Alright, here's the Unbearable Rightness of the Horde.
Everyone in the MSM is going on about Hillary's e-mails and what did other SoSs do and blah blah blah.
No one has mentioned the bit Ace put up about how the e-mail address wasn't delivered in a reply to aFOIA request seeking all of her e-mail addresses. That is more of a smoking gun in my eyes.
I hate being so far ahead of the news cycle that the news cycle never catches up.

She placed *her* need for privacy - having her communications available for viewing by US citizens via FOIA - over *America's* need to have the Sec. of State's communications properly secured and protected from foreign, spying bad actors.

Someone I know with personal knowledge of the situation said this is common practice at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. It's used to cooridinate with political operatives, off the books, during in office work hours. If you want some real dirt, get into ValJarJar or Rhambo's private accts.

I'm not at all fond of the phrase 'crony capitalism' and it seems to be used more commonly by "conservatives" or those who are mostly on the right. For instance, I've spent a lot of time reading/watching videos about Common Core State Standards, and that phrase comes up a lot by CCSS critics.
My (mental) response is most always the same: 1) Cronyism? - absolutely 2) Greedy and Corrupt? - hell yeah 3) Free Market - not so much.
It just seems to feed into the misconception that if some corrupt bastard is getting rich that it automatically equals 'capitalism'. The Left is more than happy to keep that myth widely held (like fascism/Nazism being "right wing"). Score another victory for the enemy in the language wars.
I always use the phrase 'crony corruption' or something like that.

But I don't know if pride will allow him to demote himself from presidential candidate to Senate candidates. I'm not saying he's unduly proud, just that it would be tough for anyone to go from presidential candidates to Senate candidates in the same cycle.

What I find facepalming about Ben Carlson's comment isn't necessarily whether it's right or wrong, but how utterly impractical in terms of electability it is for republicans to discuss this. The culture has shifted, and it is overwhelmingly unlikely that social conservatives are going to win on gay/abortion issues. The rest of the conservatives and republicans have no interest in dying on that hill with you. Focus on fiscal and national security issues, then win the election. boom.

Seems like basic State-school admissions juggling to me. You want to serve your home state as much as possible, but part of why you can offer lower rates to your own kids is because of what you charge the out-of-state kids, so you have to find the right balance.

I'm not often in full agreement with HA, but they're spot on with Carson and the "choice" question.
If our choice is going to be between state-coerced acceptance and celebration of gays as some sort of "disability accommodation" (which is all the "born like this" argument amounts to) and getting the state out of marriage even for straights, I'll take Plan B.
It would of course make more sense to have this be a state-by-state decision, like abortion and other implacably divisive social/cultural issues, but if we have to have a national approach based on penumbras and emanations of the Constitution, better we leave all questions of the holiness of our matrimony to the churches and we all start drawing up civil marriage contracts rather than having Big Ghey use their spurious marriage rights as a battering ram to butt into our religions, businesses, etc..
And Ben, what the hell was wrong with just saying "I'm opposed to gay marriage because traditional marriage and the nuclear family are quintessentially American building blocks of our society and we don't know where all this experimentation is leading." Or anything other than the Santorum-esque shit that flew out of your mouth. I'm big on stating what you believe rather than over-messaging, but if you really believe prison sex is a good yardstick (SWIDT) with which to measure sexual proclivities, socially or scientifically, I'm not calling your office for a checkup anytime soon, much less voting for you for President. You want to serve your home state as much as possible, but part of why you can offer lower rates to your own kids is because of what you charge the out-of-state kids, so you have to find the right balance.

When those two adults use the state as a cudgel to influence my choices (e.g. bake my cake, rent me your honeymoon suite, etc) it's coercion. Pretty simple. Look at the cop in SLC who was disciplined for refusing to ride in the Gay Pride Parade. People were complaining that it was a 14th Am "Equal Protection" issue. As if there weren't sufficient cops to "protect" the parade (and from what) if they let him exercise his rights to live his life as he wanted?
Big Ghey isn't about "letting adults live life as they want" - that's what we were doing before 2% of the population decided to culturally carpet bomb the rest of us via the courts. It's about "I'm here, I'm queer, deal with it." It's about using society as a straw man for the parents, coaches and others who wouldn't accept them and teaching those fuckers a lesson.

As if there weren't sufficient cops to "protect" the parade (and from what) if they let him exercise his rights to live his life as he wanted?
Big Ghey isn't about "letting adults live life as they want" - that's what we were doing before 2% of the population decided to culturally carpet bomb the rest of us via the courts. It's about "I'm here, I'm queer, deal with it." It's about using society as a straw man for the parents, coaches and others who wouldn't accept them and teaching those fuckers a lesson.

I could assemble a group of 500 hot women standing on the corner in downtown San Diego for 2 hours on a Saturday night, 2/3 of which would be college educated and probably at least half in jobs which would be useful to a campaign. My grandparents lived next door to a gay couple. Richard and Lee. Two very sweet guys who have been together longer than I've been alive. They've never done any agitating for anything political, though they are democrats. This isn't really about them though, it's about my grandparents.
My grandparents were Reagan democrats. When Richard and Lee moved in, it was a bit of a scandal. Grandpa, especially, could be a bit bigoted in all areas. Grandma was a good Christian who worried about their souls.
And you know what? They all got a long fine. Grandma and Richard gardened together. Grandpa fixed their cars. Richard ended up a pall bearer at Grandma's funeral. Even though my grandparents disapproved of their "lifestyle" they loved them as sons and took care of them when they had hard times.
That's what liberals don't understand. It isn't about "hate". People can disagree with something without hating someone.
