Senator For Gurlz (TM) Kirsten Gillibrand: Don't Blame The "Victim" Who Invented The UVA Gang-Rape Hoax Out of Whole Cloth Just To Get the Attention of a Boy She Had a Crush On

We need a National Conversation explaining how fake victims of hoax-rapes are just as much victims as victims of actual rape, I guess.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who is pushing for stronger laws against rapes on college campuses, today warned against people criticizing the woman at the center of a University of Virginia sexual assault case.

...

But Gillibrand said the ire over the case shouldn't shift blame onto victims, who already have a hard time coming forward to authorities.

"Victim blaming or shining the spotlight on her for coming forward is not the right approach," Gillibrand said on "The Capitol Pressroom," a public radio show in Albany. "In fact, what we have to focus on is how do we keep these campuses safe? How do we have better trained personnel on campuses so they can tell a survivor what her options are and so they can have all the facts?"

She came forward with a horrible lie, you stupid twat.

Gillibrand said it would be wrong for some to call on the female student in the UVA scandal to face criminal charges.

"I think it's inappropriate," she said. "One of the challenges with survivors of sexual trauma and rape is that they often don’t want to actually participate with law enforcement because they don’t think justice is possible. They don't think they will be believed; they think they’ll be blamed."

Are you on Mars, you fucking idiot? She shouldn't be "believed" because, get this, she made it all up.

This is a major theme of the Feminist Cultists. Just yesterday Jessica Valenti claimed we shouldn't engage in "victim blaming" here. Again, forgetting that "Jackie" is not a victim. She instead is a perpetrator, of spreading a vicious slander against complete strangers just to get A Boy's Attention.

I can't say she's guilty of filing a false police complaint because she seems to have completely refused to discuss her Fake Gang Rape with the police.

Let me suggest the obvious here: Feminist Cultists like Gillibrand and Valenti may be speaking, ostensibly, about not blaming the "victim" "Jackie" here, but what they're really most determined is that they themselves not be blamed for believing such a grotesque and stupid lie, nor of cursing those who (wisely) doubted it.

I don't know what these two fine Cultists said, but I know when the first guy to raise questions raised some questions, he was attacked by the flock of harpies as a woman-hating rape-loving monster.

Well, now it's proven that these Cultists were in fact the monsters, and foisted a lie on the nation to aggrandize themselves.

And they don't want to be called out for that (despite the fact that "calling out" is a favorite tactic of the left).

So their tactic is to say "Let's not talk about the 'victim' here," which just coincidentally squelches all related discussion of Gillibrand's and Valenti's eagerness to believe stupid fairy-tales that advance their political cause and, coincidentally again I'm sure, their social position within The Cause.

I call upon Senator Gillibrand to recuse herself from all votes having to do with Title IX, rape, domestic violence, or other women's issues. She is plainly only representing the Ladysisters, not her constituents generally, and she's moreover only representing a tiny slice of female voters -- the Ashley Judd Demographic.

Women are fond of saying men shouldn't get a say in women's issues because men don't have the empathy or experience necessary.

Well, likewise, the man-hating harridan Gillibrand should no longer be permitted to vote on laws which may result in men being put in jail for alleged transgressions against women. Gillibrand is such a man-hating harpy that she actually wants innocent men held to account for crimes they never committed, because to declare them innocent would be too hurtful and "triggering" for the female liar that hostaed the slander.

She has disqualified herself from voting on these issues. She can give speeches on the Senate floor like an advocate, but she must recuse herself from casting votes on these issues. She is plainly too corrupted by a lunatic ideology of hatred to be allowed to do that.

24 Kirsten Gillibrand raped me!

OK, now I ma a victim.

By Gillibrand's own rules, the fact that there is no actual evidence that Gillibrand raped me is irrelevant to whether or not I am a victim.

By merely claiming to have been raped -- raped by Gillibrand that is -- I instantly achieve kryptonite victimhood status that cannot be revoked. And all statements by me must be kowtowed to and believed, evidence or no evidence.

I therefore say: We must ban women from the Senate! They become rapists and are out of control!

I have the Victim Talking Stick, so you must OBEY!

97 stronger laws against rapes on college campuses

What the actual f*ck?

Are we supposed to believe that a lack of strong laws is the problem here?

