38 The Russian billionaire who owns the Brooklyn Nets has decided to sell the NBA team amid concerns about its financial losses and performance on court, according to reports. Mikhail Prokhorov, 49, has apparently retained investment adviser Evercore Partners to sell his share of the basketball franchise, which he bought for a staggering $223million in May 2010. The businessman, who is worth an estimated $11.1billion, currently holds 80 per cent of the Nets, as well as 45 per cent of the Barclays Center, the club's two-and-a-half-year-old arena in New York.

Allow yourself to move FORWARD! to a progressive and correct future, where humanity lives in peace and obedience under a chosen leadership of... illuminated persons. Persons like our historic first multiracial President, Barack Obama, who has cut ties to the failed policies of that horrible faux-cowboy Bush, and who has moved us closer to a world we have treated horribly with racism and colonialism. The whole world can be as one, and we here in Brattleboro understand that.

48 More than 50 patients have died after an NHS trust introduced a secret
policy to downgrade 999 calls and not to send ambulances to terminally
ill patients. Managers at East of England ambulance trust were accused
of "the most cruel form of rationing imaginable" after admitting that
8,000 patients had been affected by the changes.An internal NHS report
discloses that 57 patients died after their calls were downgraded
following a decision not to send ambulances to the terminally ill and to
those who had given instructions not to resuscitate.

So, yeah, they had to find another method for offing those annoying old people who don't have the courtesy to die off quickly.

34 scientists rejected the theory, 44 claimed natural factors were far more influential and the rest expressed no position.

'Consensus' indeed.

It is the sense of Congress that Congress is in agreement with the opinion of virtually the entire worldwide scientific community that --

(1) climate change is real;

(2) climate change is caused by human activities;

(3) climate change has already caused devastating problems in the United States and around the world;

"virtually the entire worldwide scientific community" if you ignore physicists, meteorologists, chemists, and other actual scientists.

Also, what "devastating problems" has "climate change" caused in the US? Seriously. Even *if* you attribute tornadoes and hurricanes to "climate change" they cause no "devastating problems."

There may be devastation (that is: mass destruction of property), but for an industrialized nation with resources on the scale of ours, that is not "devastating problems."

174 First Lady Michelle Obama named the new Executive Director of Let's Move on Thursday, Debra Eschmeyer, a self-described "food justice" activist who believes that all aspects of food production and consumption should be "shared fairly."

Eschmeyer, who grew up on a dairy farm in Ohio and is now an organic vegetable farmer, previously campaigned for "school lunch reform" and has been involved in anti-obesity and school gardening initiatives.

Eschmeyer was asked in an interview in May 2011 what her definition of "food justice" is.

"I was an editor of 'Food Justice' (the new book by Robert Gottlieb and Anupama Joshi) so I spent several years thinking about the definition," she said. "Food justice seeks to ensure that the benefits and risks of where, what, and how food is grown, produced, transported, distributed, accessed, and eaten are shared fairly."

"It represents a transformation of the current food system, including but not limited to eliminating disparities and inequities," Eschmeyer added.

198 In 1988, the surgeon general, C. Everett Koop [now deceased], proclaimed ice cream to a be public-health menace right up there with cigarettes. Alluding to his office's famous 1964 report on the perils of smoking, Dr. Koop announced that the American diet was a problem of "comparable" magnitude, chiefly because of the high-fat foods that were causing coronary heart disease and other deadly ailments.

He introduced his report with these words: "The depth of the science base underlying its findings is even more impressive than that for tobacco and health in 1964."

That was a ludicrous statement, as Gary Taubes demonstrates in his new book meticulously debunking diet myths, "Good Calories, Bad Calories" (Knopf, 2007). The notion that fatty foods shorten your life began as a hypothesis based on dubious assumptions and data; when scientists tried to confirm it they failed repeatedly. The evidence against Häagen-Dazs was nothing like the evidence against Marlboros.

205 ...

In closing Mr. Holder I will leave you with this thought; you were given a rare opportunity to lead with integrity during a variety of divisive and controversial issues during your tenure as the 82d Attorney General of the United States and rather than be a man of moral courage you chose instead to cower, further inflame racial tensions, advance false narratives and play progressive political activist.

Time and again you chose to "politicize" the mission of the Department of Justice rather than pursue justice and now, tragically, we are witnessing the fruits of your irresponsible behavior in the murder of two innocent police officers in New York City, assassinated by a man motivated by the flames of racial hatred that you personally fanned. How many more police officers will be injured or die in the coming days because of the perilous conditions you helped create in this nation. You, President Obama and Al Sharpton own this problem lock, stock and barrel and now it is your legacy.

As thousands of NYPD officers turn their collective back on New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, another dishonest politician and Sharpton disciple, so too do countless Federal law enforcement officers turn our backs on you.

Welcome to the club.

I along with about 50 cow-orkers were laid off ahead of the Holidays back in '93. NAFTA went into effect on 1/1/94 and the whole business relocated to Mexico. In the years that followed, over 40,000 American businesses were shuttered and millions of people just like me were forced out of a formerly rewarding career in manufacturing.

Thanks a lot, Billy Jeff Cliton.

My Global Warming 'discussions'???

Them: CO2 cause global warming!
Me: Uh.... how?
Them: Its a Greenhouse Gas!
Me: Do you know how a Greenhouse gas works?
Them: no, it complicated...
Me: Well... I do... Greenhouse gases work by absorbing very specific IR bands of energy in the atmosphere, which is then passed on to the rest of the atmosphere by convection and conduction...
Them: /looks glassy eyed...
Me: Problem is that all the energy in CO2s absorptions bands is already BEING absorbed by CO2 and Water Vapor... so adding more CO2 won't do a damn thing...
Them: well.... its complicated... but scientists all say...

You need to put the gore-bull warming in terms the cognitively impaired can comprehend.

"Carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere acts like an ultrasheer condom. It helps retain the warmed fluids in which we bathe. By reducing carbon dioxide, you will, in effect, ask Gaia to go bareback. Surely you don't want Gaia to have unprotected sex, do you?"

Ah, the dreaded "inner filter" effect.
Just for fun, ask the prog what proportion of the atmosphere is CO2 (any units they like; usually they go for mole percent, although they don't know what that is). Most common answer: 5%. Correct answer: < 0.05%.
Then ask same question re water vapor. Typically they have no idea. Correct answer: on the order of 1%, or 20 times as much.

317 312--spot on about Kate Hudson. She seems like a dork. And she dated A-Rod. Plenty of girls are pretty without being "hot." But there are far more girls where the opposite is true. "Hot" girls are all over the place, but very few of them are pretty. A lot of them are rather plain in fact. But a little make-up, fresh-smelling hair and tight jeans transform them into "hot."
