Rev. Wright, 2008: Don't Get Up On Your High Horses About Islamic Terrorism, Christians. After All: The Crusades

And this was when Wright was still Obama's spiritual and intellectual father.

No need to discuss this in the media, I'm sure.

8

Since Wright the Jeremiad mentioned the Crusades ... and claims to be a Christian preacher ... did he also mention that Christianity reformed itself, i.e., decided that slavery per se is wrong, etc., and did so without external examples ... and many Christians spent much time, treasure and blood (The American Civil War) to end the slave trade world-wide, and to define slavery as an illegitimate human condition?

... whereas Islam has utterly failed to do so, and in fact still enslaves people and sells them in, among other places, Khartoum, Sudan ... and preaches that slavery is right.

60 >>>> I always wondered, why didn't they finish those animals off?<<<<

Because they got their asses handed to them for the most part. Even if initially successful the European states lacked the ability to support armies at a distance and eventually the mohamedans would get the upper hand and drive them out. By the time the Christendom developed the wealth and technology to support that kind of war they had discovered the New World. Focusing on the Americas and the new sea routes to the Orient after that allowed Europe to screw the muzzies without actually having to fight them by cutting them off from the revenue the old trade routes provided.

In short they didn't wipe out the muzz because they couldn't and then when they were able they didn't have to.

Found out today that my governor, who I normally love, just passed an executive order protecting the stupid Sage Grouse! Hexes, hexes on all of them.

I think it is an attempt to handle it locally so the feds don't feel the need to lay the smack down, thus shutting off our grouse lands from developement (every sage grouse habitat is pretty much sitting on energy resources; declare the sage grouse an endangered species, shut off all the shale in Utah, permanently. Is sneakily evil.) Still, I'm ticked. TICKED. Feels like a betrayal.

That's the truly pathetic part of this. The crusades were failures. There was some success at the beginning and Jerusalem was retaken but it was lost again. As were most of the successes. So they were overall a failure. And Muslims knew this. They viewed the crusades as victorious for them.

It's only recent history that the progressives have decided that due to white Europeans are bad that Muslims have the right to be mad about the crusades. And of course the Islamic thugs have no problem playing along in using it to get their angry cult followers ready to slaughter.

Posted by: Buzzion at February 11, 2015 06:41 PM (kKT2P)

99 Stop calling Islam a religion. It's not. Its a tool of top down political control, no different from the Communist party. Take a chapter of the Koran and substitute Mark for Allah and The General Secretary for Mouhmmad... it makes perfect sense. Internally any way.

The crusaders?

Many were second and third sons who didn't have primary claim to their father's lands and title and needed, literally, some way to distinguish themselves.

The Crusades actually eased a lot of social tension in Europe by providing an outlet for nobles that didn't fit into the structure of medieval society.

The Byzantines asked for money and military assistance. They didn't ask for giant disorganized armies led by people who hated them coming into their land and taking all their stuff.

The purpose of the First Crusade, according to what the Byzantines asked for, was to reconquer territory *for the Emperor*. The leaders of the Crusade swore to Emperor Alexius that they'd turn over any captured cities... Then when they did, they reneged.

From what I understand, it was a bit more complicated than that. There was some miscommunication, and as a result a Byzantine support force got turned around. The Crusaders felt as if they'd been left high and dry by the Byzantines, and the result was predictable.

182 NASA reports that the DSCOVR spacecraft is healthy and in a good orbit, heading towards its eventual destination at L1.

Elon Musk tweeted that the Falcon 9 first stage made a soft landing on the ocean surface less than 10 meters from the target point. That means that if the ocean had been calmer, the barge landing would have been successful. This was also a much tougher re-entry than they've tried previously, in terms of aerodynamic stress and heating of the stage.

Even though they didn't recover the stage this time, the data they collected is directly applicable to future landings of the Falcon Heavy core stage.

There were religious factors at play there, too-- remember the Great Schism (i.e., the official break between the Catholics and the Orthodox) had happened in 1053, and was still a BFD at that point, with factions on both sides viewing the other as apostates and/or heretics.

One of the primary leaders of the First Crusade was Bohemund of Taranto, whose father Robert had fought a very nasty (and almost successful) war against the Byzantine Emperor Alexius, who was still in charge at that point. Bohemund hated hated h-a-t-e-d Alexius, so I have trouble believing he ever meant to honor what he said in any case.

Posted by: alexthechick - Oh save us mighty SMOD at February 11, 2015 06:21 PM (IrByp).

