A very good friend of mine has a daughter who has suddenly come into some very serious health problems. I'll quote the mother herself:
"On [January 12th. 2015], she was diagnosed with mesenteric adenitis. A condition where her lymph nodes are swollen in the intestine area. Three days later a new symptom came up, severe vertigo, where the room would never stop spinning and kept falling down. At that point she was hospitalized at Balboa Naval Medical Center. During that visit she was given a walker to help keep her steady and prevent her from falling.
One week later she went to her pediatrician's [sic] for her follow up to discover that her glocose [sic] was pretty high! She was sent back to the hospital for observation. She was sent home the next day and was told to follow up with an endocrinologist.
A week later she was severely constipated. She did a week long of Miralax and clear diet. Not much has come of that but at the end of the week two new symptoms came along. Her right leg was wobbling while walking or standing and she can't control it. Part of her face was numb. The next day the numbness wore off but her leg was still the same. However, upon an accidental impact on her spine while on a swing, her right side of her body was going numb. Most of right side was completely numb, she had some sensation on her right side of her face, but by monday, completely gone.
At this time, she has been diagnosed with Conversion Disorder. Me and her entire family are not 100% convinced. We are seeking second [a] opinion."
I haven't mentioned it, and won't mention it for fear of making a panic, is my theory that this could be related to the Enterovirus that has been going around (since all of our "friends" at the southern border started showing up). To my knowledge, Lilliana does attend public school.

Consider the behavior of these Silicon Valley CEOs.
(a) Their firms are engaging in incredibly elaborate accounting gymnastics to shield their overseas revenue from the U.S. tax man.
(b) They personally are benefiting from incredibly generous personal tax treatment, and other forms of treatment. Such as below market rate jet fuel for their personal aircraft parked at Moffett Federal Airfield.
(c) This wouldn't be popular if it were generally realized to be going on by ordinary voters and customers.
(d) Ordinary voters and customers think that people who make hundreds of millions of dollars per year SHOULD PAY TAXES ON IT at a reasonable rate. And certainly shouldn't be getting discount jet fuel, et al. at public expense.
(e) Therefore, these rich Valley bigwigs give money to the likes of Obama and Pelosi. Limousine-liberal politicians who talk about taxing the hated "1%" down to the shirt buttons, but who never actually raise taxes on the rich. Or who, if they do raise taxes on the rich, leave in carefully designed shelters and loopholes.
It's really as simple as that.

There's a syndrome often described as Acute Flaccid Paralysis, and it has boomed in the USA precisely since the amigos from nasty parts of Central America started swarming into the country, and some physicians and scientists are explicitly linking it to enterovirus 68, which has similarly boomed since the amigos arrived.
The money quote came from a doc at Stanford who said something to the effect that he thinks this stuff sure looks a whole lot like good old polio, but whenever he has said such things openly, the entire official public health apparatus began to lose their shit.

I'm not sure why it died. My understanding is that it never got picked by some (a lot?) of the cable carriers. So the revenue never came in.
If Beck can't get BlazeTV on Comcast/TimeWarner/DirecTV in the next few years -- I won't be surprised if something similar happens. TV is expensive to produce. You need those monthly cable revenues.

We are going to have temps in minus numbers, not counting windchill.
A friend & her husband drive to Corpus Christie, Texas every year before Thanksgiving & stay until late March/early April.
She's told me San Antonio, wasn't on list, has snakes all over. I'm going to have to buy small pistil I can use.
I made Cthulhu's recipe for roasted Roma tomatoes a week,ago,Sunday & spilled half on floor & in oven. I had 1.5 lbs raw tomatoes & couldn't take it out of oven.
I tried to make again tonight & a fire started in oven where tomatoes fell & I can't get to.
I used my,brother's oven. I had to carry pan up here with both hands in oven mitts holding like it was baby.
I've stuck left hand under very cold water & put hand brace on it.

Honestly, quite a few 'rons and/or 'ettes could help you set up a site for your business and help step you through maintenance.
Not familiar with some of the software mentioned here (mostly Wordpress and straight out HTML with me), even if you go with a "do it yourself package" you can still get helpful hints out of us (between the pointy elbows comments).

