Of Course: 'Hillary's State Dept. Forced The Resignation Of An Ambassador For Using Private E-Mail'

Hillary's Email Hacking Problem

As for the "security" of Hillary's e-mails, that train left the station a long time ago.  The infamous hacker Gucifer, now cooling his heels in a Romanian jail, first disclosed existence of the back channel system when he hacked into the e-mail account of Sidney Blumenthal, the long-time aide and confidant to the former Secretary of State.  While rooting around in Mr. Blumenthal's e-mails, he found a series of messages sent to Mrs. Clinton.  Many contained intelligence information, apparently gathered from Blumenthal's various contacts.  In some instances, he cautioned, the summaries contained "extremely sensitive" information, drawn form sources close to various foreign groups and governments.  Details of the e-mails were published at The Smoking Gun, but the information did not include Mrs. Clinton's responses.

Obviously, if a lone hacker was able to uncover Mrs. Clinton's e-mail domain, it wouldn't be very hard for the intelligence services of Russia, China and other U.S. adversaries to access her messages as well.  And it raises legitimate questions about the type of information the former secretary of state was sending via unsecure e-mail.

Now Would Be a Good Time For GOP Politicians To Shut Up For a Week or Two

Piece of advice to all Republicans; don't say a damn word about social issues, immigration, etc for 3-4 days. Just let is play out.

Muslim Men Who Join ISIS 'Attracted by the Entire Sexual Slaves Fantasy'

Well to be fair most of these guys had about a zero chance of pulling even one sex slave otherwise so I guess ISIS is the only game in town.

France Keeps On Harassing Bridgette Bardot

But doesn't quite have the couilles to actually make her a political prisoner.

France is run by socialist cowards who try to bully 80-year-old women rather than face up to the fact that it has been invaded by millions of Muslims, many of whom just want to kill all Jews and Christians.

Brigitte Bardot faces yet another trial for speaking out against Muslim terrorists -- a term that President Obama would like to ban in the United States.

The French have prosecuted her four times for "inciting racial hatred" -- even though Muslim is a religion not a race -- and found her guilty. Due to her age and worldwide respect, the French are too cowardly to jail her. In fact, in an odd way, it is rather amusing to see the neo-Vichyists give out sentences that are so lame, they only encourage her.

Victoria Cross Awarded

Lance Corporal Joshua Leakey, 27, of the Parachute Regiment, who has been awarded the Victoria Cross, the premier award for gallantry in the presence of the enemy.

On the 22 August 2013, Lance Corporal Leakey, deployed on a combined UK/US assault led by the United States Marine Corp into a Taliban stronghold to disrupt a key insurgent group.

On leaving their helicopters, the force came under machine gun and rocket propelled grenade fire, pinning down the command group on the exposed forward slope of a hill. For an hour the team attempted to extract from the killing zone; a Marine Corp Captain was shot and wounded and their communications were put out of action.

Lance Corporal Leakey said:
When you hear there's a man down, the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Clearly then your plans change.

Realising the seriousness of the situation - and with complete disregard for his own safety he dashed across a large area of barren hillside being raked with machine gun fire. As he crested the hill, the full severity of the situation became apparent: approximately twenty enemy had surrounded two friendly machine gun teams and a mortar section, rendering their critical fire support ineffective.

Under fire yet undeterred by the very clear and present danger, Lance Corporal Leakey ran across the exposed slope of the hill three times to initiate casualty evacuation, re-site machine guns and return fire. His actions proved the turning point, inspiring his comrades to fight back with renewed ferocity. Displaying gritty leadership well above that expected of his rank, Lance Corporal Leakey's actions singlehandedly regained the initiative and prevented considerable loss of life.

You can hear him tell the story in his own words here.

The 7 Destructive Habits of Highly Incompetent People
Number 1 - They Think, Say, & Do Negative Things.

Yup. They see problems in every opportunity.

They complain that the sun is too hot. They cursed the rain for ruining their plans for the day. They blame the wind for ruining their hair.

They think that everyone is against them. They see the problems but never the solutions.

Every little bit of difficulty is exaggerated to the point of tragedy. They regard failures as catastrophes. They become discouraged easily instead of learning from their mistakes.

They never seem to move forward because they're always afraid to come out of their comfort zones.

