The Gay Sweater

They made, allegedly, this alleged sweater out of the... hair of 100 LGBT children.

Children, incidentally.

The final phase of a creepy cult is this: They actively want you to know they're creepy, because they're creepy for their Strange Gods.

"We were walking around school and people were like, 'That test is so gay and that homework's so gay and someone said that sweater's so gay,'"

I am reliably informed by my teenager that when teenagers use 'gay' in that context they are not implying anything about homosexuality.

It's just a word. Like cool. If I say your sweater is cool I don't mean that it's cold to the touch.

57 They made, allegedly, this alleged sweater out of the... hair of 100 LGBT children.

So way back last century when I was in high school, we watched a French film about the Holocaust that had very few words, just images. Kind of alternated between pictures of extermination camp horrors and images of fields and forests surrounding the camps.

One of the pictures that stood out was the piles of hair they cut off the women before they gassed them, to be used to make useful textiles (I think felted for coats). Every girl in my history class freaked out about that.

That's the first thing that pops into my head when people start talking about using human hair for clothing.

Since this young deep thinker seems to think that oppression itself is woven into the hairs, will that kid's hair start oppressing the other hairs?

Will the object then be the world's fist 'mostly gay object', or will it retain it's pure status because the oppression is locked into place by the magical forces which impart abtract principles into dead skin cells?

This reminds me of a stupid post my Liberalest brother shared on FaceSpace yesterday with his own comment (trigger warning): "If you're a Christian and support any kind of legalized discrimination, I'm ashamed to be associated with you."

What was the post? Some ghey dude complaining that a state (I don't remember which one) is passing a law that would allow businesses to refuse to do business with gay people.

The take in the post is "Oh, you could get kicked out of a restaurant because you're gay!"

Never mind that no one is going to know or care unless you advertise it.

Never mind that there are documented cases of people being forced to serve gay couples (re: weddings).

No, you don't own your own labor or business, the Ghey Lobby does, and can force you at the point of a gun to serve (and even support) them even if you have strong moral objections to them.

I avoided posting back to him "Fuck you."

241 One of the favorite of a Nazi prison guard's wife was the lampshade made of the skin with tattoos, for the light it cast through the tattoo.

Ilse Koch, "The Bitch of Buchenwald."

However, according to Wiki:

Jean Edward Smith in his biography, Lucius D. Clay, an American Life, reported the general maintained that the leather lamp shades were really made out of goat skin. The book quotes a statement made by General Clay years later:

There was absolutely no evidence in the trial transcript, other than she was a rather loathsome creature, that would support the death sentence. I suppose I received more abuse for that than for anything else I did in Germany. Some reporter had called her the "Bitch of Buchenwald", had written that she had lamp shades made of human skin in her house. And that was introduced in court, where it was absolutely proven that the lamp shades were made out of goat skin.

According to the Buchenwald Report, there was a factory at Buchenwald, which produced leather goods out of animal skins, but it had caught fire during an Allied bombing raid on the camp on 24 August 1944.

Anyone can sign up for Obamacare. But you only get subsidies if your employer does NOT offer a health insurance plan. Since the Senate does offer a health insurance plan, Cruz won't be eligible for any subsidies. And he also makes too much money to qualify for subsidies.

That aside, I can see this backfiring. At some point in the next 18 months he will probably need to see a doctor. And when he does, the MSM will be all "see, even Obamacare hater Ted Cruz is benefiting from it as he's using his Obamacare plan to get treatment".

OK good, that was my initial take but the MSM was making me question myself. I also thought it might be sort of how Rush started Two if by Tea to see firsthand what small business owners have to go through; by signing up for Obamacare Cruz personally monitors how the system runs.

And I love that the MSM is trying to make the Obamacare thing disqualify Cruz. They really do project who they fear don't they?

WTFFFF with Cruz and "Obamacare" (which he obviously won't qualify for, and won't be "on")?

Limbaugh - and it seems, Cruz and at least one staffer - are incredibly clueless and bumbling in this case.

Your wife loses here company benefits. So you use yours - which are just a worse/most costly version of what was there before, since of course your income will keep you out of any subsidizedplans. And as a federal employee you choose from a menu of plans, as has been the case for decades.

This has nothing to do with "Obamacare". That unprecedented, unconstitutional disaster should be the focus of attack. Every stupid premise - especially that it addressed any actual "problem" - which it didn't (the financially involuntarily uninsured were a very small group that could have easily been addressed by targeted subsidies and Medicaid expansion - done).

