Obama Lied About His Position on Gay Marriage, David Axelrod Reveals

From Time, revealing something Axelrod will reveal in his upcoming book.

"I'm just not very good at bullshitting," Obama told Axelrod, after an event where he stated his opposition to same-sex marriage, according to the book.
Axelrod writes that he knew Obama was in favor of same-sex marriages during the first presidential campaign, even Obama publicly said he only supported civil unions, not full marriages. Axelrod also admits to counseling Obama to conceal that position for political reasons. "Opposition to gay marriage was particularly strong in the black church, and as he ran for higher office, he grudgingly accepted the counsel of more pragmatic folks like me, and modified his position to support civil unions rather than marriage, which he would term a 'sacred union,'" Axelrod writes.

As a state senate candidate in 1996, Obama filled out a questionnaire saying "I favor legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages." But 12 years later as a candidate for president, Obama told Rick Warren's Saddleback Church that marriage could only extend to heterosexual couples. "I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman," Obama said at the time. "Now, for me as a Christian -- for me -- for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God's in the mix."

Asked about the revelation that the president of the United states has been again revealed to have lied to the American public fulsomely about a major point of public policy debate, Josh Earnest says he will not "quibble" with Axelrod's take -- that is, that yes, Obama lied, obviously.

As Obama lies about most things.

As he's lying today, as it turns out, as he pretends now that he did not intend a Bullworthian #TruthBomb on whether or not global warming is more dangerous than terrorism.

There's just one problem: He's both a coward and an inveterate liar. So everytime he drops a would-be #Truthbomb on us, the coward then sends out his minions to lie on his behalf and say he didn't mean what he obviously meant.

I mean, i guess we should take him at his word. I mean, he wouldn't lie, for example, about opposing gay marriage, then "evolving" on it, or about whether you could keep your doctor if you like your doctor.

Probably a coincidence. I can't imagine Stewart deciding to leave The Daily Show after only considering it for a few days (Brian Williams has only been in hot water for a few days).

On the other hand, I can't think of any good reason for Stewart to do so. The only thing that comes to mind - and it seems awfully unlikely - is that Stewart wants to signal that he's open to other opportunities (*cough*late night host*cough*), and doesn't think that they'll come his way so long as he's still on The Daily Show.

If gays are entitled to equality in marriage then the presumption of paternity in traditional marriage, something physically impossible in gay marriage, would be an inequality. The only way to 'correct' this inequality is to deny presumption of paternity... so on and so forth until all you are left with is two names on a piece of paper, maybe with some joint property ownership (if only there was some way to do that now...).

99 Let us recall something here: Obama went about ten thousand light years past the point of supposedly not supporting gay marriage.

In the 2008 primaries, when Obama was desperate to deliver a knockout punch to Hillary Clinton, he had to do it in South Carolina.

To win a Democratic primary in South Carolina, you need the energetic support of the black church. And the black church in South Carolina surely do hate them some fags.

So Obama held a big splashy campaign rally full of Palmetto State black churchgoers, and Obama put on stage at that rally one of those persons who claims to be "ex-gay".

A fellow who refers to homosexuality as a "disease". A disease that can be "cured" with "reparative therapy" to restore queers to their original God-given heterosexual normality, with all disgusting sodomite inclinations safely purged by prayer.

I want you to think for a second here about what would have been the absolute exploding galactic core level of hysterical butthurt from the identity-politics left if a Republican political figure had held such a rally and invited such a controversial figure.

Yet the level of control which the Democrat-Media Complex exerts is so fine-grained that it is next to impossible to find any liberal Democrats anywhere in the country who are aware that this amazing event ever existed.

For fun, I like to describe the rally and the "ex-gay" speaker to progressives and subtly lead them to believe that it had been Sarah Palin who put this horrifically anti-gay figure up on stage at a campaign event.

You can imagine the vitriol which instantly begins to drip from their fangs. And you can further imagine the wildly rolling eyeballs and exploding heads when I inform them that it was in fact not Palin, but their religious cult idol Chicago Jesus.

I quit when one night I watched him fawning over Howard Dean as if he was some great statesman and laughing and joking with him, and then another night, after Powell had left the State Department, he was on Stewart and Stewart was treating it as a hard hitting news interview trying to get Powell to say anything negative about Bush that he could.

After those two sequences I don't think I've ever watched it again.

I actually believed Obama was not in favor of gay marriage when he first ascended the throne.

Why? Because I couldn't imagine any reason that a young black liberal/communist would come out and say he was against gay marriage unless he really felt that way.
It was against all we know liberals to stand for. But....it was something that somebody who spent a decade in a fire and brimstone, we hate whiteys and America black church would have been exposed to and indoctrinated in.
So, I bought into the premise that Obama was actually against gay marriage because most black religious types, regardless of the actual message at the church, are not in favor of gay marriage. And if you could sit and listen to Rev. Wright, have your kid's baptized, etc. by him, certainly you had some faith in what he said.

He lies so much that it is now impossible to tell when he is lying.
