35 I saw those colors last night as I fell down a flight of stairs. However came up with the idea of the tooth fairy is an a$$. So Penfoldette has finally lost her first tooth, hurray, she is almost 7. So Mrs. Penfold sends me down to do the swap. I walk down the stairs at some ungodly hour of the morning to do it, my foot slips on something on the stairs and BAM, down I go the rest of the way - seeing aforementioned colors and cursing rather more than the traditional tooth fairy is supposed too - my right foot hurts likes a mfer. Good news, Penfoldette does not awake. I am able to continue on the mission. I then run into something left on the floor with the same right foot, more un-tooth fairy like language follows. Penfoldette still does not awake. Packages are exchanged and I hobble back upstairs. Mission accomplished. Mrs. Penfold asks what i was swearing about, I tell her, she rolls back to sleep - not very concerned. Marriage isn't a word, it is a sentence.

Yes, and as we've seen from the Obama example, the opportunities for graft when you're the president are virtually unlimited. Right now the Clintons just scam tens of millions. With Hillary in the White House, they can be scamming Billions (for themselves and their progeny), while also continuing to scam Trillions to various Dim special interest groups (like illegal aliens) to keep the Dims in power forever (or at least until the rioting and civil war begins).

205 Walking Dead has had so-so writing almost from the start. Rarely gets more interesting or original than standard thriller cliches and boring soap opera dramas. And the reliance on cheap implausible plot twists has always been fairly pathetic. Also some continuity whoppers like Eugene "knowing" about a cure when the regular group uniquely knows the facts straight from the now-blowed-up CDC itself - WTF? Lazy or not very talented writers - hmmm, sounds like Hollywood writ small.

So the Bander Boys and I watched "Whiplash" this weekend.

No. 1. Son is a big fan. I did not like. I love JK Simmons and will watch him in anything, and he was good, but he's good in Farmer's ads too.

Big plot holes and a character I didn't care about in the alleged "lead" role.

Yeah. Based on what people were saying about the series, I figured it had two good seasons in it. Three if the writers were willing to "go there" with the not-so-slow slide into insanity which is apparently depicted in the comic.

But this indefinite "group of nomadic survivors" thing just doesn't have that much play.

235 Kind of unintentionally hilarious self-parody in the bad Walking Dead scripts, though. Like the last couple - Teh Gay! being showcased (knee-slapping funny how the Aaron character likens hisself and his gay loverto the very odd Darryl as "outsiders" - WTF?) As if the society they came from when the apocalypse occurred hadn'tmadeTeh Gay theabsurd center-piece of everything.

And of course the totally implausible community of Alexandria (implausible in the framework the show itself has established, like so many of itssituations) is "sustainable!!!!" with ..... solar power(pixie dust!) that doesn't work and is never even a factor in baseload power like the community has. Uh huh.

One reason modern "entertainment" is so intolerable (aside from the very low basic quality itself) - Soviet-level, relentless proselytizing of the crudest sort on every idiotic, destructive hobby horse consuming the society, fromTeh Gay obssession to ignorant luddite "environmentalism".

Mockingjay Pt 1 made that much money because a) the previous 2 movies were so good and b) the promise of Pt 2.

Seriously, though, Mockingjay was the weakest of the 3 books (yes, I've read them, and even Mockingjay isn't bad just not as good as the other two). Largely this is because Susan Collins' politics (she started out trying to write about the evils of Conservatism) got in the way of an otherwise very good story.

I'll give her credit- she realized both extremes were bad and ended up with Katniss and Peeta opting for the "Leave Me the Fuck Alone" party. But she fought against her own prejudices for the whole 3rd book- and it shows.

WTF? What an empty-headed, emotional mess fills the heads of "conservatives", not just the idiot "left" and dumbed down masses.

There's nothing the slightest bit "historic" about an absurdly unfit and alien figure becoming president, due to his skin color. Obviously. Those people who lived in caves for the last 40 years (or all-white prosperious suburbs, ingesting the crap spewed by the "press" and the education industry) might be unaware that a black guy in charge of things (or a black woman) is, um, so commonplace that it's a non-issue for those in the real world.