No heroin, but-

I do have the perfect martini recipe-

The ingredients are the secret:

"The Botanist" gin
Dolin Dry Vermouth

"The Botanist" is a gin made with Islay Isle botanicals.

Dolin Dry Vermouth is a very light, dry, herbal vermouth- the perfect wingman in a martini.

If you like a "wet" martini use a 4 gin : 1 vermouth ratio.

If you like a "dry" martini use a 7-8 gin : 1 vermouth ratio.

Overall volume depends on you. Bigger is better.

Shake with ice. Strain into glass.

Your first sip will prove to you that this is indeed the Kwisatz Haderach....excuse me-

the Perfect Martini.

Each sip of this, The Perfect Martini-

tastes likes you were standing at the edge of a juniper forest and a field of herbs and flowers on crisp, cold, clear spring morning in the Isle of Islay.

Relax and enjoy.

Quds don't just proliferate arms. They also proliferate know-how.

In the middle stages of the Late Unpleasantness in Iraq (as distinct from the Current Unpleasantness in Iraq and the Coming Unpleasantness in Iraq), crews of US vehicles started to get a particular sort of nasty surprise.

Their vehicles began to be hit by explosively formed projectiles, ones that can punch through a pretty impressive depth of armor protection. More so than a mere high explosive mine can.

Those EFP projectiles were in some cases smuggled in, but often, and increasingly, turned out to have been fabricated locally in crude back-alley Iraqi machine shops. The Quds Force locals had come in with the tradecraft for making the things, and communicated it to the indigenous insurgents.

This. The West did not yet have the technological superiority they later developed. That is what made all the difference when Europeans were establishing colonies and expanding their empires in the 18th and 19th century. And that technological edge gave them a demographic one also, since their infant mortality rates dropped and people lived longer. The ironic thing is that once Western medicine and agricultural methods expanded to their colonies, the demographic picture began to flip making the end of Western imperialism inevitable. Now the colonies are outbreeding their former rulers.

---------------------

For the moment. Nearly all of those former colonies seem to still be heavily reliant on medical supplies from the former imperialists. When the inevitable happens, and that aid gets cut off for some reason, things will likely reverse.

Also, I've heard elsewhere that a lot of the birth numbers in many of the old colonial possessions are falsified, and the real numbers are actually much closer to the "perilously close to the replacement level" birth rates that we see in the West.

I'm collecting these in a file, thanks.

Alas, I've developed a real aversion to alcohol. Hope it's just a phase!

Someone needs to invent ice cubes made out of alcohol.

This man is a fcking genius.

262 I, for one, support replacing Stewart with Olbermann. The sooner the show is cancelled, the better.

263 It's rather nice to imagine Goeth in hell, being frequently reminded that he has a schwartze granddaughter.

Those guys didn't tend to discriminate when it came to sex partners. Rudolf Hoess at Auschwitz had a Jewish mistress/slave for a while, apparently. Then things got awkward, so he had her gassed.

264 Drinking gin tastes like fellating a balsam fir.

I've always compared it to drinking straight turpentine.

265 Olberman wouldn't be funny even if he did that show from his bath tub. The clown nose would be an improvement though.

Not "balsam fir" but I like putting in sprigs of basil or thyme into gin.

271 "That is ol' Pastor Wright talking about the evil US atom-bombing Japan on Dec. 7th... 1941."

After which, Franklin Delano Roosevelt spoke to the country in a nationally televised address. Just as he did when the stock market crashed in 1929.

Well, if you ever conquer your affliction

give "Monkey 47" gin a whirl-

It's a crazy German gin with 47 botanicals from the Black Forest.

Ridiculously expensive, ridiculously dense flava.

It lies somewhere at the intersection of Gin, chartreuse, Benedictine, Sloe gin, St Germaine liqueur but dry not sweet.

273 Joe Stalin's daughter defected to the US and lived in a small town in Wisconsin for many years. She died just a few years ago. She kept to herself and wanted to be forgotten by the outside world.

Being Goeth's granddaughter is awful enough. Being the daughter of one of history's biggest mass murderers - I can't imagine. Apparently Stalin doted on his daughter when she was small, but became estranged from him as she got older. Trying to reconcile "daddy who sat me on his knee" with "monster responsible for millions of deaths" - well, no wonder she kept to herself. Who else could possibly understand her situation?

278 Let me be the first to note that John Wick (2014), starring the wooden Keanu Reaves is as bad as one would expect. Completely pointless, it is saved only by the smooth taut buttocks of Russian whores on prominent display and the overload of the ole Ultraviolence what..