Thinking about this today. Barry/Eric have spent the last 6 years looking, hoping, praying for racial foment. Any civil rights case. A rape. A beating. A shooting. High and low, beating the bushes, applying political pressure, and, trying to trump up charges. Sharpton and Jackson stirring the pot harder than ever. Money pouring in from Sorros and like ilk. The full force of and credit of the U.S. Government invested.

And they have a smart mouthed prof in Massachusetts and a "beer summit," a punk kid in FL who no lever of law enforcement could get a conviction on, and, a "gentle giant" shot in Ferguson by a cop for whom the AG's offie can find nothing at all to prosecute despite the myriad of Federal hate and race based laws.

The key to being a perpetual victim, is to choose something that is no longer real...

Its like Sexism. Hey... guess what... Men and Women are different, and you cannot legislate them to be the same...

So you can now have a perpetual battle, against an opponent you can never really defeat... and can blame all of YOUR failings on...

Its like Lesbians saying they are discriminated against.... now just how the hell would most people know you were a lesbian, unless YOU made it an issue, and told them....

Racism... now pretty much falls into that type of category IMO.... once a real problem... now a minor problem that some SAY is still a big problem... so they can play the victim...

(not to be confused with culturalism, which is a CHOICE... as you choose... say... the Gang Bang culture to be a part of... so you should shut up and take the consequences of that lifestyle choice...).

There's something to that, but it's different with the faculty. They're bright and well-educated enough to navigate the pons asinorum, and hence their fallacies are more difficult to refute, and they're more capable of defending them.
Undergraduates (and most grad students, for that matter) are quite happy to trot out tropes that can be crushed out of hand (e.g., addressing "poverty" by increasing everybody's pay). Yet every year one has to deal with the same sophomoric tripe. It is a truly Sisphyean task, and ultimately dispiriting.

The skill of a lecturer is measured by his ability to judge the level of his audience, and to stay jussssssst a bit above it at all times. Not too much, but enough, that with a stretch the student can keep up. Too much above loses the audience through fatigue; too little loses it through boredom.

The really tricky part is dealing with an audience of mixed ability/ knowledge. The secret there is generous use of appositives, i.e., defining terms and concepts implicitly within a sentence (as I just did). That way those who aren't familiar with the term/concept can keep up, whereas those who are don't feel they're wasting their time.

I was always told that - but Europeans generally eat dinner no earlier than 8 or 9 and they are thinner than most Americans. I think it's better to eat a late dinner than dinner at 5 p.m. and than snack all evening in front of the TV.

You're right about only eating when you're hungry. I've done a lot of boredom and anxiety eating and it's really stupid because it's not like you enjoying or even really tasting what you're eating.

The best thing you can do for your body is eat 4, 5 ,6 small meals per day.

eat one meal daily? Your body is starving, and will start reserving fat and taking needed calories from muscle - not what what you want.

Always a mistake. Periodic breaks for questions are invaluable, as they give a chance for errors or misunderstandings to come to light, and give the lecturer a read on the comprehension by the audience. They give the audience a chance to kick back and rest for a few minutes. Long and/or rambling and/or off topic comments have to be sat on, immediately, as they presume on everyone's precious time.

Weird model where they ask a $5/month fee to comment and be part of the conversation.

Be fascinated to know how many subscribers they have. I doubt it's more than a few thousand. A few thousand paying $60 a year could a few hundred grand in annual revenue.

Well, the rhubarb can be picked as early as late May. Wild berries come on in June and July. Apples usually in August. Not many cherries other than pin cherries or choke cherries here. You can grow several varieties of apples. Peaches and plums, no, unless in a hothouse. Season is too short. And there are too many winter thaws, false Springs, as it were, which can really screw up plants that are used to regular seasons. Today it was 43 degrees, and bright sunshine, and no wind. I had to shed my jacket while working outside.

Ack. Yeah, that would be a waste of time. Questions, etc. are one thing; inchoate "thoughts" (aka "thoughtlets") are generally not worth much, to be blunt, and those soliciting them are generally trying to elicit favorable student evaluations. The way to handle them is to acknowledge having heard them, then move on without comment. That pretty much extinguishes the behavior.

221 OK, so I live in a mostly faux-news-free bubble ("faux" not a reference to Fox, but to almost all processed American "news" product). So maybe it's me.

But are "Republicans" of the sort who might be noticed actually out there talking about "social issues" so much that there needs to be an active effort to hit the kill switch on that for a week? I cannot remember the last time I heard any political figure talk about "social issues", apart from crude race-baiting from the JEF and his AG.

