With the Guardians of Peace (aka North Korea) Now Threatening 9/11 Style Attacks on Theaters that Exhibit "The Interview," Five Theater Chains Cancel The Film's Showings

The country's top five theater circuits have decided not to play Sony's The Interview, a knowledgeable source tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Regal Entertainment, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark, Carmike Cinemas and Cineplex Entertainment have all decided against showing the film.

This, following new threats that the "Guardians of Peace" (aka the North Korean external intelligence services) would kill people at theaters screening the film.

"The world will be full of fear," the message reads. "Remember the 11th of September 2001. We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time. (If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.) Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment."

I think Sony will pull the film.

And then it will be released on Pay Per View, where it will make 75% of what it would have made in the theaters.

And the word will go out. No movie company is going to name a real repressive regime as a heavy any more. You can't create a $300 million product and let it be held hostage by nuclear-armed fruitbats.

So from now on all bad guys, and not just 90% of them, will be White Male Christian Businessmen, or made-up countries like "Qurac."

I agree the type, kind and quality of the film itself are determining factors insofar as risking one's life to see it for the sake of principle. Theo Van Gogh died for 'Submission'. There's a theater up the street from me that shows first run movies for $4 all the time.

No, it's not IMAX THC certified but it's clean and has great popcorn.

Of course, you have to show up an hour ahead of time to get tickets since they don't sell online but still. $4. First run.

So how do we reconcile the two?

We used to be very good at Cold War, back when we had a president with balls. Lots of Russian spies "disappeared." Being in the CIA was very cool, but also very dangerous. Those heroes are now painted with the same tainted brush, because of the current leadership.

Speaking of which, as long as President "Cuba, I am SO sorry..." is running things, it's best to not show the movie and wave the white flag. He's not exactly the right kind of guy to authorize a decapitation of a regime, and nobody who dies for him has died for a good reason.

360 Bring back the days when we went after these guys and killed them. They're at war with us already. We've just been pissing around, navel-gazing, self-criticizing, ad nauseam. We have all these young men who rightly want to check out of the whole "married with children" thing. I don't blame a lot of them.

There's a big fight on the horizon about the direction humanity is going to take. Is it going back to despotism, but now at a global level? Or are we going to have different national models in healthy competition?

The Germans won't take shit from Muslims forever. How long are are going to take shit from these backward-ass dictators? If they hang on long enough, our resident libtards like Obama will hand them the keys.

Killing people on US soil would be nothing less. Say what you will about non-traditional adversaries and borderless terrorists, North Korea is a country that very much has a government, an army, and a border. It is as traditional as it comes and we as a people should remind them in none too gentle terms that we could take over the entire country and show-trial the entire leadership for less than the present value of google's market cap.
