Saying this country's "gone" might not be too off the mark. I made the mistake of looking over the comments from several Youtube videos of the officer being murdered. About a third were condemning the act (with half of those saying it isn't related to Islam), a third were cheerleading it, and a third were saying it didn't happen, meaning it's Hollywood or Mossad or whatever. The world has gone crazy and we are in deep, deep trouble.

The upshot was that Escobar was isolated and vulnerable, and so terrified that he tried to cut a deal with the U.S. No dice. On the run, eventually the Colombians (with covert U.S. assistance) tracked him down and killed him.

I just missed the bakery yesterday. I had to spend 20 minutes in my car because it was so cold out a frost formed inside on the windshield. I had errands to do & I should have gone to bakery first but didn't want pastry to freeze.
I was going to go out today, but my day started with my breaking my humidifier after I filled it & had a flood all over kitchen floor.
I hate when day starts like that, usually it's just downhill after that.

I tried one of those Wise buckets; can't eat it. Wrong kind of calories. They would be good if you have some talented cooks, and some basic real food and just use the Wise powders for flavoring. The EU and the super-pussification of the Europeans that has been going on since the end of WWII was a reaction to the centuries of bloody European in-fighting that ended in 1945. The EU came into existence to suppress European nationalism, to get Euros to think of themselves as Europeans rather than Germans, French, Spaniards etc.
They were able to indulge in the conceit that they had "evolved" beyond war and nationalism because we were footing the bill for their defense. However, it's a sort of unnatural stance for them. It's like a pit bull pretending to be a poodle. The last 60 years have been an anomaly in European history. Let's see if they will revert to form if pushed hard enough or if they are too brainwashed (or too old) to defend their cultures.
I think they'll either cave entirely (it sure doesn't seem like there is much much fight left in the Brits) or things will get really bloody. Oddly enough, I have more faith in the Continentals than in the Brits at this point. The Brits seem really, really crippled by post-colonial guilt - the French and Germans, not so much.

There is no chance this can make sense. Not there is no material basis for the technical charge - that's conceivable. But that, given the circumstances, it would be prosecuted. The guy paid the price for his idiotic judgement, and malice or assistance to national enemies doesn't arise as a motivation - so this sort of case would never be pursued.

But when Dubya's reaction to the first (SWIFT?) leak did not include (1) revoking the WH credentials of the lead leaking news organization (2) an insane witch-hunt/lockdown of all federal entities that were possible suspects, with firings and/or prosecutions and/or public denunciations/blackballing of likely suspects (yes, bare-knuckles risky aggressive stuff) (3) a nationwide address vilifying this particular kind of treason when so many Americans were leaning forward risking their lives in the war on terror - I was devastated. Some SES POS - or several - should have had their lives ruined, their families humiliated, perp-walked from the McLean homes on TV. And the media that participated in the attack on western security should have been challenged and vilified - on an on-going basis.

Not exactly. The revolution was a civil war too and many of the losing side felt safer leaving for greener pastures. IE. England, Canada and the Caribbean. Had a strong invite to go. After the Civil war in the reconstruction it didn't go so well in many cases for southerners.

North Carolina Tories planned to gather at Cross Creek in February 1775 and form a loyalist army. Most of the 1,500 that assembled were Scottish Highlanders (1,300). They met them at Moore’s Creek Bridge, where the Tory force suffered serious defeat and shattered Governor Martin’s hopes to maintain royal rule in North Carolina.
During the war, Tories suffered for their loyalty. Prisoners of war were imprisoned, and throughout the war Tory farms were raided and property seized. In 1777, many Tories left the state, for its legislature passed a law that authorized the seizure of Tory property—more specifically the property seizure of those who refused to take a loyalty oath to the Patriot cause. After the war, property seizures and reimbursement issues were settled in post-war North Carolina courts. The most famous case was Bayard v. When you have a collection of religious texts from 2000+ years ago that have a historical batting average of 1.000 on extensive previous prophecy - as opposed to global warming scientific projections that can't even get squat right over a 10 year period - you have to give those texts the respect they deserve and grant that they are going to be right too.

Anyone feel free to correct, but, no. It will handle most common handgun calibers but you get up to rifle rounds, especially .30 cal, and it loses effectiveness.
7.62x39 comes in around 2,179 Joules. .38sp at 319. .357 can make it about 1000J.
Rifles hit way harder yes.

The plates we use in US Mil are supposed to be rated up to 7.62mm. A few buddies have taken hits with no issue from AKs but the plates definitely need replacement.

This country is not gone. Not by a long shot. Tonight I'm sitting having a late dinner after 13 hours of work as a reservist for one of our Armed Forces (it doesn't matter which one). We have deployment orders coming later this year (it doesn't matter where). What is important is that every man and woman under my command loves the Republic, knows the importance of duty, and has family and friends that support each of them. As reservists, we get shit upon monthly with a variety of taskings that we have to do for free and live under the ever present threat of reductions in force while trying to maintain the highest levels of readiness and keep our civilian employers content. Every month is a challenge and not one of us would have it any other way. We give a shit when we see our flag, when we are doing our jobs and when we have to sacrifice to protect freedom.
Does anyone think I would rather be where I am right now than with my wife and 5 month old? Negative, Ghost Rider, that pattern is full. But I'm here anyway because I took an oath to defend this nation and by God that is what is going to happen.
Don't feel pity; my crew and I chose this path. Don't thank us; it is our job. But don't dispair for the future of the Republic. The future is bright and you would agree if you could look into the eyes of the enlisted members I have the privilege to lead.