And this idiot (Belling?) gives the standard wahh wahh "wasted historic opportunity to UNITE US!!!! and stuff" instead of noting how the "civil rights" movement/history has been indelibly tarnished with the lawlessness, racism, and tyranny it spawned. He laughably referred to racism being legal in the bad old days ..... uh, affirmative action, quotas, disparate impact? Heard of those, you doofus?

365 DOJ is considering disbanding Ferguson Police for being racist due to disparate arrest rates of blacks vs non-blacks.

Someone explain to me how this works. Not the justification part,
the part about the Federal DOJ "disbanding" a local police department.
How can they do that. Well, yeah, I know they took over GM and fired
the CEO, so they can do this, too.

If they use those numbers to "disband" Ferguson PD, they will. disband all the local PDs and replace with Feds.

Posted by: blaster at March 09, 2015 12:26 PM (Rx8ML)

I can't see how that would be even remotely constitutional, but you know, the Constitution says what those 9 people say it says these days.
That being said, St. Louis County is under the control of the D party. I have no idea how aligned they might be with the DOJ, but probably not so aligned that they want to be ruled by them. The new County Exec was elected SPECIFICALLY to replace the Scoamf loving Dem who held the office for so long. The county is close to being 50/50 R/D, but it's becoming more D all the time.

Still, if they let the DOJ rule them, there would be a monumental revolt, even from the squishy soft D folks who make up much of this county.

369 DOJ computes a Disparity Index to measure how much more often a city arrest blacks vs non-blacks. Every city arrests blacks more often cause blacks commit more crime. Whites get arrested more than asians, but DOJ doesn't care about that.

Ferguson Disparity Index is actually less than other St. Louis counties and basically the same as the state average.

In other words, there is no disparity in the Disparity Index. Blacks get arrested more per capita in every American city. Because blacks commit more crime per capita in every American city.

It's juvenile nonsense.

To change lanes, caught a few minutes of the mostly pathetic shill Hewitt last week, he was talking to some big-shot law professor/theorist/academic about SCOTUS. My gawd - the spectrum is SO far shifted out of common sense that it's now mostly a wistful mumbled fantasy that courts actually behave like courts. The two were discussing and lamenting the state of things, but just the framework within which they were operating was fairly stunning. Capricious judicial tyranny, no apparent path back to a legit constitutional arrangement.

441 Obviously neither MH nor Burt are idiots - quite the contrary - but yes thinking that there is some racial divide that any positive presidential behavior will *materially* is silly. Which is of course completely different than recognizing that a racial arsonist like Obama (stole that from somewhere, it's perfect) can do some damage. Damage yes, but more to the dignity of the office and country than to actual social realities.

The vibrant and ingrained racism in the black community, and that found in some parts of the Hispanic community, and the immaterial fringe sort found in the white community are not going to be helped one bit by any color of president doing anything one way or the other.

But enough of that.

It's also a way of completing the destruction of what's thought as state sovereignty. When all LEO's are federal, that means all infractions to the law are federal, even speeding tickets. You want to challenge a speeding ticket? Then you'll be stating your case to a federal judge.

Universal federal police means universal federal law.......on everything.

Yup. They've had crew served weapons, access to earth moving equipment and they have a monopoly on everything left behind on the East coast.

And these people get snuck up on by zombies in the woods, fortifications of pallets, and fuck up and manage to lose ever place they land.

Kinda like Lost in Space or Gilligans island. Or Scooby do, except that the dog was smarter and more appealing (not at all).If they ever extracted their heads from their asses, they could settle somewhere, create some kill zones like one guy did, and lure away and dispose of the critters.

Instead, they all look and act like rejects from bloombergs 'responsible gunowner' propaganda. Most should have died from gun accidents, shooting themselves.

Its all about that local yokel rednecked department showing up the DoJ and President Obama by releasing facts like the autopsy reports, like the video showing Mr Brown robbing a convenience store, leaking sworn testimony that supported Officer Wilson Version of events and forensic details on the gunshots themselves.

ALL of that was done to counter the "hands up dont shoot" narrative in the Press and coming from DC.

511 Yep, Costanza, Silicon Valley both funds the ecofascist cult and the Dem party - AND keeps CA (falsely) with one nostril above water, fiscally. A whole lot of pernicious impact, even downright evil, made possible by these tech people.

