Police Enter Lindt Coffee Shop, Ending Sydney Siege; Gunman and One Other Dead, Three Seriously Injured

Could have been worse.

The gunman who held hostage at least a dozen people for up to 17 hours, is one of two reportedly killed in a dramatic shoot-out at a Sydney cafe during the early hours of Tuesday which abruptly ended the seige.

Police fired automatic weapons and lobbed stun grenades before storming the Lindt cafe in Martin Place in the heart of the city's central business district.

There were that at least three others were injured, but this could not immediately be confirmed.

Now we enter the most important phase of a terrorist outrage: Being lectured for a month that Islam is Peace.

The gunman seems to be a lunatic.

The man who held more than a dozen people hostage, placing Sydney's CBD into lockdown is no stranger to the NSW police or the judiciary.

Self-described cleric, Man Haron Monis, 50, first came to attention of police when he penned poisonous letters to the family of dead Australian soldiers seven years ago.

Last year he was charged with being an accessory to the murder of his ex-wife and mother of two.

Most recently, he was charged with more than 50 allegations of indecent and sexual assault relating to time allegedly spent as a self-proclaimed "spiritual healer" who dealt with black magic at a premises in western Sydney more than a decade ago.

Monis, who has also gone by the names of Sheikh Haron and Mohammad Hassan Manteghi, was born in Iran and most recently has been living at Bexley North in Sydney's south.

Police at the scene of the siege on Monday night. Photo: Andrew Meares
He recently likened himself on his own webpage to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, claiming the most recent charges against him have been laid for "political reasons".

...

He was charged in November 2013 with being an accessory before and after the fact to the murder of his ex-wife Noleen Hayson Pal.

Ms Pal was stabbed and set alight in a Werrington apartment block.

He may have been a lunatic, but he's a "cleric" in a religion that favors lunatics:

His former Facebook page, pulled down on Monday night as the siege continued had 14,725 "likes" when it was shut down.

To the point that some of them deliberately misinterpreted the writing on the flag (well- interpreted the words directly word-for-word instead of translating properly).

Facts don't give a rats ass about "official definitions."

Do you know what the official definition of "research misconduct" is? Falsification, fabrication, and/or plagiarism.

So if I embezzle a shit ton of grant money, and kill a subject with a shitty protocol, I haven't actually committed "research misconduct."

Would any paper report it as "technically not misconduct?" No. That'd be absurd.

In an ideal world the press shouldn't care about "official definitions" and bureaucra-speak. This press sucks balls though.

If he had accomplices to detonate the "other" bombs, they would have blown them as soon as the cops assaulted the coffee shop. Assaulting the place would be the same as a sniper shot.

They should have taken the shot.

292 Why do leftists champion Muslim behavior? Because it is another Death Cult - members of one Death Cult recognize members of other Death Cults.

The leftist Death Cult of Big Government:

30,000,000 dead in the Soviet Union from Purges and planned famine
60,000,000 dead in China from the "Great Leap Forward"
6,000,000 dead in Nazi concentration camps
2,000,000 dead in the Kmeer Rouge "Killing fields
55,000,000 dead in the United States from abortions.

And people wonder why I find leftist politics offensive.

I haven't read the suit but, unfortunately, I have experience dealing with those who are trying to come up with a way to get at the gun manufacturers.

Inherently defective product which the manufacturer knows will cause fatalities. Manufacturer had actual knowledge, see articles attached, that mentally ill people would use its device in such a manner as to cause injury and death to others. As such, putting such a weapon into the stream of commerce is per se negligence.

That theory is an attempt to get around the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act via a negligent entrustment route. This is all errant nonsense, not to mention, oh, what is the legal term I want, utter bullshit.

The suit should be tossed with sanctions against the plaintiffs. I'd put the odds of that happening at 20%.

IIRC, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act still allows for normal products liability theories. I'll be surprised if the suit doesn't claim that scary looking black rifles with the shoulder thing that goes up are inherently defective.

Of course, the plaintiff's bar tried that with the Black Talon round and got their heads handed to them. Turns out that arguing that a lethal projectile does exactly what it was deigned to do isn't a winning products liability strategy. Who knew? But yeah...deep pockets...

457 Muslims have done a pretty thorough job of ethnic cleansing the Middle East, the birthplace of Christianity, of all Christians.

In the past 50 years they did it mostly not by killing, but by threatening to kill and forcing the Christians to move to Europe or America.

There are tiny Christian remnants in a few countries. Only Lebanon has a large enough group that they can project any force to protect themselves. The remaining Christians in Iraq, Syria, Egypt, etc - mostly survive at the whim of the jihadis, who seem to occasionally grow bored of killing them and leave them alone sometimes. But at any moment a round of killings and religious cleansing could start up.

Christians in Lebanon control some actual territory. Wouldn't be surprised if that becomes the Christian Israel someday -- the last holdout of Christianity in the mid-east.

What should happen is the motion to dismiss succeeding along with Rule 11 violations. That won't happen, though, hmm, I wonder what impact Twombly and Iqbal will have. Shall ponder.

This is all grandstanding and there are massive, massive causation issues and it's utter bullshit.

But, yeah, I agree. Splashy headlines now. Quiet summary judgment dismissal with no sanctions later.

479 To amend my comment/question, I don't think it's a bit reasonable or prudent for SCOTUS to routinely avoid decisions often through flimsy rationales. No "judicial modesty" involved in avoiding doing their jobs - merely cowardice and characteristic smallness of character (for most national-level "leadership"). SCOTUS (and inferior courts) should both take on cases without all this dodging and excusing, but most importantly address substance and, you know, actually use reasoning in their rulings, not the idiocy that has brought the country to its knees (Roberts on ACA being only the latest and most spectacular case of catastrophic irresponsibility and "making s**t up")

True, but-

Lutherans' religion does not explicitly call for the killing, subjugation, enslavement, and rape of non-believers.

As does Islam, the Quran, and it's Prophet.

If Lutherans are murderous, they are violating their religion.

If Muslims are murderous, chances are- they are following the dictates of their religion and thus are Good Muslims.

The best comparison that I can think of now is that when the Catholic priest scandals broke open and the cover-ups that were involved, Catholics were outraged. They spoke openly and loudly against these abuses and forced in many cases (not all) the revelation of who the priests were and what they had done.

To Muslims, there seems to be no deeds too awful to protest against. CAIR goes out of its way to defend the ROP and bully companies including Hollywood.Their peopleallow themselves to live lives of enslavement and brutality.

When a leftist whines about GITMO, torture!!!, war on women, racist America, etc. I remind them of this in the most graphic of terms.

498 426, another defense is the fact the military has never bought Bushmasters, or as hardcore gun nuts call them, "Bushamster." Their basic build quality over the years has been lacking. Loose castle nuts, unstaked gas keys, garbage steel....They're basically garbage equal to DPMS, and noted USMC vet and firearms trainer Pat Rogers once said "I wouldn't buy a DPMS rifle if it came with a free blowjob." The only companies I can think of that are worse are Olympic and Hesse/Blackthorne/Vulcan, the latter sucking so bad they have to change their names every few years.

510 Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword....wait there's even more Now what if i told you there was a simple Wordpress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That's right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin
