Correct. Fred ran for the Dem nomination for Kansas governor in 1994 against the considerably more conservative candidate who won the Dem primary and then went on to win in the general election. She ended up being probably the most conservative governor Kansas had ever had until possibly Brownback.

Thanks. I think we need to think outside the box, as the hackneyed cliche goes. Bugger the MSM; we should go to alternative media exclusively, such as our own Youtube channel (or the like, if Google cuts up rough), with short clips that are funny and preferably scandalous. Mix some information in with satire and entertainment, so that the channel becomes the "go to" site for people every morning, regardless of political affiliation.
Grant no interviews to the MSM, and permit no MSM comrades to "moderate" debates. Instead, insist on having debates with tripartite moderators: a liberal, a loyal American, and some reasonably even-handed third party. Each moderator questions the candidate of the opposing party, and no one else's microphone is live while he answers.

More importantly, telling the press to prove Obama did better would only really work if the press had brought up Romney's schooling first. And it had no reason to do so. Any comparison between the educations of Romney and Obama was going to leave Obama looking worse - even without knowing what Obama's grades were. So it was quietly ignored.

The geographical limits rule is one of the ones that championship teams attempt to fudge all the damn time and that Little League comes down on with the Wrath of God when teams get caught. Hell, I got sucked into that debacle once because the star player for my old boss's son's team lived with his grandparents because his parents were useless meth heads and the other team filed a grievance that the kid was living there only to be eligible for that team. Which, to be fair, is something that happens every day in every high school sport in America.
But yeah we had to submit all kinds of proof, including the court records appointing the grandparents as guardians, to show that he really did live there permanently and that is wasn't solely for sports.
At least this wasn't like that one team from China a few years back were some of the players looked like they were 24.

And note that the B-52 is older then them. And that there are currently three large bombers in the USAF.
And that they still have/had KC-135s flying alonside KC-10s and now they're getting a third tanker.
The warthog is suited for a mission about which the USAF cares least. But it will NOT give up the stated mission, nor will there be a modification about the prohibition aginst the army having its own combat fixed wing aircraft.

Oh hey hilarity time. So. I used to work for a bunch of big Dems who were all boo Bush's war and bring our troops home and all that. There also happened to be a factory in the area that was offered some of the few remaining decent factory jobs. Said factory had a huge contract for making some kind of military equipment, helmets maybe. Anyway, so the troop pull back in Iraq gets announced and my bosses are all see that's wonderful.
Needless to say, that was shortly followed by massive layoffs at the plant because the contract ended. My bosses were all that is so terrible.
Could not make the cause and effect connection to save their lives.

The best use of the A-10 is ground attack. The USAF demanded that that official mission be under their control. A turf war, which they won. But they don't really give a shit about it. That's why they rotated most of the A-10s to the ANG and Reserves decades ago.Te active duty USAF types make star rank flying at Mach 2 and 50,000 up. Not 600 miles an hour, eating dust.
Now, they're pressed for funds, and guess what is the first to go? They thing that they care for the least.

The general belief is that the Air Force is led by what's referred to as the "fighter mafia". i.e. Fighter pilots run the Air Force, and fighter pilots are primarily interested in anything related to air to air combat. The A-10 has nothing whatsoever to do with air to air combat, and it's role can in theory be filled by multi-role fighter aircraft. So, according to the fighter mafia, the A-10 is a superfluous airplane, and keeping it up requires money that could be spent on fighters instead.

The qualifications specified an obscene amount of flight time (combat time preferred) and to be carrier qualified. Which no USAF birdman had. That's because the shuttle was a brick on re-entry.
USAF didn't get a guy in the #1 seat for several missions.

I'm in neither the Air Force, nor the Army, so this is like fifth-hand at best.
My understanding, however, is that the AF doesn't like doing the kind of ground-support/tank-busting mission for which the A10 is so optimal. They like bombing things and flying away. They like shooting missiles at things and flying away. They even (lest they think I'm calling them cowards) like mixing it up dog-fight style. Close support a la the A-10? Not so much.
They also have a viagra-by-IV-push hard-on for the F-35, which is way over budget. Since their budget is being cut, they're willing to let the A-10 go away.
It's also kind of "shut-down theater." They know that everyone else loves the A-10, and they're hoping to blackmail congress into giving them a bigger budget.

So I'm reading up on the F-35 at globalsecurity dot org.
The software for the F-35's primary gun, a 25-mm rapid-fire cannon, won't be ready to install until at least 2019 despite the fact that the jet is expected to be on the front line by the end of 2015.
I never imagined the A-10's gatling to be software-driven, but I could be mistaken. I thought you pointed the plane at bad things and they went splodey.
OTOH, I remember seeing video of the F-35 being able to do a hockey stop in the air and then fly the other way, which looks cool.

Yes, it does, but it's old, and aircraft don't last forever. So its CAS role will be replaced by the F-35. A lot of people seem to get up in arms about delivering precision strikes from 10,000 feet as somehow being less worthy than screaming along at 500 feet. CAS isn't about flying low, though, it's about getting ordnance on target precisely. You used to have to get down low to do that, but not any more. If you can do that from the safety of a higher altitude, it makes sense to do so. And the F-35 is designed to do that.

Here's the thing, Chiefs: When the navy mothballs a class of ships because their budget has been cut again and they just can't afford the maintenance, nobody calls them traitors. Even though their budget mavens do the same move the Air Force has, threatening, outlining the consequences, screaming bloody murder etc.
When the big ships go, everybody says "What a shame" and they never say "The Fleet never wanted that function anyway; it's not Romantic enough."
The F-35 VTOL variant is very important to the Navy, and to the Corps. If it worked, if it could be afforded, and so on. As principal purchaser of fighters, USAF has had development of the base version politically hung around its neck, and cannot get out of it. Cut the budget enough, and something has to give. As the cost of the VTOL and carrier versions gets worse, you will see more and more missions threatened in the Fleet. And Navy will have to send some sacrificial adjutant up the Hill to make the best case for abandoning that mission. I wonder if your tattoos will throb as vividly when that happens.
