Horror: Islamic State Raids Three Northeastern Syria Villages; Takes More Than 90 Men, Women, and Children Captive

For purposes which seem all too obvious.

Islamic State militants have abducted as many as 90 Assyrian Christians after overrunning several small villages in northeast Syria, an activist group said Tuesday....

Nuri Kino, the head of the activist group A Demand For Action -- which focuses on religious minorities in the Middle East -- said the militants took between 70 and 100 Assyrians captive....

ISIS' online radio station, al-Bayan, said in a report Tuesday that ISIS fighters had detained myriad "crusaders" and seized 10 villages around Tal Tamr after clashes with Kurdish militiamen. ISIS frequently refers to Christians as "crusaders."

Some guess (or hope?) that IS has kidnapped the civilians to force a prisoner swap, and get back some of their captured fighters.

Meanwhile, a Frenchwoman has been kidnapped in Yemen. American officials suspect the motive is "random."

Christians are supposed to go willingly to our deaths in the name of Christ, but Christians refusing to oppose Mohammedans are doing no such thing. They're not being killed or enslaved because they're Christian, but because they're simply not Mohammedan.

We're allowed to fight back in those circumstances.

48 A random foreign policy doesn't seem to be the best and brightest approach to current events. In fact, it is beginning to seem like it's more of a "DO stupid stuff!" policy.

The only coherent actions coming out of the Obama administration are the ones that are designed to decrease the freedoms of American citizens. Those he has a plan for! Better yet, he has friends across the saisle that are willing to help him implement them.

Posted by: Hrothgar at February 24, 2015 01:15 PM (ftVQq)

49 I think the core of this comes down to the following:

ISIS members are just looking for good jobs to support their families with, and something got lost in translation when we told them to call a head hunter and send over their resumes.

If we could just open a better line of communications and say "head hunter does not mean literally hunting for heads to chop off," I think we would resolve all of this.

And the crusades.

Oh, and the British in the Malays in 1950.

The modern left is a bit like Hinduism.

You are born into your caste. Your caste depends on your karma. Your karma is determined by actions of your forebears. Nothing you do affects your karma..you are stuck with it for life. Now in the leftwing victim caste system there are two sorts of karma..the good sort of karma is from how much oppression your caste supposedly receives. Lets call this "victim karma". The more victim karma you have, the more inherently moral you are. You can also have negative Karma..lets call it "Privilege". The more "Privilege" you have the worse you are. Your caste is determined by the difference between the two.

Nothing you do has any effect on your victim karma. Your caste is set at birth. A black spree shooter has more inherent moral worth than a white philanthropist due to his superior karma. If you want to improve your karma, your only hope is that you can somehow convince the priesthood that you actually belong into a different caste. So you put on a wig and call yourself trans. Or you pretend to have mental disabilities.

Now its not enough to have a caste..you have to show your caste in order to display your victim karma. So, with the precision of a scientist enumerating a new species you display all your adjectives so people can see where your victim caste is. You aren't just a woman…you are a black cis gendered Jewish lesbian. That way you know precisely who you can feel superior too, and who you must grovel before.

Y'know, I'm gonna disagree with you here.

We "orientalized" Islam by ascribing to it the Western notion of "religion."

In fact, only we in the West separate out "religion" as something different from daily life.

Islam is not and never was a "religion." That's jyst outsiders failing to understand it.

Islam is instead an all-emcompassing political, personal, military, moral and (yes, also) spiritual rulebook governing all aspects of human and social behavior.

It is much closer to being a "life philosophy" or an "ideology" than a religion. It is way larger than being a mere cult.

Even the tiniest, most absurd details are covered by the rules of Islam: the way you wipe your ass, how often you can rape your slave, highly specific rules about when it is OK to lie, etc. Even this: Islam has rules specifying that it is acceptable to swallow "pre-cum" during blowjobs, but swallowing semen is completely taboo. (Seriously.) That's how detailed it gets.

What makes it especially fascinating is than from our moral framework, most of the stipulations outlined in Islam would under our rubric be deemed "evil."

91 This is awful, but it serves a reminder as to what human history looks like. You must take steps to defend yourself which are most effective in cooperation with like minded (or blooded or whatever) people in your immediate vicinity because some days, those folks over the hill who are already cooperating may just get the idea to come slaughter a bunch of your people.

Usually there was some sort of demand for tribute to avoid the slaughter part for the cowardly, but sometimes they just want the slaughter part.

In either case it is always the better option to slaughter them for the attempt and retaliate sufficiently that their sons and grandsons don't think it's a good idea to mess with you.

