Actually, alpacas are very sweet. You're totally right about the soft yarn though. It's one of my favorites to spin. Llamas have less soft coats, but they have been bred for much nicer coats in the last decade or so. I'm plying a llama/silk blend (almost) as we "speak" (had to move my wheel out of the way so I could type).
