19 I thought this was going to be about Obama.

The first year he was president, I read an article that said that he and the Mrs. don't give Christmas presents to their daughters. I've noticed since then that there has been no coverage of the Obama's Christmas traditions -- other than their yearly extended (and ludicrously expensive, to taxpayers) vacation in Hawaii.

During other presidencies, the MSM has reported on what kind of gifts the president and his wife exchanged at Christmas, and showed them attending Christmas church services. But there is silence about the Obamas. Could it be that the media is protecting Barry "my Muslim faith" Obama from public speculation about the legitimacy of his professed Christian beliefs?

22 The NBC News investigative reporter Matthew Cole has pieced together a remarkable story revealing that a single senior officer, who is still in a position of high authority over counterterrorism at the C.I.A. -- a woman who he does not name -- appears to have been a source of years' worth of terrible judgment, with tragic consequences for the United States. Her story runs through the entire report. She dropped the ball when the C.I.A. was given information that might very well have prevented the 9/11 attacks; she gleefully participated in torture sessions afterward; she misinterpreted intelligence in such a way that it sent the C.I.A. on an absurd chase for Al Qaeda sleeper cells in Montana. And then she falsely told congressional overseers that the torture worked.

Had the Senate Intelligence Committee been permitted to use pseudonyms for the central characters in its report, as all previous congressional studies of intelligence failures, including the widely heralded Church Committee report in 1975, have done, it might not have taken a painstaking, and still somewhat cryptic, investigation after the fact in order for the American public to hold this senior official accountable. Many people who have worked with her over the years expressed shock to NBC that she has been entrusted with so much power. A former intelligence officer who worked directly with her is quoted by NBC, on background, as saying that she bears so much responsibility for so many intelligence failures that "she should be put on trial and put in jail for what she has done."

Instead, however, she has been promoted to the rank of a general in the military, most recently working as the head of the C.I.A.'s global-jihad unit. In that perch, she oversees the targeting of terror suspects around the world. (She was also, in part, the model for the lead character in "Zero Dark Thirty.")

38 On Friday, Obama vowed that the U.S. would "respond," to the attack, though he offered no details on what that response might entail.

He mocked the North Korean regime for launching an "all-out assault" over a satirical movie, but he also chided Sony for responding by shutting down the movie's release.

"I think they made a mistake," Obama said.

Obama said that if somebody can "intimidate" a company out of releasing a satirical movie, "imagine what they start doing when they see a documentary that they don't like or news reports that they don't like.

In the past, no-other country was both strong enough and unlikely to raze cities, take away all the goodies and hang the intellectual class, but fortunately this iteration of the struggle has realized that if you surrender it doesn't matter how strong your opponent actually is.

But, leftards' metric for job success is totally different than a normal human being's-

they don't care how well you do the job-

just how well you follow orders, brown-nose your superiors, and spout the Party line(no matter how ridiculous)-

actual competence at your work is a very distant fifth or sixth concern.

Smart leftists (I know, I know) would realize by now that they have essentially won everything-

short of a kind of Soviet style communist government-

and to maintain their programs-

they need a strong economy and dynamic, prosperous middle class.

That's what amnesty and Boehner's stab in the back, and all the other nonsense are all about-

trying to smoothly cram America into the Socialist Democrat model of Europe.

Plenty of graft for the connected and minimal responsibility to the voters.

Unfortunately, they've chosen to destroy the middle class as part of their plan, and so it cannot succeed.

Therefore, Women like the example above are the necessary superstars of this plan.

How to nuke a sore throat:
Get fresh ginger root. Slice & peel around 1teaspoon of it. Put in saucepan with 2 cups water. Bring to a boil then simmer for at least 5 min. Let it cool to tea temp then pur a cup for yourself with a big dollop of honey.
If it makes you cry then put a tea bag of regular tea in to disguise the bite more.

98 Lurk lurk lurk

So many half-thought-out replies come to mind, and incipient wanna-be jokes and quips; but they don't coalesce into comments, so I lurk.