American 'crusader' returns to Iraq with Christian militia to fight ISIS: Tattooed former US solider 'wants to keep the church bells ringing' in ancient community

122 Christians are supposed to go willingly to our deaths in the name of Christ,

I don't know about that, AllenG. Certainly we are not to renounce Christ in the face of death (both for the witness it serves and for the sake of our own souls), but I think there's leeway up until the point we're overpowered to go ahead and fight. Peter was wrong to defend Jesus by the sword as it was a continuation of his rejection that Jesus had to be put to death, but he had the sword because Jesus told him to buy it in the first place. Further the early church didn't just sit around waiting to be stoned, they ran, and took the message with them. Which isn't as satisfying as standing and fighting, but it still served God's purposes.

Got to disagree with you there.

What I do in public is informed by my Christianity. The votes I cast (or, increasingly: do not cast), the jobs I am willing to do, and so forth are all dependent upon my Christianity.

You are right that it is a very Western thing (and a very recent western thing, really) to separate "religion" from "daily life," and not necessarily a correct thing.

You will often hear Christian apologists say "everyone has a religion, even the atheist." And this is true- if we really believe that God exists, and we then really believe a set of truth statements about him (which is what religion is), then we'll act one way. If we don't, we'll act differently.

Mohammedanism is a religion inasmuch as it *is* a complete world view.

Read the Jewish law sometime. It's not as crazy as Mohammedanism, but it gets pretty detailed.

It was a very, very radical thing for Jesus to say to the pharisees, "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and unto God what is God's." The separation between "religion" and "culture" is very recent, even in the West.

I think we forget that Christianity is the same in that respect (being all encompassing) because the rules it gives are so broad. Jesus affirmed two Commands, gave one other, and then gave an instruction to the Apostles- all Christianity comes down to those 4 things:

* Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.
* Love your neighbor (defined as enemy) as your self.
* Love each other as Jesus loved us (that is: completely self sacrificially)
* Go into all the world preaching the Good News and converting all nations.

4 rules. Very broad. And we still screw 'em up every day.

But don't pretend they're not supposed to affect what we do in every aspect of our lives.

I'm actually curious how many "militia"-men there are in the United States. The Freemen can't be more than a few thousand. The Klan probably has more gov't agents at their meetings than members.

I went to a Boy Scout summer camp in Idaho one year. They warned us not to leave the camp because there was a skinhead group just down the road. I later found out they weren't lying to keep us in line, but there were only 200 people.

Based on some poking around I'd put militia numbers in the 10K order of magnitude. That's what the Federal Gov't wants us to fill our pants over.

Meanwhile a full 30% of Muslims want the strictest Sharia law. That's at least the population of the United States worth of people.

147 We stand in shock and horror as ISIS kidnaps, enslaves, rapes and beheads any infidels they come across. We are stunned that any extremists could act this way.

But I have news for you:

Muslim warriors have been doing exactly this, continuously for 1400 years.

What do you think happened, precisely, when the Arab armies "conquered" Christian Egypt or Zoroastrian Persia or a hundred other places they invaded? It wasn't some clean, proper and stately victory with defeated generals in top hats signing surrender treaties.

It was a nightmarish years-long atrocity exhibition of constant brutal and pitiless rape, torture, enslavement, murder, beheadings and forced conversions. All day, every day, for a thousand years.

The behavior of ISIS in 2015 is no different from the behavior of any Muslim army from any year of Islam's existence. The only difference is that now we are witnessing it first-hand in real time, rather than reading about it in a history book, which dulls its gory reality.

We have no Biblical accounts of Christian martyrs lifting a single finger to defend themselves.

From Stephen to Paul, they went boldly proclaiming Christ and made no attempt even to escape their killers. Stephen even echoed Christ: "Lord forgive them..."

It is my understanding of Scripture that when it comes to being persecuted for Christianity, I'm supposed to rejoice in it. When it comes to being murdered or enslaved because I don't happen to be the right "kind," I get to defend myself.

YMMV.

I've read the DHS report. It's a very poorly written document. It only discusses about ten of the reputed events and of those, all but two or three are summarized as "based on media reports." There's a footnoted caveat that although these cases are based on unattributed media reports, there's no reason to doubt the veracity of those reports.

Also, keep in mind, that the only media outlet that has seen this report is CNN. Gee, it's as if someone (SPLC) slapped together some bullshit (mostly about the "sovereign citizen" movement) under the auspices of DHS and then handed it to CNN with a sticky note attached reading, "You know what to do."

Of course. Why do you think I call them an evil death cult?

I am not making any statement that should be construed as saying that Mohammedans are justified in their evil, let alone actively condoning it. They are not and I do not. They are evil in every sense of the word. They worship Ba'al and Ashura, just as their forebears did.

