Ouch.

Survey: 80% of people have an antiquated and simplistic understanding of the complexities of human memory.

Brian Williams may have a hard time retaining his popularity with viewers considering the results of a survey commissioned by Variety regarding the news anchor’s false claims to have been on a helicopter shot down by enemy fire in Iraq.

An overwhelming 80% think that Williams should no longer continue as a news anchor for NBC, according to a survey conducted Thursday by celebrity brand expert Jeetendr Sehdev, who polled 1,000 people who either watched or read the anchor’s apology.

10 Brian Williams? Why do we care again?

JK.

But here is something everyone should care about. A special forces captain earned a Silver Star in Afghanistan, but was later quoted in Bing Wests excellent book on the war criticizing Army tactics and administration. The Department of the Army responded by withdrawing his Silver Star.

Bureaucrats sitting at a desk in the Pentagon threw a snit fit and withdrew an honorably earned medal because they didn't like what he had to say.

Tar. Feathers. Seemingly deserved.

21 Still wanna know who was in on the lie.

From what I've read, on that helicopter were Williams, a camerman, a producer, and a retired General (who has since died).

So there's 3 people who were part of producing the initial false story. Have the producer and camerman been interviewed?

Who else at NBC might have known?

A small team of 3 people could have produced the false story and kept that secret from the rest of NBC.

The helicopter he was riding in was shot down by an RPG

98 Carol. You wouldn't like Alamogordo. Nothing against the place; I've been there, played there, dined there and enjoyed my time there.

But, it's a sun-blasted, baked desert plain. A furnace in the summer, and the only thing stopping the frozen winds from the mountains in the winter, are a half dozen barbed wire fences, and two of those are down.

The museum for the Atomic tests and such are great there, as is the solar museum in conjunction with the observatory up in Cloudcroft.

But, you don't want to live on land that's hard as concrete, as you need a jackhammer to dig the holes for your roses.

Central Texas will be your home, I think. I'm thinking you should look at:

Copperas Cove
Burnet
Marble Falls
Blanco
Fredricksburg
Kerrville

Any of those will either have enough civilization, or be close enough to such, to offer good stores, medical, prime housing, etc. The last two will be more expensive, especially Kerrville. Highest density of retired military in Texas. Land values there are quite high. But, it's a great place to live.

Those towns are all within an hour's drive of either San Antonio or Austin. And, each and every one of them is absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous. Breathtaking.

Nicely wooded, beautiful hills, vistas, creeks and rivers.

And some of the best food on the face of the earth, and the finest (non Horde) people you'll ever meet.

I promise you this on my very soul. None of those towns would be a bad choice for you, and you'd be happy in any of them.

Sincerely,

Jim

I've got plenty. Come to CLT and I'll load you up. I even have some shit I will not take because it is too strong. Oxycontin.

100 I have watched the movie twice in the last few days and forced hubbymayhem to download that song to my mp3. I am completely obsessed with it right now. no idea why. Love Bowie's line about fair and this "Just love me, fear me, do as I ask and I will be your slave."

I have really bad knees. Doc told me 10 years ago that i had 5 years before needing both knees replaced. And the knees did the snap, crackle, pop every time i stood up.

I started taking a curcumin/collegen supplement and the knees quit hurting a d work fairly well. I cannot run or do anything that pounds on the knees but i can do all the elliptical "running" i want with no pain.

It might help you.

I can hear the JAWS theme in the background.

Can't you?

105 and yet... six months from now this will be forgotten and we'll still be hearing about how Scott Walker claimed to have a Master's Degree.

And NipSip, feel free to blame me, one Jew is as good (or as bad) as another. Gevalt already.

106 So, now that we know NBC itself was involved in promoting, knowingly, Lyin Brian's whoppers...

This changes things.
If NBC fires him, then Williams can turn around and sue them big time.

Because they were a part of the lie...and he can say that he was just 'doing his job of enhancing his on-air persona' that they, NBC, wanted to create.

107 MisHum,
Pain pills changed rules effective October 6 & can you guess who pushed it? None other than the JEF, signed law August 22 & effective 45 days later. CVS cancelled my refills!
I'm still pissed off at it.

108 That whole "integrity" thing is antiquated, Christianist, Imperialist, Western Hegemonic crap.

News doesn't have to be factual if it serves a higher purpose.

113 Donna & Vs,
Do you take calcium pills? I had to to take a prescription in 2000 & have taken it since. I had bone density test years ago & the doctor said I'm little, skinny & white & that's why she had me have one.
Calcium is a bitch to get used to, I kept taking one I had been taking but take it with Centrum & bought & got sick on several with Vitamin D before I found another that doesn't make me sick.

Posted by: Carol at February 06, 2015 10:11 PM (sj3Ax)

114 New Braunfels *was* nice. But, it's on I-35, and is steadily becoming just a squeezed-in-between-San Antonio-and-Austin-community.

What character it has, is being subsumed into the big city Borg. Same for San Marcos, just up the road.

Nip Sip, from what I have heard, knee replacements really are worth it -
in the long run. Unfortunately, they hurt a lot and take a long time
to heal.

Posted by: Donna V. (brandishing ampersands) at February 06, 2015 09:52 PM (+XMAD)

Knee replacements hurt but you are somewhat mobile again rather quickly (unless the surgeon botched the job or there is some other failure), but they absokcufinglutely require you play the rehab game every day for at least 3 months and more is better! I

116 Temple is nice. Small town, in between Waco & Austin, but has plenty of its own hospitals, if that's a thing. I'd love to move there, were it not for the g-kids and MIL.

Having to use Austin for big city stuff will depend on your tolerance for Blueness. My whole family lives there, so must visit, but damn, that city is annoying.