I admire Beck's attempt to build a whole network, it was a bold move. I'm skeptical it will work in the long run, but I wish him well.
He built theblaze.com into an impressive site. Does great traffic. But websites still don't generate much money. Ad revenue just isn't that high.

As with anything 'tech,' there's Easy to Use and there is Usefull. They rarely are the same.
Joomla for example requires some learnin'. Wordpress, not necessarily a commercial oriented backend software, is fairly easy to use and has a lot of online forums/help info.
And it depends on what exactly you want to do with the site. Are you looking for just a name, address, contact info site or are you looking to sell online?
Not knowing what your looking for, I would suggest getting a host, install Wordpress, research other Wordpress websites to see how others have done it, and, if you're looking to sell online, just use ebay for the commerce. IE. just have links to your ebay site for the actual selling.

Our local cable company wouldn't have SUN as part of their basic package and you had to buy an extra bundle to get the network. I didn't follow it but apparently the government agency that could have required it to be part of basic cable denied the request. Lousy government mf'ers.
Outside of the military, Canada is a third rate socialist shit hole just like the rest. I can't wait until Ontario and Quebec start to burn. And Ontario is about $300 Billion in debt with a population of 11 million, skyrocketing energy costs and 1 million public servants. Good luck with that.

By hand, although I have a machine. I'm mostly a spinner who has to do *something* with all the yarn I make but don't have time to use all of it myself while constantly spinning more. Even my kids can't use it up as fast as I make it. Thus getting complete strangers to hand me cash for something I was going to do any way seems rather ideal.

There are many good hosting solutions (GoDaddy, Tierpoint, etc.), but if you have never had a website before the primary challenge will be in getting your content online in a useful format.
So the question becomes...do you just want to display basic business information, or are you trying to enable e-commerce, or do you have unusual site requirements (such as being a photographic studio with lots of pictures to display in galleries, etc.).
In an attempt to differentiate themselves, hosting companies are offering different website formatting/creation solutions. There are also compmanies that sell formatting solutions independently. Most don't involve any upfront costs, but a higher monthly fee (still within reason, however) on the back end.
Although there are WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editors that allow you to upload content yourself, if you don't know what you are doing these will lead to very clunky pages with lots of redundant code over time. And your formatting options will be much more limited.
So you probably won't be able to do this yourself, for free, and will instead have to hire someone to help you manage this process. Good news is that they aren't as expensive as they used to be, especially if you use an offshore source. Personally, I have had more luck with the Indians vs. the Chinese in this area, but YMMV. You can also try Craigslist, but that's a much more hit-and-miss proposition.

Meh. I'm not a fan of Carson for Prez, but his 2A stance doesn't bother me, and I'm a 2A absolutist.
Guy was raised in the hood, where the only people with guns were the bad guys, so he never had the "good gun experience" it takes to make a gun lover.
Then, he went to Hopkins, which is in an absolute shit neighborhood, where he got to see up close the damage that bad guys with guns do every day. But he never got to see the old lady that scared off a home intruder with her .38.
Again, I'm not voting for him in the primary, but it's important to remember that his experience with guns was very different than most of ours. Not an excuse, just an explanation.

I just went through the same thing myself -- the hotel room from hell contaminated all the luggage I stashed in it and I had to vacuum the luggage, my car, and the living room where we unloaded -- plus wash all the laundry.

But... during my follow up today, I told her about my having to urinate usually between 2-5 times every night. That concerned her, so I ended up getting the prostate squeeze I was worried about a few months back. Good news however: apparently she's good at 'em as there was no pain whatsoever, just discomfort, and it was literally over in 3 seconds. She's also going to prescribe FloMax for me.
So, there's my daily TMI. Now let's hear yours! ;-)

Cause artists and designers tend to be liberal.
For young people looking to make a difference - learn design, learn audio/video editing and production skills. Conservatives tend to be more engineering sites.
Still, FoxNews has good production values.
TruthRevolt makes some good short vids with good production values
Steven Crowder puts out some good stuff.
Beck is quite artistic.
But, yeah, conservative sites tend to lag behind prog sites in design and aesthetics.
It's funny how hard it is to find who runs sites sometimes. Who is running youngcons or ijreview? I don't know.

