Random Folks Destroy Some Random Things and Knife a Random Person to Death

Random property damage.

They destroyed a library containing 112,000 rare volumes, then went on to a museum to destroy antiquities.

Random murder and maiming:

A Bangladeshi-American writer who endured threats from Islamists over his secular views was hacked to death in Dhaka late Thursday, reports say.

Avijit Roy, 42, was a naturalized American living in Georgia. He was a frequent critic of radical Islamic doctrine. At least two attackers descended on Roy and his wife, blogger Rafida Ahmed Bonna, near Dhaka University. She was hospitalized with several stab wounds and a severed finger.

No arrests have been made and no suspects identified. But police reportedly found two machetes and a finger at the scene. The couple was in Dhaka to attend an annual national book fair where two of Roy's works were being promoted.

Crusades. So get off your high horses.

Muslims. Is there any ancient library they won't burn?

In a civilized world these murderers would be killed, and then there would be reprisals against their vile co-religionists for the sake of the ancient books lost to their barbarity. It's a crime against humanity.

46 This is what gets me: I am seeing more coverage on the destruction of antiquities than I have on their regular garden variety killing of homosexuals.

Historical artifacts are vital, they are things which cannot be replaced and have value in that, as we understand the past, we can understand ourselves today.

So many on the left however, seem to view so many of those killed as being beneath notice- even when they are members of their recognized special groups.

Books are important, but so are people. I know we get into this mindset that there have been so many deaths that we begin to lose sight of the individuals- they get lost in the crowd. Stalin's maxim is true in a horrific way.

Books and statues are important, but people are too.

Sounds like start, as long as there's a large body count. That would be enjoyable for a moment, but then while some portion of the scum would be angered, most of the rest would probably be indifferent or rejoice. Their internecine hatreds cause them to see each other as near-apostates, so they seem to revel in each others' deaths and suffering.

Anyway, pinpricks and half measures (though satisfying or a while) are not the right medicine. When your house is infested with vermin it's going to stay infested until you kill the last of the pests. Since we're not, as a culture, willing to solve the problem it's just going to get worse and worse until a real crisis is provoked. I hope there are still enough Rightists by that point to offer the necessary curative.

But 'travel trailers' are also something to consider...

People like travel trailers because you can go 'off road' with them, moreso than with an RV.
You can also park the trailer, unhookit...and then have your truck to use for transportation, when you get to where you're going.

Germans and Japanese are human beings. Yet these degenerate muslim savages, who's uncultured depravity makes the Nazis look civilized, are handled with kid gloves.

As I so often say these days - every element of our nation is run by the worst people who could be chosen. Thus there are no good decisions, no wise policies, no right actions. And there's no hope for this place except for a delay of the inevitable collapse.

Don't think there's any proof of that, and going with my gut here, I'm going with the original theory that was around for 1000 years that the Muslims did it.

The leftist weren't so upset when the Taliban was killing women and non-muslims in Afghan, but they got real upset when those statues were destroyed.

They stopped destroying them when Bush sent the troops in to stop them from killing non-muslims and women.

Don't think the left doesn't remember what needs to be done to stop it, and you know they don't want to take the steps necessary.

Remember how Bush was attacked for not securing museums right at the beginning of the Iraq War? Funny how Hollywood had a movie called "Monuments Men" come out a few years ago.

133 >>> Anything beautiful, anything worth preserving, is intrinsically unislamic. Whatever man can create that is good is unislamic.

I feel your feels, but at the same time there's no need to resort to pure hyperbole. Since they don't do people iconography, Muslim artists use other artistic motifs to reflect their devotion; the intricate geometric designs in their mosques is actually quite beautiful. And this is even in mosques they created themselves, and not cathedrals they appropriated and turned into mosques, like the Hagia Sophia.

So they do have artists in their midst, creating beautiful things. But the fact that they cannot tolerate art differing from their own religion and culture, to the point they must destroy it rather than let it be...monstrous.

Nope, nope, nope, love ya JJ but cannot let this false history stand, is one of my pet peeves.

The pyramids were build by Egyptians themselves during the old kingdom period. It was not until the New Kingdom period that Jews were used as slaves for building projects, and they built temples and other things. But not pyramids, pyramids were solely an old kingdom thing. Too cumbersome and too easy to rob, thus ruining your afterlife jollies; new kingdom kings got smarter.

But New Kingdom monuments were still massive beasts of projects, and still a horrible thing to make the Jews build.

A pain to set up in the rain, but it beat tent camping by having a king-sized bed, electricity, a refrigerator and a sink. Made travel that much more fun, and camping was a dream. It also had a propane stove that you could move outside to do the cooking, so the camper didn't end up smelling like old rancid bacon grease.

I think I would prefer a hard side this time, but not a whole lot bigger. Don't mind the towing part, and it's nice to set up camp and still be able to run into town if you like.

