouch, has your number and you'd best on your pretty toes next Wed.

Oh, and fancy lady who is coming to appraise a treasure or two for my move? Don't effing confuse my tired mind with your emails. I am ready to lock everyone out of my life who even talk to me. Morons are the exception.

I woke up in a perfectly good mood for packing and the rotating fan started flinging feces....and I then look like mooch by noon, but with more hair and less caboose.

I think the folks on Justified have the right idea: bourbon befor noon. I may try that tomorrow and see how many boxes I can pack totally bombed. Hail, nothing will make it there anyway in one piece. I may as well start my mourning.

And if my husband does his daily irritation I may pack him in shrink wrap and stuff him in a box and fed ex him to my son. xoxo Prepare for some type of snark tomorrow. I will be sharpening my claws my flying monkeys. xoxo

Funny, you and others (buzzion, for example) have called him out a few times, I just sit back and stay quiet, but I think most of the Horde is in agreement with you.

Sad, it sort of is a microcosm of what's been lost (uh, destroyed) in America: the unwritten rules, the context-and-heart-dependent filter to determine what's edgy vs. what's offensive (in the old, meaningful sense). But here in the comments, you can see the good ol' ways still alive, and practiced by such as yourself.

We live in a condo complex with some open area between buildings. We have a boatload of rabbits living in the area. So many that sometimes I see foxes and coyotes in the neighborhood. But I digress. Anyhow what drew my attention was that an eagle had just hit one of said bunny rabbits, but missed. The rabbit hauled ass under a juniper bush and the eagle flew off hungry. I thought it was really cool until I remembered that our cat likes to go out in that open area. I would hate to see our cat wind up as eagle food.

291 I just learned if you hit the percentage sign your message goes to NSA or somewhere. Either that or my Mama has somehow got control of this here keyboard thingie.

I think my message started out that I, Christy Brinkly, aging supermodel who now looks like the Duchess of Alba due to stress, once dated a young man named Pecker. I saw nothing wrong with this at all. But buzz-kill Mama gave it the old third degree and she could not call him that, all high and mighty. So I rolled my eyes and told her his real name and that he'd had the nickname since childnood due to red hair. I mean, duh, Mama. Bite moi. She is kind most of the time. But sometimes, my little morons and 'ettes, some type of weird voodoo passive aggressive jolt of memory of my childhood comes to the surface. I am a good daughter. I don't want her damn money but want her to make good decisions, yada. But! I am a woman. And men are who she trusts (see, brothers). So bite moi. I got enough problems staying out of straight jackets without this family trust crap. I may soon declare myself kidnapped and found after moving van comes to new house (like that chick in CA).

303 Woodpeckers are badass*.
But they're not invulnerable. I watched a starling go into a Hairy (Downy?) Woodpecker cavity, kill mom dad & babies, kick the copses out, then take over the home.

Since that day, I deliver justice with my trusty Daisy to any starling that flies onto the compound. They are a nuisance. Officially designated such, in fact. The only bird that nests year round in all fifty states.

*Pileated woodpecker got me into birding. Badass. I think they carry Samuel Jackson's wallet from Pulp Fiction.

Tragically passed during an addaclitome procedure.

Posted by: cm9000 at March 25, 2015 11:54 PM (8zCR+)

318 When I was driving over the road, I used to have an old beater that I would keep at the yard. The yard was in a not so nice part of town, so I didn't want to leave my nice car there.
I came back off a run one time and went out to go home and the car wouldn't start. I get under the hood and see that it's not getting any fuel. I start tracing the fuel line back and get to a little rubber hose between the fuel line and the fuel tank. I go into the shop and bum six inches of rubber hose and go replace it.
So, I'm laying under the car and I decide to suck on the hose to prime it. I get a mouthful of gas, turn my head real quick and get gas in my ear. I swear I bounced my head off the frame and the ground about a dozen times each getting out from under the car.
Went to the emergency room because the pain was freaking intense. Doctor told me that the eardrum was a little inflamed, and commented that it was the cleanest ear he had ever seen. Asshole.