In all the sound bites Limbaugh played, Cruz failed to even try to address the false premises he was presented.

Any possible, plausible complicated political strategery involved in what Cruz said/did is ludicrous, and will not have a chance of making any intelligible point (that would be true even without the complete distortion and attack that will constitute the "reporting" in this case).

325 I always take my religious cues and advice from people who don't believe in the Bible, don't believe in sin, don't believe in heaven, don't believe in hell, don't believe in Jesus and don't believe in absolute morals.

Funny thing about that: he'd say he believes in all of those things.

Of course... he seems to believe secular "scholars" over religious ones- because those religious scholars are "just trying to prove the Bible..."

So he's one of the ones who believes the Bible was written long after Jesus's death, rather than within a few decades.

Posted by: AllenG (DedicatedTenther) - TrueCon at March 25, 2015 12:56 PM (kff5f)

326 And also nobody signs up for "Obamacare". What you do is sign up for an individual health plan. Those have been around forever, long before Obamacare.

Signing for "Obamacare" just means you buy the plan through the govt run website and you get tax subsidies if you qualify (which Cruz doesn't). So really all Cruz is doing is buying an individual health insurance plan from Aetna or Blue Cross or Cigna. Since he's not getting any tax credits, Obamacare isn't really in play.

I know this since I have bought my own health insurance for 10 years. All Obamacare did was make it more expensive. But aside from that, nothing really changed.

She got asked a LOT if she was gay because of this. She's heterosexual all the way.

She wonders sometimes if she had a strong adult influence whispering in her ear that she MUST be gay, whether she might have been able to convince herself that was so.

With enough conditioning you can get adults to agree to most things. Police, given enough time, can get almost anyone to confess to crimes, even without torture. 100% talking. Posted by: Mr. Moo Moo at March 25, 2015 01:02 PM (0LHZx)

354 The biggest thing (aside from a huge price increase) that Obamacare has done is that it has made it impossible for someone to keep their doctor.

I have several friends who've lost their long time OBs. Just what every pregnant woman wants to hear, right?

When we were looking at Obamacare plans, the only plan that was anywhere near affordable had one, count him one, rheumatologist, and of course it wasn't the doctor my husband had used and liked.

There's also the matter of forcing people to apply for medicaid even if they obviously don't qualify, and making it near impossible to add your child to your policy.

But hey, other than all of that it's just peachy.

Moo Moo, mostly correct, but recall that cost increases vary widely between states. Mine TRIPLED, or quadrupled, if you wanted the same coverage. That is, my monthly cost went from an already-needlessly-inflated-by-govt-interference level to a small mortgage payment.

Disastrous, and outrageous.

My point with Cruz is he didn't appear to make any of the real important points.

He's f**king Senator, at worst he can browse through the catalog of health plans and sign up. With their financial situation, his family can easily "afford" a private plan - which lies outside O-care, but has been made ruinously expensive in most areas (like mine).

If he wanted to make a substantive and politically marketable point, he should sign up for a private plan, and note how much more that plan costs than it did two years ago.

Then again, it's beginning to appear actually possible to me that the tens of millions of Americans very negatively, even disastrously, affected by the O-care debacle, magically, constitute absolutely no political force or factor whatever. Here we are two years in and 100% of the "right-wing" nuts I know express shock andbewilderment at my situation - if it doesn't directly and currently affect someone, it appears no govt. atrocity of ANY kind registers with any force. That's where the "it's dead, Jim" observation comes from.

375 And every OCare plan is a private plan (except Medicaid of course). There is still so much misinformation about the fucking law. Which is part of the plan, I think.

Obamacare is 2 parts

1. A set of regulations that every health insurance plan must follow.

2. Tax subsidies to pay for the plans.

Everyone in the land is subject to #1. Not everyone is eligible for #2.

But 100% of the population is automatically "signed up for Obamacare" since 100% of health insurance plans must conform to Obamacare standards.

Anyone can sign up for Obamacare. But you only get subsidies if your
employer does NOT offer a health insurance plan. Since the Senate does
offer a health insurance plan, Cruz won't be eligible for any subsidies.
And he also makes too much money to qualify for subsidies.

That aside, I can see this backfiring. At some point in the next 18
