Democrat Senator Bob Menendez: The Administration's Claims on Iran's Good Nuclear Behavior Sound Like "Talking Points Straight Out of Teheran"

Right, and there's a reason for that; he's a f*cking liar.

"I have to be honest with you, the more I hear from the administration and its quotes, the more it sounds like talking points that come straight out of Tehran. And it feeds to the Iranian narrative of victimization when they are the ones with original sin," Menendez said during a Congressional hearing.

Video at the link.

Archliberals Brian Williams and Richard Engel also take Obama to task for his brazenly dishonest claims about national security.

Williams began by asking about Obama's claims about the state of the world, which seem to be entirely fantasized:

"Richard, we woke up here in the States this morning – new ISIS video. Two Japanese hostages," Brian Williams began. "They’re asking for $200 million, or they're going to assassinate both of them. Video of a Russian intelligence ship cruising into the harbor in Havana; it might as well have been 1962. And then this on-again, off-again possible coup in Yemen, a U.S. ally."

...

Richard Engel delivered the coup de grace: "It sounds like the president was outlining a world that he wishes we were all living in, but which is very different than the world you just described with terror raids taking place across Europe, ISIS very much on the move."

Video at that link as well.

Obama is doing the same thing as a Soviet dictator claiming the sugar crop hit record levels when in fact it was a catastrophe. He is simply doing it with foreign policy -- an area in which American media have severely cut back on personnel, and so aren't as in strong a position to rebut him.

Although they're not inclined to rebut him -- if Obama pretends that Boko Haram is not wiping out towns and raping its way across Nigeria, the media is very willing to pretend along with him.

31 The real answer is the Obama believed the crap the left said about Bush.

That the reason terrorism and bad things exist in the world is because we had a stupid cowboy president who shot first and asked questions later. Oppressed peoples are just responding to US imperialism in a natural way -- one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter and all of that.

So Obamas foreign policy of "dont do stupid shit" was good enough for him -- everyone will love the US and him personally once that IDIOT bush was gone.

He literally thought that's all he had to do to fix every problem around the world, many of which have been problems for 1000 + years.

34 One-Dimensional Man was a book all about social control by lying rulers. Yes, Marcuse was a Marxist, but he was right on the button arguing that modern citizens are subjected to propaganda narratives all day long.

Obama is lying all the time. His adherents know he's lying. But they keep up the narrative on his behalf -- even his opponents are polite about disputing his narratives, and don't come right out and say "you lie!" -- and citizens think what he says must have some merit.

Until overly-earnest fools like the Senate GOP send out their Joni Ernst's of the world and give a plausible alternate narrative, the voters will continue to give credence to the BS they're hearing from the progressives. The problem is the GOP has no spine.

Engel "arch liberal"? Not saying he isn't, but direct interaction with him in one of the war zones did not indicate this. His Arabic language capability made him one of the more interesting reporters, certainly from the TV category, and he never showed the histrionic, jaw-dropping stupidity/anti-US bigotry/moral inversion demonstrated by so many others. And he was one of those who undertook risky activities for his job without hesitation. But then I have shielded myself from TV "news" ever since the world went completely stupid around 2005-2006, so have no other data points for Engel.

123 All the foolish rhetoric wouldn't be so damning if it was just that. But these decisions, words and action have made us all less safe.

And our families pay the price.

Democrats are obsessed with perceived or imagined victimization and a grievance based philosophy. It' not about the truth right in front of them, it's about things that have the "potential " to happen in their fantasy world no matter how ridiculous or illogical.

What kind of people protect that delusion at all price? Who obtain positions where they are suppose to serve us, and instead ignore us? Better yet, who are the assh**les consistently voting for this abuse? Is it the same idiots that see the price of gas go down and click up the presidents approval rating? Here's a "hint". He has nothing to do with it.

I'm a little sick of the "low information voter" nonsense. Let's call them what they are: dimwits and nincompoops. Because it's not about what you read or hear. It's about making logical decisions based on facts. If you don't have the time to actually do that- maybe you should find another place to live before its too late for the rest of us.

They are also very keen on talking about Christian violence (and their deluded fantasy that the media covers it up) right now. So much so that the ones I've encountered have been plastering Anders Brevik all over the place and claiming that Christian violence is more prevalent and widespread than the teeny tiny minority of violent Islamists. 149 In order to implement his domestic utopian agenda, he NEEDS what is happening in the world to happen. He cares very much because it is central to his goals.

This. It plays to his goals in two ways.

First, it makes people scared. Scared people will sacrifice liberty for security. This has been demonstrated.

