If I'm not mistaken no, cell phones still "talk" to the cell network and GPS when powered down. Only total battery removal prevents that. Newer high end phones are now sealed.

121 119 I agree with you about Palin. In retrospect, she should have appointed herself to that senate seat ( if it was allowed) in Alaska, then resigned as governor. That way she would have gained experience while having a perch --and residence--in Washington from which to make statements, sponsor legislation and allow people and the press to just get used to her being in the game--as if to say, "I'm not going anywhere..."
Instead, she bailed and went for speaking engagement and reality TV money; I don't blame her; but at this point she's damaged and would probably do a good job of raising money--and getting out the vote. For the Democrats.
Who are still beside themselves with rage against her for having the audacity to burst on the national scene....