But that does not change the fact that it *is* a "religion."

Christ's biggest example was of the good samaritan, and I don't get the impression the folks who failied in the parable saw the injured man as an enemy so much as more hassle than they could be bothered to deal with.

Enemy would be a subset of neighbor, but I would put them lower on the priority list than for example fellow Christians ("the least of these My brothers") or literal neighbors (the wounded stranger in the road).

Did or did not God appoint leaders over the people of Israel- first the Judges, and then the Kings?

I am not claiming that Judaism and Mohammedanism are in any way morally equivalent. Zombie stated that Mohammedanism is not a religion. I was pointing out that is an erroneous statement.

And I'll still say that a complete divorce of religion from culture has not been a good thing. I am not here advocating for a state religion, but if more people examined the questions from a religious (or, if you will, "consistent philosophical") standpoint, we'd likely have fewer issues than we do today.

It was people acting in civic society based on their (largely) Christian ideals who ended slavery, after all. Not just in our own War between the States, but in Europe as well (without the violence, natch).

192 When Islam originally raised the flag of Jihad, one of the first targets was Zoroastrian Persia. Their leader exchanged letters with the Caliph;

Our lord is Ahura Mazda it is strange that you people also, just
discovered him named him Allah O Akbar! But we are not the same as
you, we are not in the same level as you. We help other human being, we
spread love among humanity, we spread Good throughout the Earth, we
have been spreading our culture but in respect for other cultures
throughout the whole world for thousands of years, yet you in the name
of Allah invade other men's land! You mass murder the people, create
famine, fear poverty for others, you create Evil in the name of
Allah. who is responsible for all this catastrophe?

Is it Allah who commands you to murder, pillage to destroy?
Is it you the followers of Allah who do this in his name?
Or Is it both?

You
have risen from heat of the deserts burnt out infertile lands
with no resources, you want to teach people the love of God by your
military campaigns the power of your Swords! You are Desert
Savages, yet you want to teach Urban people like us who lived in the
cities for thousands of years, the love of God! We have thousands of
years of culture behind us, a powerful tool indeed! Tell us? With all
your military campaigns, barbarianism, murder pillage in the name
of Allah O Akbar, what have you taught to this Muslim Army? What
knowledge have you taught the Muslim that you also insist on teaching it
to non Muslim? What culture have you learned from your Allah, now that
you want to force-teach it to others?

Alas, Oh Alas...... that
today our Persian Armies of Ahura have been defeated from your recently
Allah Worshiping Armies; Now, our people have to worship the same God,
the same Five times a day, but forced by the sword to call him Allah
pray to him in Arabic, cause your Allah only understands Arabic!

The big difference between islam and Christianity as you describe? One word: Choice. I can choose on a daily (hourly, etc) basis if I'm going to act out of self will or God's principles without the threat of getting burned alive in a cage or having my head chopped off.

A life based on self will eventually becomes unteneble. But the choice is still there to go on to the bitter end or accept some very simple spiritual principles. No one is going to kill me for choosing one way or the other except by way of events from acting out of self will. The choice is still mine to make freely without threat.

Christians choose, islam kills.

(rough quotes ahead- I'm not looking it up to make sure I get it word for word)

"Who was the better neighbor?"
"The Samaritan."

Jews of the 1st Century hated Samaritans, and the feeling was mutual. Jews called Samaritans "mongrels." For a Samaritan to have stopped even to check on the man in the parable- let alone go to the lengths he did- would have been absolutely shocking to Jesus's Jewish audience.

Though, in one sense, you're right. We have limited resources, and we're supposed to spend them reasonably- first to keep ourselves from being a burden on others, then on fellow Christians who need help, then on our (physically) immediate neighbors, and so forth.

210 Okay... I really didn't mean to start a comparative religion discussion here.

Once more- I am not in any way claiming that Mohammedanism (which is an evil death cult) is morally equivalent, or equivalent in structure (for lack of a better word) to Judaism, Christianity, or even Hinduism, Wotanism, or Wicca.

What I am saying- and everyone seems to agree with here- is that Mohammedanism *is* a religion, because it does what religions do: claims to answer questions about the origin of man and our moral purpose, and to then prescribe some behaviors, and proscribe others, toward the end of meeting that moral purpose.

It is *evil.* But it is nonetheless a religion.

263 Another thing to remember:

ISIS are not Islamic "extremists." They are simply observant Muslims. Run-of-the-mill followers of Islam who actually abide by the dictates of Islam.

They are, properly, middle-of-the-road "average" Muslims.

Those people in the Middle East whom we westerners dub "moderate Muslims" are in fact all backsliders and apostates -- people who don't follow the rules of Islam at all (or who only follow a couple easy and convenient ones).