A symptom of this my season of... lassitude.

Days lately have been overcast. Just chilly enough to be discouraging. Gray, featureless sky, morning to night, day after day. And the daylight itself, so brief! I am miss the sun.

Now! The solstice at last! Sure, the worst of winter is still ahead. No, the dawn doesn't come dramatically sooner, nor the sunset noticeably later, at first. But, just knowing that the cycle has reversed, that the sun is moving north again, is warming, invigorating.

Burst of solstice-inspired energy expired, I back to lurkness shamble.

You may have heard it before, but-

I've noticed sometimes his ambient music sounds like some of his previous work slowed down tremendously and re-arranged.

He did a similar thing with Pachelbel's Canon in his first ambient album "Music for Airports" -

114 My husband's grandfather's a Messianic Jew. He came about it in a really round about fashion. He mother was Jewish, but not practicing, and he sort of wandered through various Christian denominations before deciding that Christianity had perverted the intention of Christ by abandoning its Jewish roots. So he follows all the Jewish law/ holidays ect, just with the understanding that Christ was the Messiah. I think some family ties to Judaism are common in that group, but they don't necessarily grow up in families that are practicing.

I think Jews for Jesus are usually people who are raised Jewish who come to the conclusion that Jesus was the Messiah. So functionally, there's not a lot different between the two groups, but they come from different perspectives.

Actually, the sunrise keeps getting later for about two weeks after the solstice.

The earliest sunset was about two weeks before the solstice, and it has gradually been getting later since then. But the sunrise has been getting later faster than the sunset is getting later, so the overall length of daylight has been decreasing.

After the solstice, the process reverses. Now the sunset is getting later faster than the sunrise is getting later, so the overall length of daylight begins increasing.

This is the case for 40º N, at least. The specifics may be different for other latitudes. I believe it has something to do with Earth's elliptical orbit.

196 Perhaps they simply appeared similar to Orthodox Jews, black and white clothing, the long and curly locks on the sides, etc.

When I was in NYC I tried to never get too deep in to religious conversations. But I did work with at least one guy whose temple passed out pagers to alert them of the coming of the messiah, which I thought was a unique bent.
The fact that pagers were used should give you an idea of how long ago was this.

Posted by: navybrat at December 20, 2014 10:57 AM (JgC5a)

197 Kwanzaa was invented by a deranged man to counter Christmas because Christmas was the white man's holiday.

The founder had two of his female followers stripped naked and beat for what he thought was betrayal. There was a lot of gunplay between the organizers of Kwanzaa and the Black Panthers over who would control the African Studies Center at UCLA.

Great and lovely holiday. Follow the money.

What is funny to me is that blacks that celebrate Kwanzaa have no ties to Africa other what is told to them. When I worked at a hospital in Southern California, I had nurse friends that worked in Labor and Delivery. They said it was very common for a black woman to name her baby some ridiculous African sounding name and then not know how to spell if for staff to put on the birth certificate. If you're going to name your child Bonquisha Maliquanna Africaaanus you should be able to spell it.

I have a girlfriend whose husband was a LAPD officer. Long story short, she discovered due to his changing body and personality, that he was going through the transition with drugs to go from male to female. She divorced him and tried to shield their 10 year old son from this disaster. He insisted that their son call him "mom". Her ex flew to Thailand and had the whack-off peen surgery and returned even a hotter mess than he was before. Tragically their son died in a car accident at age 19. His "father" came to the funeral dressed in a mini skirt and hooker heels. It was all her family could do to keep from beating the shit out of him in church.

Oh and yes, he received full disability from the LAPD and now lives his messed up life at tax payer's expense.

204 Infidel - It was an awful time. Their son told all of his friends that his dad had died a hero in the line of duty as a cop because he didn't want anyone to know what his dad had done. He was a very popular, beautiful kid and a star athlete. On one occasion he was playing football for his school and his dad showed up in full hooker costume and makeup. He insisted after the game to go up to his son and introduced himself to his kid's friends as his "other mother". It was humiliating and I had to hold my friend back from killing him right there on the field.