And immigration? Again, have not been hearing about it from anyone. And for the GOP to mention it, at this time, would have an irony and joy all it's own. And, of course, it goes without saying that the anti-lawlessness, anti-race-baiting positions on immigration enjoy wide bipartisan support across the whole country. So exactly what minefield is being avoided?

Much better to have said - "mostly shut up, and if you speak, pile on this particular issues." Quite revealing when the obsessive myths and upside-down political senses force their way into a bit of practical advice.

Nothing noticeably different other than the bar of soap lasting longer than a week. I'll be interested in seeing what my serum cholesterol reading will be in a month or so. Maybe the doctors will quit attempting to ram statins down my gullet every time I go in to get my thyroid meds refilled...

Yeah. That can be a problem, and in a large class (>100 or so), you're pretty much guaranteed to get a few. First time through, it's the thoughtful cock of the head throughout the spiel, then nodding and moving on.

If that doesn't work, a pointed question or two regarding his comment (usually totally unexpected by the narcissist) usually sets him back on his heels, and puts the wind up others.

I recently read that the ancient Romans never used soap. At the Roman baths, they would rub olive oil on themselves and then sort of squeegee it off (or have a slave do it) with a little rake -like thing. Then they'd soak in a pool. The author tried it and said it was in fact, an effective way of cleaning dirt off their hides, but pretty time-consuming compared to hopping in the shower with soap and a hand towel. You'd think the water in that pool would become pretty nasty and filmy after a while.

No word on what the olive oil method did for their tickers and arteries though.

Symptoms of poisoning from common pokeweed include a burning sensation in the mouth, salivation, gastrointestinal cramps, vomiting and bloody diarrhea. This is silly. Cholesterol is a component of cell membranes generally, including most notably nerve cells, and a starting material for the physiological synthesis of various steroids (e.g., sex hormones), bile acids (essentially solubilizing agents for dietary fats), and (IIRC) a precursor to vitamin D.

Was it the Symington Amendment that aimed to cut off US aid if the Paks got nukes- can never remember? Anyway, don't recall what actually happened, but we were going to help them use primitive sorts of PALs (permissive action links), essentially safeties, that impede unauthorized use.

It's fashionable here to dump on the MoU under which we evacuated nukes from Ukraine (and Kazakhstan and Belarus) after the Soviet collapse. Wrong. Getting those things out of circulation was by far the smart move. If you are warm and fuzzy about Paki nuke security, just savor the idea of Ukrainian and Belarus and Kazakh safeguards (pls refer to the plots of many 90s/00s thrillers for "loose" nukes from the former republics).

Did Bush know where Osama was? I think so, but for some reason it wasn't acted upon, probably because of the delicate relationship between us and Pakistan.

If I remember, Mushareff was ousted and Bhutto was assassinated and things were shaky over there.

Posted by: Soothsayer at March 05, 2015 11:50 PM (NitOS)

Bush was thinking long game and the logistics game. Pakistan has an ocean port, and getting material in and now out of Afghanistan would be much easier going through a country that is nominally friendly. The only other routes are through former Soviet states, and Ivan doesn't really like that. Plus, that calls for airlifting the materiel out. Thus, the need to not piss off Pakistan by going in their without their okay.

Obama decided to go in without their okay, and now we are airlifting materiel out instead of trucking it out to ships.

Posted by: Soothsayer at March 06, 2015 12:32 AM (NitOS)

A sweat lodge is the Plains Indian version of a sauna. Basically, they build a firepit, and tend a roaring fire for hours to heat up a bunch of rocks red hot. Big rocks, pumpkin-size. Then the fire is allowed to go out, and they build a lean-to of tree boughs over the pit. Then you go into the "lodge" and soak in the heat. And just like a sauna, if it gets too cool in there, dash some water on the hot rocks, and the resulting steam makes it smokin' hot in there again. I have been in one.

*Short Story Time*

I had a female friend who had moved to Arizona after College. she met a Native American guy and they decided to get married. I was invited to the wedding on the Reservation in 4 Corners. In July. Another guy friend of thankfully was invited as well. I came in from Atlanta, other guy from Chicago.

We get there, and find that the ceremony will be Traditional, IOW held in a sweat lodge. In July. I spent 2 hours in that fcuking lodge, with temps probably over 130, dripping the entire time.

When we were released from that hell, myself and buddy were asked to "help out" with the grilling. In fcuking 4 Corners. In July. Sure, why not? Turns out this guy and I grilled steaks for 120 ppl by ourselves over 2 grilles because on a reservation the men felt that work was beneath them.