So not only are ISIS et al. "Islamic terrorists" (in contradistinction to what Obama wants to call them), but you can just drop the "terrorist" part too.

ISIS are Muslims. Acting as Islam instructs them. That's all.

264 I have a question. In the Bible they talk about heeds of swine. Who were the swine raised for? If everybody was Jewish they would not eat swine.

This gets to a historical question that I don't think the Bible addresses. So take the following with All The Grains Of Salt.

My understanding:
1) You won't find a whole lot of allusions to pig farms in the OT, they're mostly NT.

2) By the time of Christ, Israel/Judea had been subsumed by the Roman empire. While Jews didn't eat pigs, Romans (and other people) did. So it would not be impossible that Jews took to raising pigs for purely economic reasons.

But, again, that's just my understanding, and I can't even remember most of my sources for coming to that understanding.

269 I've often (not quite) jokingly said a good charitable foundation should send mercenaries and lots and lots of guns to Christian villages in Congo and other N. African countries and teach them to defend themselves from the warlords.

During WWII we sent all sorts of donated firearms to the UK and other places. Many of the donations were farmers shotguns and rifles. This was largely for the Home Guard effort, not so much for the battlefield.

After the war, instead of returning the weapons, they dumped them in the ocean. I'm sure this was the preferred solution by politicians on both sides of the ocean.

I'm wondering how much of a sh*t fit the BATF would have if we did the same thing for anti-ISIS efforts.

I'm just more puzzled as to why it wouldn't be a location off the parkway, which is the spine of the state. You can get anywhere fast enough off the parkway, and people from the south might be a tad more inclined to show up. Once you bring the turnpike and the turnpike extension into it it adds several levels of hell to the trip.

330 How they are trying to police what he says. Punishing him for free expression.

ESPN is the crown jewel in the Disney crown these days, and a huge money maker for Disney Co. Note... Disney.

Olberdouche knew what he was signing-on to, so perhaps he should actually check some links before getting into a twitter fight with some Penn State co-eds who are fundraising for some charity (forget which one).

331 Called Penn State students stupid on twitter.

Given that Sandusky was running free at Penn State for so long, I'd say it's a fair cop.

OK. Thanks. Maybe this is unprincipled of me, but I can't get too worked up about Queef Olberdouche getting his nose smacked.

He probably should have read the section of the contract about "don't be a douche on social media."

In fairness, you're armed like Crusaders visiting Constantinople.

Would it be terribly wrong for me to root for casualties?

Because a Hoboken Moron Meet-up allows those NYC/Brooklyn Morons to just jump the Path and walk a block to the Restaurant.

And thanks to President SandTrap who spoke of the Crusades, IS now has another reason to kidnap, rape, torture, murder all in the name of the 'Crusades'.

I knew this abomination would be bad if elected President, I just had no idea how bad.

Re The Olbermann caper. Absent a specific clause in the employment contract re social media and being a corporate face, I agree with ace that corporations (public or private) shouldn't be policing what people do on their free time and disciplining them for that. If there is such a clause in the employment contract, then employee X is and should be SOL because of breach of contract.

Of course, then there's a legal battle as to enforceability of that clause. Having not worked at all in employment law, I'd leave that to the Legal Horde.

The real horror of it is that these stories don't do much to shock anymore. They've become normal and expected.

Ace's twitter tear is about ESPN suspending Olberman for something he tweeted in a non-official capacity.

I was all down with Ace's reasoning until I scrolled back far enough to see that Olberman insulted Penn State students. Screw that.

Some guess (or hope?) that IS has kidnapped the civilians to force a prisoner swap, and get back some of their captured fighters.

If by "swap", you mean chopping the captured IS fighters into little pieces and mailing them back, then I'm all for it.

Also acceptable: dropping them out of aircraft at 10,000 feet without parachutes.

Wut?

It makes me sad to realize how much good music I missed because some asshole said 'Metal' was a bunch of headbangers playing the same chord over and over at high volume. The Saxon video was excellent, ripped it into my library, just like some of the previous selections you posted on that I managed to see.

It kinda made me want to get a claymore and mail but then I realized 'knife to a gunfight' and decided an A-10 would be better. That's some serious gunmetal blues to have playing while you chew through a column of death cult barbarians.

Wait...someone actually listens to what any of the ESPN talking heads have to say?

If you haver $5 and their collective opinions, you can buy a very nice coffee at Starbucks. If all you have is their opinions, well, you can buy squat. Or bumpkis.

I learned to tune them out over the last several years as I realized that they're not any better informed about their subject matter than the typical MFM talking head on the Sunday morning shows.