Think I've shared this before. Tycoon founder of Qualcomm did a radio spot for idiotic, ultimately defeated municipal minimum wage hike in San Diego. His radio spot was a pristine example of economic illiteracy, and general dumbness, in our civic culture.

He talked about how as a teenager he had worked in his parents' NYC restaurant. Uh huh. So? You're making the 100% opposite point you think you're making. High minimum wage leads to elimination of jobs, idiot, as they're low-productivity jobs. Such that minimum wage laws have led to declining jobs available to teenagers.

The perverse nature of our system is that people who are "smart" about making money often can and do use their money in idiotic ways that damage the society and economy that these people used to get rich. Put the top 10 tech tycoons in a room and you'd find no more social or political sense or sophistication than you would in a room full of summer interns (and House side interns, at that).

And how are Google or Facebook "tech" companies? They're advertising companies. Tech per se is not much of their activity or their revenue, is it?

529 So as long as we're talking about collection of personal info...

I had no idea that the iPhone 6 was counting my steps. I don't think it was ever explicitly mentioned to me when I upgraded to it. But yeah, it's right there in the "health" app that I CANNOT DELETE.

Sigh.

I just heard the SAE chant in the car at lunchtime. (Howard Stern, so uncensored).

It happens to the to the exact same cadence as an anti-SAE one we had in college.

"I'm sorry I pledged SAE
They're making a fag out of me
They're not like the others
They sleep with the brothers
I'm sorry I pledged SAE"

And yes, I denounce younger self.

534 No, I'm pretty sure of that. If the Feds tried to Federalize local PDs and tried to force States to change their constitutions? I'm pretty sure TX and OK would resist.

I think where my confidence in this falls short, is that so many people have bought into the paradigm of "united we stand, divided we fall". And people like Beck, Rush, Levin, etc., talking against any effort to divorce ourselves from DC in any way. I know the FCC has put limitations on speech of that sort, but the majority of conservative voices out there seem to think that the US can be saved in it's present form. A fear of civil war seems to pervade all their discourse.

I also might add that the Article V convention everyone keeps talking about won't make any difference. By the time they actually meet, the federal takeover will be complete. It's too late. We should have started this 20 years ago.

536 oh, MH, absolutely ditto on the JEF promoting positive things, of course that is correct. I'm referring to a different, infuriating meme that stipulates all kinds of myths about racism and simultaneously accepts an infantilized concept of the country.

It's just that 95% of today's increasingly delusional civic culture proceeds from false assumptions (on all fronts), and not confronting the base myths makes it impossible to make any progress.

Anyway, MY meme has always been "more symptom than cause" (referring to the JEF), and I mournfully stand by that one.

Took my wife out to see "The Patriot". She was pregnant. That did NOT go over well. In my defense, it was about the only time we went to see something, "that you'd be interested in" kinda date night. I had some misgivings, and had NO idea, beyond historical, war epic.

Yeah... I'm a data kinda guy. I like the idea of tracking weight lost vs calories burned (I'd probably do a week at a time). So the heart-rate is actually secondary.

And my workout routine is going to include strength training- so heart-rate and caloric burn do not (as I understand it) have the same relationship there as they do with cardio (walking, biking, etc.).

Boy geniuses at the OU chapter of SAE did a chant that included "there'll never be a n*gger SAE" and had a line about hanging them from trees.

Yeah, but I think there's still enough Texas Pride that Texas, at least, would resist.

And I think that if Texas does, OK would. If TX & OK do, then it starts bleeding into other States.

551 Okay, im an old metalhead at heart, but as ive aged i have taken to enjoying a wider expanse of music. While country music has never been my favorite, i have always enjoyed Johnny Cash as his music was more rock-n-roll with a dash of country mixed in so i could enjoy it. But i can say that my favorite rock/country song that is sad has always been Johnny Cash's Rose. First time i heard it my eyes teared up as i can relate to the lyrics. It was always a heart tugger of a song for me.

Find a farmer that still does square bales. Stack hay in field onto trailers. Nickle a bale. Normally 80 lb bales.
