Which was my point upthread. And those people touting how much sex there was during the Victorian and 50's eras don't realize that it really was a different era with different ideas toward sex. From my own point of view and the point of view of those I grew up with in the 50's and early 60's, sex was most definitely frowned upon before marriage.
There was no "in your face" immersion of sex in everything as one sees today. As I said, it was a different era with almost totally different attitudes.

16 is still legal in nearly half of all states.
Back then, the age of consent was lower, especially in the South. IIRC, they were as low at 14 or even 13. Of course, in colonial times it could get far lower.
This is another double-standard: Age of consent has been rising, but any girl who can get knocked-up (including pre-teens) have the capacity to get an abortion... but not to get pregnant in the first place.

I am currently driving a 2002 Corolla that has one hard-working guinea pig under the hood. I really miss the 2001 Accent 3-door with its burly V4.