So, this bitch, who stopped talking to either of us who had gone to all of this trouble to be there and help out, because new hubby suddenly decided her having 2 guy friends bothered him, basically imported 2 BBQ Chefs at their own expense and for no money. Schmucks, in other words.

The only good part of this now not short story is that we were sternly warned several times that there was no booze allowed on the Reservation. I looked and saw that 4 Corners was larger that, many states, so we both said "fuck that" and bought a shitload before arriving.

Where was I? Oh, yeah. Sweat Lodges suck.

It's not that soap is unhealthy (although it can be depending on what it's made of) it's that using too much can be deleterious to your natural skin fauna and flora which actually help prevent foreign invaders taking root and causing problems.

I can attest to this as after some operations in an intimate place, I've had nothing but trouble there with rashes and reactions that I never had before the operations. I ascribe it to the very powerful antibacterial agents they use on the skin to prevent exposing ones innards to them.

I understand the reasons they did it but it still caused me problems that are ongoing.

However there's no reason to not use soap if you're actually grimy and of course if you smell bad. That means the downside is less than the positive from using the soap.

There's also the concern about chills during bathing or showers and the after wards of being wet and being cooled too quickly.

That's just off the top of my (relatively clean) head.

However, isn't this one of the bazillion thing companies test for before putting someone in a job, rather than use as an excuse after the fact?

We have a local day spa. I've done the dry sauna -- which is good -- but prefer steam. They don't have snow and recommend a "cold plunge"......which I strenuously object to, being that it's working on the wrong end. Instead, I'll dump a bucket of the cold plunge water over my head -- seems to work pretty well.

But the basic alternation of heat and cool really feels great.

The Southern equivalent is probably when you do a lot of yard work in the summer, then take a cold bath. Bring something hydrating to drink, sit back, and enjoy it.

Posted by: Cato the Rebel Without a Party at March 06, 2015 01:32 AM (J+mig)

415 Incidentally, snow is not that cold to roll in. It isn't anywhere near as dense as water, and conducts heat pretty poorly. So you can roll in it, and feel your skin chill, and you get wet, but it doesn't chill you to the bone like a plunge in cold water would.

Yeah, well, the winter is about done with us around here. No snow to speak of, just piles of slop and dirty puddles, and gravel everywhere. It's hell on shoes, hell on cars, and not much fun. You can't play in it, you can't walk in it, and it isn't warm enough to just sit around in.

Like spring breakup for weeks on end. Bleaugh.

483 I swear to God I never expected to see the words knitted, tank and cosy in the same post let alone sentence.
Keep getting this recurring vision of David Attenborough describing moron and moronette warily approaching each other and beginning to display the natural signals so common to the species.....
Also known as showing your armaments.

484 Wretchard has done a great job of illustrating why I've been hunkering down -- http://tinyurl.com/q46r6mr -- my professional career has been about linking "accounting" with "accountability" through tying reality to results (in internal audit, external audit, and management accounting).

485 There is a Latin maxim -- "de gustibus non est disputandum" -- which has been widely cited and discussed. Taken literally, it says, "of pleasure, nothing is argued", but it's commonly rendered in English as "there's no accounting for taste."

Having been a CPA for a number of years, I can attest that its first corollary is "there's no taste for accountants."

487 I've done almost all of the improvements to the mini-mill and 7x8 lathe that I got on my recent trip to SoCal. The last big one involves drilling four holes and tapping three of them.

489 We have got to lay off of Hilxary. We need her as the candidate. We don't want to have to face an unknown. We get our asses kicked by unknowns. Let's get that idiot nominated, and then break her in the finals. I don't want to see Pocahontas (or what ever she says her birthright is), or some social worker from Hell on the ballot. I want to see a thoroughly clubbed frump up there. It probably won't matter, but I would rather go out knowing that we had destroyed a Democrat in our last free election in America.

My favorite of all of their songs. I like ballads, even though it's about a drug deal gone bad. Great guitar licks too.

As an old American taxpayer, I'd say you've had many insertions since the 90s. Mornings, nooners, and bedtimes too. All courtesy of DC.

And don't forget, BOHICA.

505 This might be a minor point, but I found it curious that the initials that were used are "hdr" as in Hillary Diane Rodham. No married name. Could it be that she doesn't think of herself as a Clinton any more?
