For your amusement: some hipster lib who boasts of living in
Williamsburg got "assigned" to liveblog House of Cards straight through a
binge watch. Precious child she is, she thinks that both Frank and
Claire are perfect creatures worth ROOTING for. Spends a whole paragraph
talking about the outfit she picked out for the binge watch. I swear
this is not a parody.

Spoilers, I guess that's obvious, if you care. Where are

I see blue because, well, it is blue. if you see white and gold, i really gotta wonder how.

But it's interesting because some people's brains have convinced them that it is white and gold. In other words, their brain it looking at pretty much the simplest piece of information -- two colors -- and telling them that what they see is not real. This is self-deception in it's most elemental form. Their brain is basically saying "who are you going to beleive, me or your lying eyes?"

Now that is interesting to me, since this photo is a big deal on the lefty social media sites. The same sites that are immersed in self deception.

227 @219 But it's interesting because some people's brains have convinced them that it is white and gold. In other words, their brain it looking at pretty much the simplest piece of information -- two colors -- and telling them that what they see is not real. This is self-deception in it's most elemental form. Their brain is basically saying "who are you going to beleive, me or your lying eyes?"
----------------------

It has to do with a combination of things, including how your eyes interpret color in a picture (which is an attempt to simulate reality). I saw an image of the dress earlier today that had it hanging on the other side of a paned window. When seen through the upper panes, the dress looked white and gold. But when seen through the lower panes, the dress looked blue and gold.

233 Mrs. D'Oh. I don't blame your husband. I find myself becoming less interested in politics because it all seems so hopeless so much of the time. Republicans have the House and Senate, but the "leaders" are doing their best to lose as hard as they can, it seems.

And just when it seems they can't go any lower, this administration keeps plumbing the depths of ridiculousness, fecklessness, immorality, and general suckitude.

Your marriage is more important than politics, anyway. Like you said, you and D'Oh boy have him covered.

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at February 27, 2015 09:07 PM (CMkNk)

275 I'm watching a cheesy and often annoying but entertaining show on BBC called the Paradise. (Surprisingly cheesy for BBC, with a horribly miscast leading lady - pretty and blonde but extremely blah and colorless and capable of only 2.5 to 3 expressions. The supporting cast is much better than this chick. Also, the leading man should be taller than the leading lady he's romantically involved with, people. Anyway.)

It's set, probably in the late 1800s or early 1900s (no electricity), but of they decided to shoehorn all their lefty propaganda into the second season after a perfectly OK first season. So we've had a lesbian French chick women's libber. And now we have a very black dude photographer who, when he walked into the store, all the female shopgirls are swooning over him, saying how hot he is. (And in my corner of deepest darkest Africa, we would be like, um, that dude is really not good looking. But we're supposed to believe that he, like Lupita Nyango, is ethereally gorgeous. No.) In the late 18th/early 19th century. Right. And there's going to be a hot jungle fever relationship. With no one raising any eyebrows, I assume.

I mean, I agree with the lesbian chick that women should not have to give up their careers when they get married, even if they don't have or can never have children (like the middle aged head of the ladies department who got married recently). And I myself have been a participant in interracial relationships with actual white men.

But is it too much to ask for people to be historically accurate? The way things were is how they were and we can't change the past. Isn't it enough to be grateful that things are better for women and non-whites now?

They even have lesbian bestiality on Doctor Who and all the Victorians (except the evil bad-guys) are totes cool with that.

They need to convince people perversity is normal, that Britain was evil (and thus it's totes cool to "fundamentally remake it"), and that slavery to the welfare state is freedom.

Why, to cover up their own penchant for perversions like necro-pedophilia.

It's like how they told us that the Sudanese model Alek Wek (sp?) was so so gorgeous. We have many pretty girls in the different parts of Africa, but no.

I feel it's guilty, uncomfortable white liberals not knowing how to even gauge the attractiveness of this unusual black lady creature and just proclaiming her oh so lovely to feel comfortable with themselves.

338 I think I got some exciting Entertainment! news today. I just plain don't go to movie-houses, many reasons as often belabored here. The nearest exhibitor of any sort, just over walking distance, is an old neighborhood theater that, years ago, used to run second-round and odd movies, anything that wasn't X or near it, under the auspices of a church. It was great. That's where I first saw "Runaway Train." Life was good.

That didn't work out for them (lack of non-NC17's, I reckoned), and the movie house reverted to a place to hold outreach services. OK, that was over. Too bad.

According to their flyer in the mailbox, they're going back to it. And in two weeks, will feature "American Sniper." Looks like I'm going to the movies.

No it's not just you Chique. Overall I like her but she's a bit overhyped. She dressed amazingly well last year, in Oscar mode, but she's slipped this year. People either pretend that's not the case or are truly blind. And they act like she is some sort of relatable Sistah from the hood. Gurl please, she is from an uber rich African family that could afford to buy her an acting career via nepotism. I haven't seen 12 years so I can't judge her acting though, but I think she is a decent actress. Not saying she didn't deserve her Oscar. But until I can see her in more stuff and until she ups her dress sense again, I am giving the people who coo over her endlessly side eye.

Posted by: Stringer Davis at February 27, 2015 09:34 PM

I'm guessing you will like it. We seldom go to the movies, watch them at home later.

Except the ones you really need to see on the big screen to get the full experience, like Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park or American Sniper.

American Sniper is one of the best "war movies"
but it's also more than that. Clint can laugh all the way to the bank after the Academy Awards snub.

395 Savannah has its own St. Trayvon.

So, a gangbanger who has a history of beating his kids, is arrested for a parole violation.

He's a tall, rangy dude, is put in the back of the patrol car, somehow manages to get his long, rangy arms out from behind his back, kicks out the window, and emerges with a gun in his hands.

He's killed by (natch) the white officer (the black officer is nearby).

City goes nuts. Not Ferguson nuts, but nuts.

Grand Jury this week finds no reason to charge white cop with anything.

Locals are going nuts. A local "pastor" talks about this "young man had a great life ahead of him."

Dude had bath salts, cocaine, and pot in his system. And once again, I must mention he beat his poor kids.

Next year, the JEF can honor this asshole during national Black History Month. Just like St. Tray Table.

Be interesting to find out what West Africans thought of the Chadic people like the Hausa. They seem to be on Boko's main hunting-ground, which has to suck.

405 Hausas are one of the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria. They're pretty spread out and are found as far as Ghana. Yeah, Boko Haram is terrorizing the north of Nigeria, where Hausas (and other ethnic groups) live.

What about lesbian quokkas wearing dresses?

408 >>> So what does she do, she slaps him and says, "I am not your chattel. Harumph." OK, I get it, the guy is pretty condescending and probably overprotective but did he really deserve a slap as you guys were making up after a lover's quarrel? Really?

I think the feminist answer would be "well all men deserve slapping!" Or something. You are intriguing me about this show, hah. Wanna watch to see how bad it gets.

But I think this femininizing of history is how Marvel totally screwed up Agent Carter. Constantly drops anvil bombs about how much men at this time are clueless pigs that don't properly value women. And they wonder why young males, Marvel's bread and butter, stopped watching?

It takes a Russian double agent to drop the idea to clueless American male spies that maybe, just maybe, women can be just as deadly as males and not to underestimate them. No matter that Washington used women as valuable female spies even before we WERE a country. I'm sure the spies on our side figured this out without your help, no thanks to you Marvel writers.

And these same feminist viewers bemoan the fact that the series will most likely remain a one shot? Shut . Up. Gah it's infuriating.