Letter written by Angus McPherson, Freshman, University of Leeds:

Dear Mum,

Though classes have yet to start, you'll be happy to know that I'm settling in well. The food is poor, but ample -- I have yet to find a proper haggis. The dorms are roomy, but there are no proper peat fires to settle in with.

I am a bit concerned about the folks in the rooms adjacent to mine, however. On one side, the fellow shrieks and moans at all hours of the day or night for no apparent reason at all. On the other, it often sounds like he's banging his head against the wall.

The good news is that classes will start soon, and I won't hear them so often. In the meantime, I pay them no mind, and just continue to quietly practice my bagpipes.

Your loving son,

Angus

Dang, missed Asheville by a few minutes.

Wanted to thank him for reminding me of CC Lemon, and other beverages in Japan.

On the earlier thread, I meant to mention that he had left off my favorite Japanese beverage (at least by name): Pocari Sweat. Perhaps the all-time poor product name-in translation.

Though I like it. Curiously, I can only recall ever drinking it in Dubai, not in Japan.

If weft is around, he will know about Pocari Sweat.

386 ...Alec Baldwin was nominated for an Oscar for that movie and that's the only scene he's in.
As smarter people have pointed out, the genius of that speech is that
half of the people who watch it think that the point of the scene is
"Wow, what must it be like to have such an asshole boss?" and the other
half think, "Fuck yes, let's go out and sell some goddamned real
estate!"

This is one situation where I have sort of a middle-of-the-road opinion. "Wow, Mr. Fuck You speaks some harsh and necessary truths, and it's an awesome scene, and I'm really glad I don't do the sort of work that he's trying to motivate people to do better." 390 Awww, come on now! GlenGary Glen Ross is an anti-capitalist drama. This world is a zero-sum game fallacy closed set where no matter what one does, one can not "make it." Jack Lemmon's character exemplifies this concept in that the only way he could "make it" was to commit a criminal act. The workers are given crappy leads that can't be closed, yet if they do not close them they lose their jobs. No matter what they do, they can't "make it." The rules of this game are rigged, but this isn't real life, and we all have known the salesman that has a network of contacts and the ability to make things happen. In the real world, if someone isn't good at sales he or she ends up in another line of work pretty quickly. It's a brilliant play, but let's not pretend that it isn't anti-capitalism and quite erroneous in its zero-sum-game fallacy here. This play was penned by Mamet before his conservative conversion.

Actually, qdp, isn't pantyhose under a uniform (for some part of the body) a thing for football or baseball? Dunno, only uniforms I ever put on were ice hockey and volleyball and body armor (where breathable under-armor-type stuff was definitely the call in 110-degree heat).

Carol - Ixquick. Only search engine I've used for years.

Part of my ridiculous, futile, pathetic acts of defiance againstFascist Tech - the big tech companies that fuel so much idiocy, degradation, lawlessness, and destruction through their idiotic political donations and voting (staff). Google, which uses taxpayer-subsidized fuel for its private jet fleet (I think that'sa solid rumor), and has weekly meetings at this utterly disastrous, alien, bizarre White House. Oh - and which rarely acknowledge real, important holidays (Sept. 11, Memorial Day, D-Day) but of course are awash in contemporary fake holidays and crap.

Dunno if Ixquick, at some level, just piggy backs on vile parasites like Google, but as I said, "futile, pathetic" act of defiance .....

I heard a couple of years after the reunion he/she wasn't doing well had been beaten up bad a couple of times, drinking and drug problems.

Now we have parents/grandparents forcing this fucking trans shit on kids who are not capable of making those type of decisions. Latest example is Eep Honda and his grandson dressed up as a girl. Rot in hell gramps

403 ...I forgot to add that in a good company workers are valued and developed. Salespeople are trained, trained, and trained some more. In the real world, if a whole division, department, of location is failing, there are possibly one or two reasons for such failure. First, it is something endemic, structural, and things need to be streamlined - quick! Second possibility is management. A crappy manager can suck the wind out of a whole department if given the chance, and there is nothing more demoralizing than having a boss that is a walking black hole that sucks the life out of his staff. Errors and mistakes occur in the presence of suppression, and it is management that sets the tone.