I would have helped her kill him and hide the body, but neither of us wanted to go to prison.

Awful.

207 Ahh. The wonderful Texas ... ummm ... pointy green triangular thing with all the round ball thingies hanging on it, all decorated with ... ummm ... advertisements for football, pigs, chickens, fishing, "keeping Austin weird", country music, old forts, and .... whatever.

Yes. Yes indeed. That says Christmas to me!

But of course the "Christmas" tree would have this goofy crap. The instructions to designers was to "create a representation of hat makes each house district special". It's all about me, Me, ME! My stuff, my land, my sports, , my bridge, my lake, my house, my fun, my leisure, my work, mine, Mine, MINE!

Fortunately Texas is shucking that old angel, creche, wise men, angels, donkey, madonna, baby stuff. [That "baby" stuff, what was that all about, anyway? I forget.]

I respect the Satanists in Michigan. They know there is a war between Christ and Satan and they are not afraid to throw down the gauntlet.

But Texas? Ahh, yes. Much sneakier (and more effective!). Take the symbols (trees, balls) and gut them of meaning. Replace them with Mammon worship and self-worship.

A "Christmas Tree" (celebrating Christ), becomes The "Texas Tree" celebrating Texans.

Go look at the ornaments on the Texas Christmas tree link. Scroll through the pictures of the 2014 and look at the "Christmas tree" ornaments for the last five years. Tell me how many have Christmas/nativity images (the colors green and red don't count).

Search the 2014 text for "madonna" [0], "virgin" [0], "mary" [0], "manger" [0], "creche" [0], "baby" [0], "infant" [0], "savior" [0], "wise men" [0], "shepherd" [0], "jesus" [0], "christ" [0] "jesus christ" [1] and "diverse"/"diversity" [8].

Satan does not win the Michigan way by throwing down the gauntlet.

Satan wins the Texas way by telling us how wonderful we are, how many things we have "earned", and how the entire world ought to worship us.

209 Greetings:

As to your mention of North Korea, you may find this somewhat interesting but different.

Since the analog to digital TV signal conversion, I've been watching a bit of the [South] Korean Broadcasting System's KBS World TV programming and what has occurred to me this holiday system is that the word "Christmas" seems to bee used more by the South Koreans than by American TV broadcasters.

Think about that a bit if you dare. And, of course, have a Merry Christmas.

Posted by: 11B40 at December 20, 2014 11:28 AM (evgyj)

210 "The messianic Jews are those who believe in the divinity of Christ. Which makes them not Jews."

By that rule, the messianic Jews of Brooklyn who believe that Rabbi Menachem Schneerson was the messiah ("moshiach") are not Jews either. But of course they are!

In the Brother Daniel Affair, the Israeli supreme Court denied Brother Daniel (a Jewish convert to Christianity) citizenship in Israel not because he was not a Jew, but because he (as a Christian) was a danger to the Jewish people.

See: http://www.haaretz.com/life/books/meet-brother-daniel-a-jew-converted-christian-turned-monk-1.379291

Once a Jew, always a Jew. Apostate Jew, perhaps, but still a Jew.

Interestingly the Orthodox Jewish establishment had no problem with Brother Daniel being granted citizenship under the Law of Return. They knew the law and Brother Daniel was a Jew.

It was the assimilated secular Ashkenazi Jewish establishment that feared Brother Daniel and his mere presence in Israel. People of shallow faith are fearful of losing what little remaining connection they have to their people.

Truly your anger and resentment embody the True Spirit of Christmas.

Can't it just be that as a government entity there is nothing wrong with honoring Christmas in a way that is most accessible to the greatest number of Americans, irrespective of their religious beliefs?

I do not need (or want) my state legislators to use my taxpayer funded facilities to make a public statement of their own personal celebration of a religious holiday -- whatever it might be.