First off: there is no problem here. Rapes are not particularly common on college campii (unless you start counting "unwanted kissing," and "regret after" as rape). There is no evidence they are any more common than anywhere else.

Second: The problem with law-breakers is that they do not care that they are breaking the law. If there *were* an acute problem with college rape, the rapists *are already breaking the law and don't care.*

Which brings us to...

Third: Equal Protection, b*tch, do you speak it? My *location* is not good enough reason to say that a crime against me is somehow less bad than a crime against someone else three blocks away.

And finally: If you want "stronger laws against rape" (note that I left out the "college" there), then you have to insist on harsher sentences for rapists. But about the only way you could do that is by making rape a capitol offense.

Now, I am actually on board with making rape a capitol offense. I believe the *least* that should happen to a rapist is life without the possibility of parole. I would happily vote to execute anyone convicted of rape.

I do not, for a moment, believe that Kristen Gillibrand believes the same way. In fact, I believe that any law she proposes will basically be an attempt for the Federal Government to exert yet more control of colleges.

Instead of more laws, how about advocating that kollidge kids be a little more responsible?

Oh, and how about telling them to use the system in place to report real, live rapes? And that regret doesn't equal rape?

By "laws against rape on college campuses" they mean expanding "rape" and/or "sexual assault" to include anything and everything a man does that make a woman feel uncomfortable, sad, conflicted, rejected or regretful; making it even more Kafkaesque for an accused; and eliminating any possibility of repercussions for the accuser, no matter how blatantly false the accusation.

They're the ones who enabled Kirsten Gillibrand to get traction in congressional-district-level politics in upstate New York, by endorsing her as "pro-Second Amendment-rights" in a district where such rights remain popular.

Anyone with an ounce of sense (cough not NRA cough) would have been easily able to see that Gillibrand's stance in question was entirely duplicitous, opportunistic, and tactical, and that if she had an eventual opportunity to step up to statewide office, she would instantly jettison her support for gun owners.

Probably easier to go vague. She mostly got screwed by naming a specific frat.

She should've just claimed she wanted back from the frats but the trauma had wiped out her memory of which one. I'm sure one had a party that night.

Rape is, has always been, and will always be a very serious crime with serious penalties. We have an entire fucking court system designed to deal with rape and other very serious crimes.

Letting some social just warrior professors adjudicate potential felony complaints is a slap in the face to our criminal justice system, to common law, and to due process.

If a girl is raped and she doesn't go to the police, then there's nothing we can do for her. If she does go to the police, then the accused will get a fair trial.

Superb post, Ace. There's another class of victims, Senator. Real female victims. Not only the young men falsely accused of committing heinous crimes, but the mothers and sisters of these young men. I'm a man, and it is very difficult for me to imagine the impact on a son's mother when he's accused of a terrible crime like rape. And then to find out that the accuser is excused by a United States Senator for falsely accusing her son of committing the violent crime.

If the Senate Republicans had any spine (spit!), they'd line up a full panel or two of mothers and sisters of these young men and have them offer testimony on the matter.

Her earlier story was better. She originally told her friends that she had been forced to perfom oral sex on a bunch of guys. Short of beating, there's not likely to be any physical marks or visible trauma. But perfect for garnering sympathy. And she supposedly refused to seek medical attention to file a complaint.

For whatever reason(s), the story grew more lurid and monstrous.

Right.

And no one would leave such obvious forensic evidence.

Basically the entire premise of the article was that rape is so common at UVa that it's not even hidden and it's basically just an accepted part of campus life.

Unless you believed that rape was basically just an initiation in to college and was unremarkable since it was so commonplace, the entire narrative in the rolling stone article made no sense.

Which, as someone who went to college and was in a fraternity, I know is completely ludicrous.

One in four college women has been the victim of rape or attempted rape. One in four. I remember standing outside the dining hall in college, looking at a purple poster with this statistic written in bold letters. It didn't seem right. If sexual assault was really so pervasive, it seemed strange that the intricate gossip networks hadn't picked up more than one or two shadowy instances of rape. If I was really standing in the middle of an "epidemic," a "crisis" -- if 25 percent of my women friends were really being raped -- wouldn't I know it?

218 I had a few friends over the years that were raped. Not fake, I made it up rape. Real rape. The trauma of the crime was more than any person should bear, however, second to that was actually coming forward about it and prosecuting the SOB who did it. That should not be diminished or understated. Lots of raped go unreported for that reason, leaving scum out there to do it again (and they WILL do it again).