446 T9, I just retired from Lockheed. I am very proud of some of the things I worked on, like the F-22. With the F-35, they were trying to come up with a plane that fit the Government specs. So was every other aerospace company. They weren't Lockheed specs, they were the Government specs. Lockheed was supposed to build the new helicopter that would have been used by the Navy. We won the contract. But once we started building, the Navy started to changed the specs. It would have come in enormously over budget. That project was cancelled.
And by the way, if you like your GPS, Lockheed is building and launching those satellites.
So before you start bitching about government contractors being idiots, you need to start looking at the government demanding those contracts.
Also, I agree about the F-35. It's almost like the ME-262. Awesome air superiority weapon. Hitler wanted it to have a ground attack role like the Stuka. Delayed its deployment by almost two years, lucky for the Allied Air Force.

447 I know others think it's stupid, but IMHO black boxes just aren't enough in situations such as several recent crashes. Am thinking that some sort of tamper-proof video transmit-to-cloud system really would be useful at this stage.

ThunderB, thanks for your (actual) expert commentary on the Bergdahl thing - and please keep it up as things develop.

And yes, I'd bet at least $17 that "advisers" from IRGC/Quds/intel are in Yemen with the Houthis.

Yemen - starting to feel like the 1970s again. South vs. North, tribe vs. tribe.

And keep in mind, all, that Yemen is the one frontier of the Kingdom that remained "interesting" after the 1950s. Trucial States (now UAE) were under British protection. Oman too, but also kind of not core Saudi interest anyway.

But Yemen "should" have been part of al-Saud's conquests, it's the "one that got away". So I'd expect the Saudis to putserious effort, and bring serious tribal/intrigue game, to this one.

Oh - and Adel al-Jubeir is the Saudi ambassador? Ha! Knew him when he was merely a pup, and on his first gig in DC. Back then Prince Bandar was at the peak of his influence and skill as ambassador. As useful as sat transmitted data would be for airlines and I know that it can be useful for problem solving and safety... I'm unsure I'd be onboard with it. I like cheap air travel and as far as it goes, it's not crash prevention. If I'm going into the ground on a flight, I'm not gonna give a fuck what the data says after I'm dead. And yes, "Marxist" South Yemen (Aden) was a true wonder of the late Soviet era. Marxist tribal Sunni qaat-chewing Yemenis ..... one hopes that Trotsky and others are spinning in their graves savoring that one.

The Kingdom has minimal force-projection capacity (naturally), so I'd be shocked if there are anything close to 150K troops actually in/around Yemen or border areas. Also, Pakistan and Sudan as part of the "coalition"? Pakistan maybe - officers/advisers, and recall Saudis hosted Paki troops at one point to boost their infantry power. Sudanese? cm9000, even tho I made a reference to Saudi power projection capacity in last comment, let me answer you by saying "I don't really know" - just an educated guess based on prior, dated expertise.

But it's a border region (even if undefined, as pointed out by steveegg), so "projection" might be quibbled at by some. The Saudi forces are postured and developed (understandably) for defense. Incl. "defense" WITHIN the borders, against, uh, you know - their own people (National Guard used to have this role).

Mortifying beyond words. Not that long ago, I really could have given a solidly-based answer. Yikes.

A successful salesperson ( my whole career) listens closely to clients needs and sells ways to fill said needs. Full stop. Nothing more.

If you are able to sell them something they do not need once, you will likely never sell them anything again. One and done artists don't last long in Sales.
Posted by: ManWithNoParty

Just my humble, but there are in fact 2 kinds of successful salesmen.

The first is just as you describe; responsive, helpful, and honest.

The second successful sales person is charismatic, dishonest, and - get this - promoted before any of his/her lies catch up with him/her.