1. It's only as noisy as the mill if you put a drop of oil/cutting fluid in every so often.
2. I've got three kits to install -- mill belt drive; mill air shock; and lathe cam tailstock. On the LMS website, it says they should take about 15 minutes, an hour, and an hour to put on. I've been amusing the fiancee by telling her about them over and over.....with the time estimates getting longer each time. We're up to 2 hours, 6 hours, and 6 hours now....

Sorry guys I didn't update you I've had the grandkids and haven't been
on here. Bone scan showed two new lesions so I have to have a pet scan
the 20th. Doc says back to the IV chemo, yep been there done that got
the t-shirt. He will discuss more with me after the pet scan. He says he
has five different drugs to choose from. So here we go again. I told
Gingy I'm too stubborn to give up. As a nurse I've seen people do that
and die very quickly. I'm almost 4 years into this. If it takes another 4
who am I to complain. Any day above the ground is worth it . The Horde,
Ace and this place makes it a pleasure to be alive. Keep on with the
witty comments and I'll hang around.

Reason I mention this is that about 12 years ago, for my 40th birthday, I decided I needed to change doctors and change my health....and was promptly diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (which is highly correlated with wearing dress shirts with a >16" neck). And one of the weirdest side effects of treating the apnea is that I stopped having to get up to pee 2-5 times a night.

I powered through the entire trade show -- which was huge -- in a single day -- 9:30-4:38. It didn't have a lot of what I'd hoped to see....and, evidently, the show was an outgrowth of what was originally a medical devices show -- so there was far too much about catheters. All-in-all, though, I got a lot of good info and links and brainstorming notions.
The fiancee and I did a 4-day Disneyland trip immediately prior to the show (you get discounted admission with show attendance), and that was fun -- plus Gushka, Bebe, and Grim came down to play on Sunday.

Yes, but treatment for apnea isn't pharma. You put on a pressurized mask to sleep and it keeps your airway from collapsing by inflating it. That's why it was so peculiar when it stopped me from having "aging kidneys".

got the prostate of a twenty year old and we both laugh. But I had a
friend at work who had the same insurance that I did. I got the test
every year after I turned fifty. He didn't. A year before I retired he
told me that he had prostate cancer and by the time they caught it, the
cancer had spread to his bones. He was still alive a year later when I
retired, but he was into heavy chemo and radiation therapy. He was going
to retire two months after me, but now he keeps working to keep his
health insurance to pay for all this. I'm pretty pissed at him for not
doing his due diligence. He could have caught it much earlier.

I've found that dress shirt sizes don't always square for me. I have gorilla arms so to get the sleeves I need the neck size is often too big. I really have to play around and try different ones and compromise to find ones that do both.

A senior police official said that police foiled a plot by two suspects who were planning on going to a mall and killing as many people as they could before committing suicide on Valentine's Day in Halifax.

Nice to see you, Fourth Horseman! Just popping back in to mention that I've heard that fasting before a chemo treatment preserves healthy cells and makes the cancer cells more vulnerable to the drugs. Also, there's less nausea and the patient can resume normal eating sooner.
Also, my mom's cancer has been diminished apparently due to an ultra-low carb diet. Some cancers require glucose to survive and you can starve them.

I was informed a couple of weeks ago that I have another grand-baby on the way. That isn't really a small wonder IMHO, it's one of the things that make life worth living.
For those of you who don't have grand-babies, you will wonder when you finally get one why you didn't have them first.
Of course for those of you who have daughters, you do have to tolerate sons-in-laws. Which means you can't kill ALL the boys of a certain age.

You really do have to find the beer that suits you. I didn't really care much for beer until I had my first Demon Hop Yard IPA. I've been looking for one that matches that experience ever since, the Drifter IPA from Widmer Bro's comes close but even that is hard to find in my area lately. Not a big fan of the dark beers, YMMV, which is why you really have to check out a variety and find the one that suits you.