The problem I see is making these things a public issue and worse a National Conversation. If there is a rape allegation, it needs to be handled as privately and closely as possible. If the accused is found guilty, they need to suffer the worst punishment imaginable... and even that is not enough. Once we get to the punishment phase, I am all for making it public. Going back to the old drawing and quartering on a stage sounds good to me. The condition is that the victim remains anonymous to everyone but the court and perp and the perpetrator gets due process.

You know... like was outlined in the Constitution for all crimes.

No real victim has any desire to be a celebrity and any politician who trys to garner votes and their own celebrity from victims should be next the perpetrators on the stage being drawn and quartered.

If Jackie had made any contact with the "campus" PD, it would've triggered a very high level investigation ASAP (something that Erdely obviously didn't know when she wrote the fiction - lending credence to the idea that she "shopped" different campus).
As such, the only "investigation" left was to notify the local (Charlottesville) PD by the Administration that "something" might have happened...

Yeah, rape is horrible, but we're not giving up 1000 years of common law and the idea of a public, speedy trial because women are the weaker sex and can't be expected to testify against their accuser without a feinting couch.

I'm sorry. I feel for the women, I really do. Being violated like that is a horrific thing.

But so is locking someone up for 25 years without a fair, open, public trial that allows the public to see all (well, the vast majority) of evidence.

242 This is, believe it not, connected to the Matthew Shepard murder.

Matthew Shepard was murder by a pair of gay meth-head in a drug-deal gone bad.

While his murder was tragic, it had NOTHING to do with homophobia, firstly because it was about drugs, and secondly because the killers (or at least one of them) had been his sexual partners, and themselves identified as gay.

And yet, despite this, the Left trumpeted his death as a gay-bashing to promote a political cause - -even though they knew full well it wasn't a gay-bashing.

But back then -- 1998 -- they could still get away with it because the Internet Fact-Checking Mobs had not yet evolved into the fast-response teams they are today.

Based on the success of this fake politicized incident, they thought they could pull it off again, this time with a fake rape.

But 2014 is no 1998. The world has changed. Promulgating a lie unchallenged is no longer possible.

Campus police should not exist.

I know it's common in VA, but I always thought it was wrong that administrations of colleges have their own police forces (with arrest powers) who work for them.

In most states, campus cops are essentially mall cops. As in, they have to call the real police if a crime is committed.

Which is fine, since 90% of the "crimes" on campus are open container or minor in possession of alcohol bullshitty crimes that really serve as a way for the school to raise money through plea deals and not as a way to deter crime.

268 If there is a rape allegation, it needs to be handled as privately and closely as possible.
--
If they publish the name of accused, they should publish the name of the accuser.

The accused name is never kept secret.

Rape should be treated like any other violent crime. It's also shame-inducing and traumatic to get beaten and robbed or to have somebody try to murder you.

Keep rape accusers names secret while publicizing the names of the accused creates too much of an incentive for abuse.

Yes you would. According to those stats, every fourth female friend would have a rape story to tell. There would be police everywhere on campus and chaperones at each and every function even remotely related to the school. Think if that stat were robberies instead of rapes.

This sort of questioning of suspicious information is what we once recognized as "Common Sense." Wouldst that it were more common.

Canquelles was just now busily praising certain Southern California "antigang programs" and suggesting them as a model for the rest of the country.

Here's the deal. Those "antigang programs" consist for the most part of taking admitted, proven, convicted members of violent street gangs and putting them on the public payroll to do "outreach" and other such make-believe crap.

Not only does this powerfully incentivize becoming a gang member in the first place -- it's a first step on the career ladder! -- but it also has experienced the entirely and sadly predictable problem of such hires playing both sides of the game simultaneously.

In one scheme cooked up by onetime local official (and now Democratic congresswoman), Janice Hahn, a gang thug with a long list of priors was drawing a big public paycheck to go round and intone "Guns are bad mmmmmkay" platitudes, while he was at the very same time masterminding an interstate gunrunning op, buying weapons for felons who couldn't legally purchase them themselves.

338 I wonder if women who equate a gaze or a word with actual rape are even able to imagine how horrid rape really is. I mean, if they had even a shred of understanding of the horror of rape, they would know better than to speak of it in the same sentence as something so trivial as a few hurt feelings.