Let's not pretend that all sales positions are filled with angels, or that all companies that employ sales staff are either.

Luap Nor, excellent point about Egyptian intervention in Yemen (last one in 1960s?).

Some dude (and another commenter earlier, forget who) made a key point: with the US essentially not a factor any longer, or at least not a reliable factor in some astonishing respects, the region will do what the rational thing. It's the Persians vs. the Arabs, with a largely (though not cleanly - esp. in Iraq, believe it or not) Sunni/Shi'a split. Um .... with that Israeli thing thrown in.

Not much daylight between the practical interests of Jerusalem on the one hand and Cairo, Amman, Riyadh, and Abu Dhabi on the other. And less and less with every step down in US competence, interest, or reliability.

T9, re Straits of Hormuz, and steveegg's and ctulhu's comments about world oil flows - yes, your "48 hour threat" concept rings true - except .....

Today? I don't mean with the competence and commitment of our actual warriors and intel staff, but with the worldview and competence of national leadership.

Was it "Praying Mantis" back in July 1987? Pretty much a perfect object lesson in national will and international affairs. Iran tried to "horizontally" escalate against Iraq's financiers (Kuwait, S.A). US first reflagged Kuwaiti tankers - very clever move, actually. Then dealt with mine problem. Then, best part, when the Persians displayed the limits of their game savvy - we eliminated most of their navy in a few hours, after they gave us the perfect pretext.

Anyway, this ain't no 1987 USA, the alien mediocrity in the Oval Office ain't no RR, and so .... in extremis, the Persians pulling the very risky "nobody moves or the n***er gets it!" move in Hormuzmight NOT be so easily dealt with.

yup. I was all for nuking a few small pissant arab countries immediately after 9-11. Why? To send a message.

War is a numbers game, period. Once a war starts, people are going to die, end of story. The thing is to keep your numbers low, and when you do that the lion's share of the total dead ends up on your enemy. WWII death toll was 50-60 million. We lost around 480,000. That sucks, but its good numbers for us and even some of our allies, because we went there and wrecked shit there.

Had we done nothing in WWII it eventually would have came here, and if we didn't go there the axis powers would have been free to spend less time wrecking shit there. With less resistance they would have rolled through countries leaving garrisons, and been a lot more rested to come fuck with us, and then WE would have the wrecked cities and huge civilian dead. Less there, more here. We would have shared a larger number of the total dead. But since we went there we skated compared to Europe. 50 mil dead there, .5 mil here instead of 30mil dead there and 20 mil dead here. Its a numbers game. The fucking japs killed 100,000 Chinese JUST in the search for the Doolittle raiders.

So..think about 9-11. Between all the scumbags we killed, and the innocent people the scumbags themselves killed, and the pople dying in Syria, etc, we got what, 4-500,000 dead? 600,000? And we lost over 4000 guys in there somewhere.

I would have hit 2 cities with fucking nukes, 1 of them being the Iranian capitol, and the other being that fucking borg cube for a total that's probably less than where we are now anyway. It would have showed those goat fuckers that we mean business and we would burn them from space if they don't cut the shit.

Oh yeah, our 4000 would probably still be alive too. I like those numbers.

577 The current Middle East situation is far more complicated than the Sunni vs. Shiite paradigm we've grown so used to.

ISIS is a Sunni group.

They're opposed by the Sunni nations Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia... eh, there are more, but you get the idea. Special mention goes to Iraq, which was Sunni under Saddam Hussein's rule but is now Shiite.

They're also opposed by Shiite nations Iran and Iraq.

At the same time, they're supported by Sunni nations like Turkey and the now-lawless Libya, as well as the not-quite-a-nation Palestinians.

Jewish nation Israel opposes ISIS. The ostensibly Christian US supports both ISIS and most of its enemies, as well as its allies, while ISIS considers us an enemy. And we now treat our allies as enemies and our enemies as allies. While our allies got the memo, our enemies didn't. Or, more likely, they did, but they still consider us enemies.

Yeah, like I said... it's complicated.