Second, and perhaps more importantly, it makes people say "Well, at least we don't have it as bad off as X."

So when they hear that the price of avacados is going to skyrocket, they think "Well, first world problems," and not "If those f*ckers would just let California farmers water their f*cking fields, this wouldn't be a f*cking issue!"

When they realize their health insurance premiums are going up, they think, "Well, first world problems," instead of, "Those f*cking f*ckers! Leave my f*cking health care alone!"

It's the reverse of the class warfare that Democrats play. The obverse is what we always see: "Tax the rich!" "They got wealthy on the back of your labor!"

But the reverse is this: "Well, there are so many who have it worse than I do..."

In both cases, rather than being encouraged to do the best one can do- and to expect the best from those around them, we are encouraged to compare ourselves to each other. You have less than me? I win. You have more than me? Give it back, you thief.

And many times his SOTU speeches were more somber because of the ongoing wars. I may have just not noticed it.

Regardless - and not to be too critical on this point because there is so much more to be critical on with Obama - but I do find it unbecoming of the President to be signing autographs in the people's chamber. Of course, it is the congressmen who are really unbecoming of it. But hard to see a President Washington doing this.

200 Marcus T., exactly. This "low information" applies certainly to zillions of the idiots who voted for this idiot and his no-less idiotic Dem partners, but the critical element is the huge number of "educated" and what I term "high-disinformation" voters (urban, coastal, "liberal" and "moderate" types).

Ironically, the reverse is true when we're talking about Bambi and his band of cretins in the Beltway. Most here allege he is Muslim, and that he's trying to destroy the US, etc etc. Huh? People living with these assumptions really have no idea how (practically speaking) dumb and alien these people are.

These people really do believe that "smart diplomacy" is a non-humorous, serious concept.

These people really do believe that raising the minimum wage "helps" people.

These people really are stupid enough to believe that the US being smart and assertive under Bush caused problems, not that we have real enemies and that action is sometimes required (of course we've got a good sprinkling of such idiotic beliefs around here, sadly).

Most of you to your benefit did not spend years and years and years around these people, opposing and usually defeating them, marvelling at their incredibly stupid and naive misunderstanding of the world, their moral inversion (good guys are the bad guys), their disasters.

They REALLY are this stupid, folks. As are their fanbois in the "press" and the dumbed-down commentariat. Not that it makes a difference in the end, but folks should stop attributing cartoon-villain motivations to these cretins and just confront how clueless, ignorant, unworldly, yes delusional, they and their supporters (including your family, neighbors, and colleagues) are.

231 This is the Prog model for global crisis response, straight out of the UN handbook.

1. Tell you you are racist, neocolonialist, provincial or unsophisticated for even thinking there's a crisis. Inform you, you benighted lout, that there are more urgent matters that must immediately be dealt with instead (usually about which nothing can be done, like the weather).

2. Acknowledge that "the situation", whether natural disaster, genocide, human trafficking, whatever, is "a matter of increasing concern."

3. Leap into action, announcing that the "potential human tragedy" must be investigated thoroughly and send representatives to good hotels in the region, accompanied by many earnest young people with clipboards and tablets.

4. Do nothing as the crisis erupts into outright disaster. (subset: blame the US for over/underreacting):

5. Piously wish "if only someone had done something!" and then demand increased funding and power over that which wasn't employed the first time to make sure the tragedy never happens again on their watch the way it just did...

I'd say this is more from the original leftwing playbook.

In early modern Germany the middle class was growing and sought to move towards a free, libertarian state.

The German aristocracy was terrified...if they gave in they would be marginalized and it was tough to directly oppose the bourgeois as they weren't lawless radicals.

But the German's also had lawless radicals agitating for socialism. At a first glance these would seem to have been the greater threat. But the German aristocracy found they could buy off the lower class with hand outs taxed from the middle class.

This gave them a powerful ally and weakened their real enemies.

And so you saw Otto Von Bismark's Germany implement the first welfare state.

The left has largely repeated this strategy, because unfortunately it works.

263 These people really do believe that raising the minimum wage "helps" people.

----

If someone has been working at a minimum wage job for a while and cannot "live" on it, it is because they haven't made themselves valuable enough to the employer to get a raise. It's that simple.
I had a relative begin working at McDonalds as a teenager . She continued there due to life and family circumstances.
When she finally changed jobs after ten years, she was an assistant manager, on salary, and was supervising all those newbies who were working for "minimum wage".
At that point, she was earning enough to be the major financial support for the family, which included a house payment and car payment.
Minimum wage or starting wages were never supposed to be the final resting place for one's income. Everyone starts at a minimum wage job to get experience and get an employment record. Then you move on because of the incentive to earn more and improve your life.