IMO, rape is worse than murder, because you live through it, and the aftermath is nearly as horrid as the event itself.

But these women, they seem to trivialize it to the point of nonsense. It defies explanation and makes me wonder about their level of sanity.

341 As a WAG while looking at the track plot for GermanWings Flt 9525, it seems the plane stayed on course. And by the varying speeds and how the sink rate would decrease and increase before the sink rate got away while the airspeed fell, I get the feeling the crew was still fighting it but too focused on staying alive to send messages. But this is just a WAG.

I'm agree... mostly.

I think BOTH accuser and accused should be protected until AFTER and investigation and charges have been filed, at the very least. In better times, no one was called a rapist until they were charged AND convicted.

The problem I see is politicians/ media/ activists seizing on an accusation to further their own ends without any true consideration to the accuser or accused. This forces things into the court of public opinion before any facts are known about anything.

Its the same down the list of "issues": global warming, healthcare, you name it.

None of what anyone is doing has anything to do with identifying or correcting a problem. It is about using scaremongering, rumor, unfounded/ unverified accusations, and similar BS to chase celebrity, money, and political gain.

if there was a massive decompression that caused everyone to pass out, would that lead to this?

Posted by: alexthechick - Jazz Hands Gojira

Massive decompression would indicate a structural failure. This is not normally the sequence, but a slow decompression brought about by a leaky door seal or small skin damage.

With a leak, the red Master Warning Light in the cockpit would illuminate with an aural warning, and the specific CabinAlt on the master panel would illuminate in yellow. The response is pilots don immediate flow oxygen masks, cycle master warning light to silence visual and aural warning, check cabin pressure gauge, and if cabin pressure low, deploy cabin oxygen masks and begin descent to safe altitude of 10,000 feet

With a massive failure such as windshield blowout or emergency door failure, the crew has a few seconds to don oxygen. The differential is easy because there is snow in the cabin from the mixing of outside air with warmer internal air, but the probability of success is problematic.

When randolph macons women college went co-ed, there were all kinds of issues with the endowment.

Some of the money had been given under the express condition that it remain a womens college.

I remember there was an issue at sweet briar too, because the original land grant said it was a college for "young white women" or something, and people were worried that letting non-white women in would cause a problem.

It got resolved though.

Okay so cockpit decompresses because whatever and then the pilots pass out because no air and then the plane goes down.

Here's another really really really stupid question. Would the autopilot kick on as soon as they hit cruising altitude? Because it sounds like they took off, hit cruising altitude, flew a minute and then sharp descent into the mountain.

454 AlextheChick, a bad thing about the Airbus flight control system is it will outvote and override the pilots to initiate a recovery.

If my reading of the track log is right and the pilots were still alive and fighting to save the plane, if the Airbus FCS had not flipped into a more permissive mode that surrenders controls to the pilots, it could still override the pilots and crash the plane.

Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at March 24, 2015 02:58 PM (VpkjW)

Would the autopilot kick on as soon as they hit cruising altitude?

Posted by: alexthechick - Jazz Hands Gojira

Unsure of Airbus equipment, but most 'real' airplanes have a feature to climb and level at programed altitude.

I mentioned earlier on a previous thread about Eastern Airlines 401 that crashed into the Everglades in '72.

The crew of three on a Tri-Star 1011 became consumed with a landing gear light failure and never heard or saw the altitude hold (AltHold) feature release and the aircraft begin descent. It's dark over the Everglades at night with little or no visual references, but they were totally consumed with the gear problem. They flew the aircraft in a shallow descent into the ground. There were survivors.

If the German plane AltHold disconnected and the two man crew did not respond, it could have descended inadvertently, or the crew may have been incapacitated and unable to stop the descent.

460 Day flight. Everything is normal on climb out. Reaches programmed altitude. Starts the turn to get to Dusseldorf. That initial -318 altitude loss could be air turbulence. Then as it settles on a head of 26 degrees it starts to go south with an altitude loss of 1,455ft while ground speed dropped by 4 knots.

re: the plane crash

No distress call. There exists the possibility that something catastrophic happened so rapidly that the pilot was overwhelmed.

Is that likely? Sure. But this plane, for all we know so far, was flown into the ground at full tilt. That's stinks in Denmark, if you ask me.