What is the consensus at this moment about why the pilot was locked out and couldn't get back into the cockpit?

Options include:

1. The co-pilot was a secret Muslim terrorist who purposely locked him out and then crashed the plane intentionally as an act of terrorism.

2. The co-pilot passed out/had a heart attack/suffered a decompression and couldn't let the other pilot in because he was unconscious.

3. The door just inexplicably jammed and couldn't be opened from either side.

4. The co-pilot was a schizo maniac who locked out the other pilot not for political or religious reasons but because he was personally insane.

5. While the first pilot was off going pee, a terrorist briefly impersonated him by getting up and knocking on the cockpit door, saying to the pilot still in there, "It's me, the pilot, I'm done going pee now, let me back in," and then when the co-pilot cracks open the door, the terrorist rushes in, kills or disables him, then locks the door and crashes the plane.

6. Something else I haven't thought of.

I bought into the Jihadi pilot scenario initally, but it's been a couple days now. The no names of the pilots being mentioned still gives me pause.

602 I'm inclined towards it being intentionally crashed, although it's still very early in the investigation.

Motives why? There's examples in the past of crazy/pissed off, financially strapped people, and some whacko muslims who took down planes.

Could the motivation be muslim sympathy? Maybe. I'd say the fact that no pilot names have been released yet is.....odd to say the least.

That's focusing the speculation in the wrong place.

Why do we know the names of dead passengers and crew, but not the pilots?

Why did the leaders of France, Germany, and Spain meet before releasing statements at the scene?

Why was this little tidbit leaked, without transcripts and tapes?

The deaths of 150 people are one thing.....but the possible government collusion behind the coverup/controlled reveal is another.

regarding the theory that the windshield blew out.

the cockpit door is many things, but air tight isn't one of them. if he was locked out, and the plane was diving, smart money says either the other pilot took everyone with them, or there was some other sort of failure.

anyone wanna lay odds that the person at the wheel was a recent convert to the religion of pieces?

Let me go you one further -- if his name is Gunther Mahlberg, aged 63, 5'8", 280 lbs., then the focus will abruptly change. If his name was Hans Friedenstahl until last year, at which point it became Muhammed bin Muhammed, then the focus will abruptly change another direction. If his name was Johann Schmidt, aged 32, recently had a romantic breakup from his partner of 15 years -- well, then, it's something else.

Airbus wants this to be anyone's fault but there's. The airline, on the other hand, dreads the fact that one of their pilots was a suicidal maniac, if that's the case.

... but if the cracked window theory was known(and apparently, a crack incident had happened earlier, and this plane reputedly was nearing disposal ... there must be a procedure) OR a crack was seen in the window ... why weren't the pilot and/or copilot strapped in, with masks already on?

Back in January, IS called for muslims to carry out more attacks.

6 days ago this: An alleged American ISIS fighter in the Islamic State posted a call to Twitter on Thursday for Muslims to murder Americans (specifically veterans) at patriotic parades and to 'take down' President barack obama.

And recently IS said it will target places such as the Eiffel Tower.

Muslims hear this crap and some will actually do attempt to act out. So when a seemingly perfectly airplane is ditched into the ground at full tilt at a steady descent with evidence of the second pilot being locked out of the cockpit, my first thought is jihad. Call me wacky and paranoid.

Yeah, there has absolutely got to be ways for a crew member to open that door. I cannot believe they'd forego emergency planning in the design of the lock.

But I can also understand there existing an override, as you mention above, by the person inside the cockpit just in case the Bad Guys ever got hold of the secret to opening the door from the outside, or held a crew member at gun-knife point to gain entry.

As far as "peaceful" ones are concerned, yeah fuck them too. Anybody staying in a religion that continually murders in the name of their god and kills like its free and commits the atrocities we're seeing has some serious screws loose. They need to be banned from the west.

Still can't confirm it but bro. is a commercial pilot. I'll ask.

638 The pilot was probably Ted Cruz's campaign manager.

That plane crashed harder than Ted's Presidential run.

