Ace, et al, thanks for the post re smoking. I started working in restaurants when I was in 11 and soon realized that was the only "break" you got. Plus I liked that it was rebellious. I once quit for more than two years but have been back smoking again. The truth, for me I think, is to stop drinking as well for that "quitting smoking" period because alcohol surely drives the connection hard (strangely not coffee) and weakens willpower. @102 What fight? This was on an EO, right? Can't Congress set aside regulations by agencies?
----------------------- Yeah, but it requires an override of the inevitable veto. Might be doable with some work. But so far as I can tell Boehner and McConnell don't appear to want to actually work right now... Part of the problem is that the FCC appears to be refusing to let *anyone* know what's in the upcoming regs. Drudge had (and might still have) a headline about the FCC head refusing to appear before Congress. I don't think you can set aside a regulation until you know what the regulation actually is. How can the Majority Leader in the House not have talked to the Majority Leader in the Senate for 2 freekin weeks?! They don't talk strategy, they don't get their party's goals consistent from one chamber to the other, they don't share talking points to stay on message. Fucking amateurs! Worse than D league.
