Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Scientists: "There Was Almost a Rush to Assure the Public That We Knew A Lot More Than We Did" About Ebola; Experts Now Concede Ebola May Be Transmitted by Purely Airborne RouteIncidentally, the Washington Post, which is itself an Expert at Writing to whom you should bow and scrape, reported his words as "there was a rush to ensure the public," which is not what he said, because it's stupid. And if he did say it, you throw a "(sic)" after it to indicate the error is in the quoted material, not in your own writing. But anyway, Yay Experts. I love being falsely "ensured" by them as if I were a child in constant need of Daddy's Comforting Hand.A team of prominent researchers suggested Thursday that limited airborne transmission of the Ebola virus is "very likely," a hypothesis that could reignite the debate that started last fall after one of the scientists offered the same opinion. "It is very likely that at least some degree of Ebola virus transmission currently occurs via infectious aerosols generated from the gastrointestinal tract, the respiratory tract, or medical procedures, although this has been difficult to definitively demonstrate or rule out, since those exposed to infectious aerosols also are most likely to be in close proximity to, and in direct contact with, an infected case," the scientists wrote. Their peer-reviewed study was published in mBio, a journal of the American Society of Microbiology. The study's lead author, Michael T. Osterholm, an epidemiologist at the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, touched off a small furor and was condemned by some experts last Sept. 11 when he raised the same possibility in an op-ed piece in the New York Times as concern over the spread of the deadly disease was increasing rapidly.... "There was almost a rush to ensure the public that we knew a lot more than we did," Osterholm said in an interview Wednesday night, repeating a theme he has raised many times before. "But we're saying you can't rule out respiratory transmission."Yeah. Almost a rush. I assume he is speaking here of a proper airborne transmission, and not the layman's "airborne" transmission; either way, the experts who so ensuredly ensured us that there was no way to get ebola from the air were wrong. Not just wrong. Arrogantly and loudly wrong. See, the media is not particularly bright but they are Bossy and they like pretending they Love Science. So when they see an opportunity to Pretend to Be Scientists and Yell At Their Dumb Readers, they seize upon it, even if they don't have any idea about what the fuck they are talking. (Note preposition smartly undangled, all expert-like.) The media were always wrong on this, and the CDC was always deliberately deceptive. This new information about an actual airborne route of transmission is new (ish), but even before, the CDC was falsely suggesting that "no airborne transmission" meant that you could not catch ebola except by direct contact with an infected person or his fluids, like his blood and stool. They sort of forgot that his "spit" and vapor in his breath counted as "liquids," so you could in fact catch ebola by what the layman would call an airborne route. (Scientists do not call this path of transmission "airborne" transmission, but rather "spray" transmission or "droplet transmission.") The CDC deliberately lied to people, and the demented little Apple Polishers of the media rushed to scream at the rest of the class that you could not possibly get ebola by anything other than direct contact. And they were either lying or ignorant, and on this one, I'm pretty sure it's "ignorant," because seriously, they're not very smart at all and barely show any interest in doing their jobs. And now it turns out that even that false "ensurance" was... well, even more false, I guess. Lies In the Public Good: Vox's prolific idiot Max Fischer confessed today that he just basically always lies about Islam, in order to #StopH8. Oh and I don't mean that in one of those blogger-lies-about-someone-admitting-to-lying sort of ways. I mean he admits it.