As usual, the Dems are only interested in planting people in one station in life, and making them as dependent as possible on the Dems and govt. handouts, with no ability or incentive to move up. Hence, the drumbeat for "minimum wage".

Hahahahaha! Good one.

"Interviews with 420 adult Americans who watched the presidential speech conducted by telephone..."

Massive self-selection bias. Only a small percentage of the nation watched the speech. The only ones who did are the remaining pro-Obama partisans.

I'm surprised a poll like that didn't come back with 99% positive, the only negatives being AllahPundit, Erick Erickson and three other conservative monitors watching so the rest of us don't have to.

275 Think sugar beets were the primary domestic source of sugar in the USSR. Not sure what proportion was filled by Cuban sugar, but I never saw anything there except raw Cuban sugar.

And let us not forget the most hilarious aspect of the semi-annual failed Soviet wheat harvests. They failed because of "weather". Even when the weather was perfect (as became obvious pretty quickly, and was pointed out in non-classified CIA reports at the time).

So - something we got here, let's call it a theme - failed flailing power-mad authoritarians turn to the oldest of pagan causes ..... "weather!" to help them push their idiocies. General Sec. Brezhnev, meet Dr. Hansen.

-----------------------

I suspect that says more about who bothered to watch than how Americans in general think about the president. I know that if I'd been polled, I would have been forced to tell the pollsters to go get their info from someone else as I didn't bother to pay attention to it.

Also of note - that approval rate that you're crowing about is worse than both of Clinton's that are listed, worse than all but two of Bush's numbers, and is in the bottom half of Obama's numbers. So in short, as good as that number may look to you, it's actually pretty bad in comparison with other SotUs given over the last couple of decades.

Obama spent his early life around Muslims, and as Hillary Clinton's team pointed out, was listed as a Muslim in his school papers.

282 Fenelon, thanks for your response re Bambi being Muslim.

My point there is that his absurd and disastrous actions are 100% consistent with the clueless and morally inverted instincts and predilections of his ilk, and require not one iota of Islam-sympathy to explain them.

There isn't a suggestion that 99% of the cretins who support his disastrous foreign policy moves and instincts are Muslims - I'm talking the commentariat/think-tank, Beltway bureaucrat, and academic crowds. Yet they do. Because clueless.

Because they are all clueless. Nobody imagines the absurd characters Hillary or Warren are Muslims, yet their foreign policies would be indistinguishable. Because clueless. The moonbat ravings going back decades - which went from freakish margins of the spectrum to the West Wing overnight, in 2008 - produce exactly the same performance in foreign policy. No Muslim loyalties or sympathies required for explanation.

Same thing applies to the "Marxist" label, which has lost most of its meaning, now being used to any sort of vile authoritarian economically illiterate class-envy based idiocy. Obama has no more understanding of Marx or Marxism than he does of, well, anything as far as we can tell. Profits and earnings ratios, remember .....

287 These people really do believe that raising the minimum wage "helps" people.

_________

Because most people don't have a clue how the economy works.

The simplest reason why it doesn't help anyone is because higher min. wage leads to inflation which leads to higher prices. You increase the wage from $10/hr to $20/hr for example. YEAY!! It helps people. Great. Except that what used to cost $10 will soon cost $20.

You can't legislate prosperity on people. It has to be earned.

292 Have been reading Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt which tells the story of his childhood as an unbelievably poor childhood in Ireland during the Depression and WWII (goes well beyond that too).

As to the SCOAMF in Chief's State of the Union, a particular passage seemed very telling as to how far we've fallen.

McCourt's Mom is trying to convince him (at age 16) to take the test for "permanent" post office message boy, which will essentially guarantee lifetime employment at the P.O. and a guaranteed pension.

He brings this to the attention of his Uncle Pa: "Ah pension my arse. Sixteen years of age an talking about the pension. Is you coddin me you are? ...If you pass the exam you'll stay in the post office nice and secure the rest of your life...You'll be dead in your head before you're thirty and dried in your ballocks the year before. Make up your own bloody mind and to hell with the safeshots and the begrudgers.. Tis your life, make your own decisions and to hell with the begrudgers, Frankie. In the heel o' the hunt you'll be going to America anyway, won't you?.."

Today the SCOAMF and his electorate stand foresquare with the begrudgers and safeshots, and 50+% of millenials would probably be thrilled at the prospect of lifetime employment at the post office, and a guaranteed pension.

Does the "America" Uncle Pa would rather Frankie go to even exist anymore?