642 fun pilot quote from pprune.org:

In the freighter I fly, we manage to make our own coffee, heat our own
meals and use the toilet without the help of an air hostess, all the
whilst complying with our SOP. If a galley and toilet were located
behind the cockpit door and my colleague were to become suicidal, at
least I would have a chance to disable him without being locked out of
the office, as long as he doesnt have over 100ml of toothpaste or
deoderant on him.

@609 points out 3 very different scenarios.....it is fairly obvious that the composition of the flight crew may be very germane to the investigation.

646 Normally ain't up this late.

Funny bit is 24 years ago at 0230 I'd be slammin the door to my truck, adjusting my campaign hat, walking into the tunnel of the 3711 BMTS with a cup of coffee for the poor bastard pushing 1 on 1 and had to pull CQ.

Humid texas air and the smell of the dining hall team firing up breakfast and fighting off the 30lbs roaches. the rank odor of new uniforms and fear.

Coming in the back door with a key I ain't supposed to have to see if the dorm guard is asleep...

Brings a tear to my eye.

It's 1:30 here. Using the whole-house fan and not the AC, the temp just hit optimum sleeping -- 63 degrees. I was shutting down the whole-house fan and checking the skylights, windows, and vents -- and making sure the heater will kick in briefly in the morning to help the fiancee wake up. In addition, today is trash day and I was checking that everything normally locked between the garbage area and the street was secure. Then I was shutting down the lights on the far-end of the house since all I'll need to do later tonight is stagger to the next room.

Posted by: cthulhu at March 26, 2015 04:44 AM (T1005)

653 I'd also brewed the fiancee some iced tea for tomorrow that I needed to get in the fridge and....I'm out of beer in the house, so I need to jump out to the garage for some cold ones.

655 fyi, regarding above comment
there is a youtube video from airbus explaining the security door in great detail.

The one I saw is for a second generation door, so not clear if all airbus now use this or if some have old version, but

the above is correct -- the man in the cockpit can lock you out, but it has to be an intentional act, not loss of consciousness.

658 looking at reddit, it really is funny watching those idiots stumble over these facts and try to find an explanation since they are all programmed to believe that terrorism is inconceivable.

comments like people saying our irrational fear of terrorism made the US require security doors that made it impossible to help the poor pilot that must have had a heart attack and slumped over the "steerer" (no i did not make that up.)

other comments saying that if he wanted to kill himself, why didn't he just use a gun instead of taking a whole airplane of people with him.

another one that i liked was where someone listed all the recent murder/suicide pilots and said it was unfortunate that they all "happened" to be muslim. Someone with poor grasp of logic said that those countries are majority muslim, so what else would you expect.... (not understanding the correlation that majority Christian countries do not have these things happening.)

661 Why the leisurely 8 min descent?

there was another instance where the pilot programmed the autopilot to drill into the ground. I think in africa, but don't remember exactly.

I think a lot of these people are nuts, and there is no figuring out nuts. but punching 100ft into the computer seems like a way to get it over with and prep for defense. Especially on airbus, where there are a lot of software protections to keep you from doing stupid stuff like stalling.

Posted by: Gentlemen, This is democracy manifest at March 26, 2015 05:16 AM (LWu6U)

662 I think pilot leveled plane out at 38,000 feet and took a leak. Co-pilot set autopilot to 6800 feet - a leisurely descent. Plane dropped for eight minutes then leveled off. Meanwhile pilot returns, can not reenter cabin.

Suicide by airplane, a little more then a year after the last time. The pilots names should be the giveaway.

The pilots' names and histories should be a major focus of the investigation......and I'm really feeling very little confidence in any government concerned to be truthful.

676 I'm just guessing but I assume there is insurance money paid to surviving members of pilot (or co-pilot) family IF not clear case of suicide. Probably in the million dollar plus range.

You're not gonna get that by sticking a gun in your mouth or driving into a bridge abutment at high speed. Take out a planeload of infidels, score some virgins, and leave your family with some serious coin.