I will help whoever is near me, just don't be throwing up or leaking blood out of an orifice as you are on your own. Oh, and I am fully prepared to take seat cushions for floatation devices if you are too hysterical to use yours. And my life vest will be fully inflated before i hit the raft, I don't care which tag to pull, it will be pulled. "Yet when all of this was pointed out to the 'experts' we were the crazypants people."
Likewise Obama's foreign policy, Obamanomics, Obamacare, et cetera. If we didn't realize how well these things were actually working, despite these things _by every appearance not working at all_, it was because we were ignorant and backward, bitter clingers, toothless illiterate redneck losers. The lavishly credentialed academic "experts", quoted at length by their friends in the media, have been wrong straight down the line with all this stuff. Time and again. At bottom, it's tribal. Solidarity within the in-group. Obama is one of them. A resident of the faculty lounge. An Ivy alumnus. He invokes all their key tribal signifiers and in-jokes and dog-whistles. They thus can't help but endorse what he's proposing even when it's self-evidently bullshit. I am again put in mind of Mike Rowe's recent comments about credentialism versus competence. I had a high horse once. He just sat there and looked good and refused to do anything. He was seriously high, and not in the wacky tobaccy. My Daddy used to "find" horses from another local rancher who actually knew horses. Imagine Green Acres and that was Daddy. I cannot remember this one's name but I looked regal going no where.
I had another horse named Tony. Tough mouth. Liked his feed and would round the acre path and gallop to his trough. Every time. My Yankee husband had one pet: one of those green turtles that have salmonella. That is all his parents allowed. We had many cats (three great cats), several good dogs, a goat, an evil rooster, a few hens foxes got and left evil rooster to chase us, horses, a Shetland pony, cows and a parakeet named Ricky Ricardo (who pecked me. I am not a big fan of birds due to childhood traumas). So, I know high horses. I may be on one soon if things don't go my way. Its flat out fear of being racist, or promoting what they consider racism. They think that noting the truth will cause crazed stupid knuckle dragging sister-marrying idiots to cry havoc and unleash the dogs of war, lynching arabs from every lamppost and burning crosses all across America. That's the contempt and hatred they hold everyone not from Manhattan in. People, especially half-educated white trash from Jesusland red-state hellholes who cook meth in trailers and fuck their sisters, cannot be trusted to do the right thing without influence. Panic and wrongness may result.

Drive to drug house in Ariz, New Mexico, California and Texas with one or two sent up to DC or New York and Boom. Bet there aren't any radiation detectors on the Southern border to speak of. E. boli (Pronounced "EE-Bowl-Eye.) Why? Because, in his stupidity, he thinks its related to E. coli infections, which he refers to simply as "getting E. coli." Apparently, in his sciencey science brain, there are an entire family of related diseases: E. boli E. coli E. doli E. foli E. goli ...etc. Oh, did I mention he is a flaming liberal who Loves Science Sexually? "'Cause frankly, I think this administration is A-OK with the mud-hams getting their nukegasm on, in an American city. I've not seen a damn thing to show me otherwise."
Why would any jihadi do that before Obama leaves office? It would ruin the kid-gloves treatment which international jihadis are receiving from Obama's administration. It's AFTER Obama leaves that the danger factor spikes. It's highly unlikely that even a Democratic successor will be as radical as Obama has been in terms of kowtowing to militant Islam. So the incentive to refrain from attacks is diminished. And, the new incoming President will have to deal with a national security apparatus which has been gelded and lobotomized by eight years of Obama personnel policy and operations policy. (And it's not as though that apparatus was in good shape when Obama originally got hold of it, either.) Posted by: torquewrench at February 19, 2015 06:20 PM (noWW6) 215

Its because a constant State of Fear, is useful when trying to limit Liberty... Thus, the people being fearful is in the interest of those who run the Government... ergo, they must not actually be able to SOLVE the problem which brings on said fear.... Like.... CO2 caused Global Warming... which can NEVER be solved... because CO2 is not the cause.... thus it can be used as an excuse for more and more control. Need to check the numbers to see what happens to cheaply chromed aluminium rims when bombarded with neutrons. Let's see, hrm, looks like most everything above normal Al27 decays to Silicon (with a half life in the minutes to nano-seconds range), so just making the rims slightly harder to melt & recast. Chrome looks like all the heavy isotopes decay to Manganese, so again, probably won't hurt the rims at the rates we'll be seeing. Conclusion: ain't nobody gonna care, yo. So they lied ... but it does seem they were mostly right about Ebola (almost never, or seldom) not being transmitted till symptoms are showing ... the Dallas guy was sick, even vomiting while in the house with those folks, and the nurses were out and about ... and nobody got it from them. Only the nurses that were around the Dallas guy when he was super infectious contracted it.
