Up Twinkles

I believe @NUSwomcam is the National Union of Students Woman's Campaign. The NUS appears to be a British organization for rabble-rousing among pampered, entitled students.

They tweet stupid shit like this:

So the woman's campaign branch of this Silly Organization has decided that traditional, andrormative signs of support and approval are too aggressive and triggering.

I shitteth thee not.

More: The Oxford University Student Union Woman's Campaign lodged this strange request.

Thanks to BCochran, who has a competitor, traitor podcast which is presumptively guilty of LOGAN ACT violations.

Why can't we sing to express approval instead of creating a loud, ugly, aggressive sound that is caused by an action that constitutes violence in other contexts (ie. striking one hand with another, ie. clapping)? It conditions people into thinking that striking with the hand is ok, and numbs them to the ugliness of the sound. The next thing you know they are thinking, "it's ok to smack around other people I don't like". It's the first step on the slippery slope to violence and we should be getting our educators to train children not to do this, and have a long talk with any parents that still promote this practice in their household.

Funny, if Darwin was alive today he'd be all like WTF?

Then he'd say something astute such as the human race today defies nature -- indeed, the only reason it will survive in the short term is because today the human race is subsidized.

Think about it: The human race is a propped up species dependent on drugs (vaccinations, etc.) and welfare to survive. How long do you think humans can stay ahead of the game before nature catches up and overruns them?

She's as fragile as some of you would like to think.

Posted by: ColdBeer1 (Slap) (T) at March 24, 2015 04:06 PM (16bOT)

522 The words "yes" and "no" are used less often on college campus and frat party settings than people here seem willing to admit.

So? That changes nothing.

Your failure to say "yes" or "no" does not change that "yes" and "no" are the operative answers.

Let's see: does passed out mean consent? No, obviously not on logical, philosophical, moral, and legal grounds. Not even a question anymore.

3rd base? Now, "base" has a variety of descriptions, but assuming we're talking your hands already inside her underwear... (get this) still no. If you try to transition from 3rd base to home plate, and she says "no" or "stop" or any such thing- consent was just withheld, dude, deal with it. Assuming the rest of the encounter was consensual, and she says nothing? Keep going, champ.

(Obviously, if the original encounter was *not* consensual, that's a different story altogether.)

The "hookup culture" cannot be blamed- any more than "culture" can or should be blamed for any bad act or bad actor. People are their own agents, they can make their own decisions.

That's merely a dodge for (mostly, but not exclusively) women to use. "Oh, the hookup culture means I couldn't just say no!" Guess what, honey. Yes, you could. Perhaps you should have.

But bringing in "a continuum of answers" is about 70% of the current problem. "No means no" was nice, simple, and effective. There's not a lot of wiggle-room in "no."

There is quite a bit of wiggle-room in "how about we cuddle, instead?"

536 When I read stuff like this it makes me sad for humanity.

It reminds me of a Gandalf quote; "The old wisdom that was borne out of the West was forsaken. Kings made
tombs more splendid than the houses of the living and counted the names
of their descent dearer than the names of their sons. Childless lords
sat in aged halls musing on heraldry or in high, cold towers asking
questions of the stars. And so the people of Gondor fell into ruin. The
line of Kings failed, the White Tree withered, and the rule of Gondor
was given over to lesser men."

We are doomed.

No, I'm not sure how both of those could possibly be true.