That's the Matt Bracken solution. Islam, in part, requires worship of a particular thing in a particular place. Destroy both, and two of the "pillars' of their religion are gone, and cannot be replaced. By definition, Muslims could no longer practice their religion.

What the end result would be, who knows, but it would mess them up pretty darned well.

Her car was t-boned, and totaled. She told my husband she wasn't hurt, but husband told her she might feel badly today. She did.

Anyhow, the school bus union here has a horrible reputation, of leaving little kids at the wrong stops, traffic accidents, etc. UNION drivers.

342 Sleeper trains.

Russian train guages are wider than the rest of the world (not sure, but might have been to complicate invaders' logistics). In any case, the Soviet inter-city overnight trains were one of the few truly enjoyable experiences the place had to offer.

Only clean (hell, only "human") bathrooms I saw in several months in the USSR, outside of Intourist hotels, were onthe trains. No mystery. Each car had a woman in charge ("dezhurnaya" from de jour - basically the boss of a train car or apt. floor or something like that). Let's just say you wouldn't want to mess with these ladies. (recall the number of top WWII Soviet snipers who were women)

But I still fondly remember the trip. They didn't have welded rails, so you got the old "clip clop, clip clop" vibration/sound when the train was moving. Watching the endless stands of arctic birch and lakes go by in the moonlight. Drinking an impossible amount of vodka (and champagne).

347 So, you're hopping on a plane tonight to join the Peshmerga, right?

Not
singling you out, but the fact of the matter is that there aren't
really many folks lining up to go fight them. Most folks don't really
*do* violence anymore. So much so, that as a civilization, we kind of
don't know how to deal with it on a prolonged basis.

Posted by: Fa Cube Itches at February 26, 2015 08:58 PM (amQXf)

Married someone who knows how to do violence. I keep the home fires burning, he gets paid to kill people and break stuff.

348 >>But I still fondly remember the trip. They didn't have welded rails, so you got the old "clip clop, clip clop" vibration/sound when the train was moving. Watching the endless stands of arctic birch and lakes go by in the moonlight. Drinking an impossible amount of vodka (and champagne).

350 I swear on the Bible, the last few months, I wake up every single morning, praying, "Dear God. Let this be a good day."

And then I turn on the news and each day is worst than the previous day.

I have a good friend who is fighting (hopefully) her last battle with awful cancer.

Husband's young cousin, married and a mother of a toddler, just learned last week she has stage 3 breast cancer.

I lost my BFF last April, and am having a hard time dealing with her husband dating just a couple of months after her death. He and new girlfriend were going to come for a visit Valentine's Day weekend. I made a case to husband why I didn't want to deal with it, so they have post-phoned it.

352 I can't stand the news today. Christians kidnapped by savages who will put them through the torments of hell - and most people, including the ones in power, don't give a shit. Ancient books destroyed - nobody gives a shit. The FCC takes over the Internet and nobody gives a shit. The Congress we were so happy to elect in November is a bunch of worthless, craven pussies. I hate Boehner and McConnell worse than I hate Obama and Pelosi and Reid.

But let's talk about a comment Scott Walker made a at CPAC.

Ah, God, I'm too depressed to hang around here. I'm going to go read or watch some stupid movie or something. I don't want to dwell on this shit any more.

356 Would love to do the Trans-Siberian some day, see Lake Baikal and other things. Took a short segment of it once (overnight? can't remember now, and this was just mid-90s) from Vladivostok to Khabarovskin the far east.

Only did the sleeper thing once in the US. NY to DC. Saw a hockey game at the Garden, then left for DC. Got stucknear Philadelphia - for hours. No weather, just a technical problem. Missed a big event in DC. Sleeper was OK, but just didn't compare with the Soviet experience.

357 " Mom was sure the Japanese taxi driver taking us to Tachikawa AFB was deliberately trying to kill us"

Tachikawa and Yokota. 1958-61

Still have memories of kite flying and Boys day, and the bungalows that Enlisted lived in at the time

Went back and saw Yokota in '08 when I was stationed in Sasebo on USS Essex.

Used to get a kick out of telling the younger Sailors that my first overseas tour was back in 1958.

Well thats the opposite of what I was taught in drivers ed...
And not common sense at all. if you're merging, adjust your speed to shoot the gap, don't expect the guy going 65 to slam on his brakes to accommodate you.
Posted by: mynewhandle at February 26, 2015 08:21 PM

I'll have to agree w/ mynewhandle. When TF did a merging vehicle get the right of way, makes no sense.

There used to be a few lines into neighboring Eastern Bloc countries from Mother Russia where a complete gauge change would be performed on the train at the border.

I tried to order and they said they couldn't process my credit card. I tried about five times before giving up. There is nothing wrong with my credit card. Is that their way of saying they were out of stock?