Try any of Stone's IPA's (out of San Diego). And if you want to get used to the serious porters and stouts, you could do worse than to serve some over ice cream -- by giving the bitter something to play against, you can gain a better appreciation of what they're trying to do.

Beer and scotch go great together. Drink a glass or two of scotch, then switch to beer.
Try the Doublewood, if you like it I'll throw some more recommendations out. If you like a really strong flavor with your beer (stouts, IPAs) an Islay might be good.
Very strong peat flavor, but I tend to like it. They also run a little cheaper than the Highland scotches.

The Demons Hop Yard is a local beer in the NE, I found it when I was at school in Massatoochits. As far as I know it isn't bottled for distribution elsewhere.

corrosion. Others, corroded but workable. Interiors would all have to be

About 20 years ago, there was this boom of "BOP" shops -- short for "Brew on Premises" -- which allowed you to use the shop's facilities to make a custom batch of beer. Usually you started with some recipe the shop had and started tweaking 'em. I did that for a number of years, gradually increasing the hoppiness and leaning more toward the Cascade line of hops late in the brew....until, like any boom, it busted.
Imagine how amused I was to find that the flavors I was getting back then reappeared 10 years later as "West Coast IPAs".

One thing to remember is that choosing a person for a relationship can be complicated. Before she threw her towel at me, that woman knew that she could get very drunk, we could dance, and if she fell asleep.....she'd wake to find me guarding over her. You'll both need to see each other in a variety of contexts, in a variety of interactions -- one famous way to crash-land is for a guy to be rude to a waiter when he takes his date out for dinner. You'll need to show that you're reliable, trustworthy, funny, pleasant to be around, knowledgeable, humble, caring, and thoughtful -- and that you're stylin' in a kilt. Then, maybe, you'll get a wet towel to the side of the head.

I hate how loud music and special effects have displaced plot. Even in documentaries, there is so much noise and camera effects. Everything is zoom zoom, pan, blur, weird drums and sound effects. WTF?

So, my first job in accounting, I ended up as a staff accountant for a small CPA firm in Encino. Our firm shared a reception area with another firm, and the other firm had a staff accountant we'll call M. Now M had worked for this other accountant some years back and had taken a little personal detour involving motorcycle gangs, currency counterfeiting, high-flying LA partying, and other suchlike (which I only put together after the fact)....and when she went back to the accountant to get a reference to help her reintegrate to society, he'd scooped her up.
One of the odd things that fell out of this was that she had personal clients of her own. One, in particular, was odd in that the client would forward various business documents wrapped up in 20-30 rubber bands.
At first, we started having lunch together, but as time went on, it turned into seeing each other quite a bit. Until one evening, we're blasting around in her black Trans-Am and she suggests we visit that client. Turns out, it was a gay bar with a TS/TV cabaret in the back. The Maitre d' whisks us up to the very best table and offers us drinks, and away we go.....
It was actually a very nice show, great deal of variety, quite a bit of talent exhibited, and I was with this entrancing girl.....so I was laughing and smiling and having a great time. At the end, M says that she needs to go powder her nose, so I patiently wait.
A couple of minutes later, she comes back, and she's flustered with a greenish tinge, and she says, "let's go." I'm startled, and start to stammer out, "are you ok?" and she cuts me off with "Let's. Go." So, off we went to the black Trans-Am at a hurried stagger, and we climb in and drive away. I was hoping that I'd done nothing to ruin the mood -- things seemed so joyful and carefree just moments before.
And we get a couple of miles down the freeway, and I ask, "what's wrong?" And that's when she says, through clenched teeth, "they were comparing vaginas in there." I blurted out, "What?!?", and she continued, "one said to another, 'that's a very pretty one' and the other one said, 'it should be, it cost me $8,000'".
You can well imagine the amount of self-control it required to keep from uncontrollable laughter at this point. Instead, I said, "I see" -- and wondered how the hell this evening was going to end up.

The funny part is that she'd continually try to shock me and I'd be, "whatever" -- and half the time she'd shock herself.
