Sleuths Dig Into Sabrina Rubin Erdley's Previous Exposes, And Are Totally Delighted

"yes this happened"

Update: In 2004, Sabrina Rubin Erdley wrote about her former classmate and coworker at the Daily Pennsylvian (Penn's student newspaper), one Steven Glass.

His friends can’t help but want to protect him. Which helps explain why Glass’s deceptions aren’t caught sooner; his peers simply want to believe him too badly.

That might have been the case at The Daily Pennsylvanian, as well. Looking back, some of us have questioned the veracity of one particular Glass article, in which he followed a group of homeless men around for a day, taking notes as they drank Thunderbird, fought, procured prostitutes, and smoked crack. "Johnnie is the leader of his 'posse,' a club of several dozen homeless people that has its own intricate rules and traditions," it read. "All members of the club identify their allegiance by donning an American Heart Association button and a Zenith Data Systems painter's cap." The reporting felt almost too good to be true. At the time, it seemed like proof of Glass's know-how. Now we wonder if it might have been our first glimpse of the fabulist he'd soon become.

Rolling Stone managing editor in 2006 talk: 'We'll write what we believe' http://wapo.st/1G9O2G9

Whatever Rolling Stone finds, “A Rape on Campus” clearly aligns with Dana’s vision for high-impact magazine journalism. In a 2006 appearance at Middlebury College, Dana gave a speech titled, “The Myth of Fair and Balanced: A Defense of Biased Reporting.” According to a writeup in the Middlebury Campus, Dana put forth a common and compelling critique of contemporary standards under which journalists “worship the grail of objectivity” and “play twister to hide their bias,” said Dana, a 1985 graduate of Middlebury.

“I want to do stuff that’s biased.”
...

Though the editor said his publication would endeavor to give both sides of a story, he said, “we’ll write what we believe,” according to the Middlebury Campus.

True story. When I was in college, a buddy and I decided to attend the annual Middlebury College Winter Carnival. We didn't know anybody there but it is a big party and thats all the encouragement we needed.

We threw sports jackets over our sweat shirts, jeans and sneakers and crashed parties telling the students that we were potato farmer from Skowhegan, ME and we were in negotiation to buy the land that Middlebury College was built on and turn it into a potato farm. We would leave the classrooms but the rest of the entire campus, potatoes.

Not one of these young geniuses called bullshit on us despite the fact we were their age, we looked like a bag of dirty laundry and, um, potato farm. Fucking hilarious evening. Still makes me laugh remember how upset these idiots were that their campus was going to be turned into a potato farm.

93 Serious mental illness often strikes in late teens and early 20s when the young person tries to separate from the safety of their parents -- ie during college.

Most people I know knew of somebody who cracked in college or grad school. I knew a girl who went mental and made crazy rape accusations. Buddy of mine's roommate in grad school cracked and became convinced my buddy was part of a govt plot trying to poison him -- my buddy had to hide in a hotel for two weeks before the dude's father came and took him to the psych ward.

People naturally try to hide the real reason and blame some other illness or problem for why they suddenly vanished from school and show up a year or so later.

Mental illness is pretty common, and the college years are prime ages for sudden onset or a spike in severity.

100 Allah has a hmmmm post that has an old roommate stating that something happened.

If so, she was ashamed to discuss at the time for some reason.

I read a story that the friends said that she was forced to perform oral sex on more than one guy. Let's assume, for the moment that this is the truth.

Even if true (I have my doubts), it's horrible enough, yet somehow she felt like she had to embellish it.

First, she had to have a villain. Since she didn't want to accuse any specific person (why not?), having those mean old bastions of privilege, the frats, be the enemy allows for directional activism without having to go to court and prove anything.

Second, she had to be entirely sympathetic. So it needed to be full penetration and there needed to be physical injuries, hence the glass table.

Watch out for the following: "Jackie"'s story will reduce back to the forced oral sex story. She will still claim not to know the men but will say that it was not at a fraternity party and none of the details of the violent bloody rape were true, although she was raped.

The SJWs will start to argue that "Jackie" had to lie, that nobody was paying attention to her story, so she had to ramp it up a couple of notches.

So, it's the patriarchy's fault for making her lie, don't you see?

Hell in addition to the drunk I lived with for 6 weeks (we're pretty sure he came completely fucked up and his parents were dumping him on a new state) we had another kid who I went to high school with prior, who lost his fucking marbles.

After the university forcibly removed him from campus (after he threw a shoe at someone in a class that he wasn't even enrolled in...why was he there? Who knows!)

After that it was found (although rumored I supposed) that he was bipolar and stopped taking his meds when he got to campus. It's not actually that uncommon apparently.

124 That's when everything between them changed. With their hips pressed so intimately together, she could feel the hard length of him, could see the desire gleaming in his one dark blue eye. For her. reckless thrill raced through her, and for what seemed like forever they stared at one another while everyone else continued to dance around them. Then his hungry, searing gaze dropped to her mouth.

Breathless with anticipation, her lips parted, and she dampened them with her tongue. That seemed to be the only invitation he needed to lower his head and kiss her ... and she didn't even try to stop him. His lips were warm and soft and persuasive, seducing not only her mouth, but her senses. He deepened the kiss, his tongue tangling sensuously with hers, while one of his hands drifted over the curve of her bottom to haul her even closer. A hard thigh slid between hers, and his hips moved against hers in their own private dance - a slow, deliberate gyration that caused a pulsing, throbbing heat to settle between her legs.

That's when she knew she had been raped.

One of my colleagues in grad school was the most gullible person I've ever met. We used to compete in telling her stories, which typically started out totally plausible, and gradually became more and more ridiculous, to see how far we could go before she'd realize she'd been had. Usually somebody would lose it when the story took a truly outrageous turn, and she'd gulp, wide-eyed, and say, "Really?" at which point someone would burst out laughing.

She was a freshman, probably drunk, in the dark. The girl that was recently abducted and killed was a second year student that went to multiple parties, left on her own, and appeared to be disoriented. Sadly, she is now dead.

This one might very well not know where she wound up, and may have agreed to something, or was forced to do something, and not only might she beexperiencing regret, she might not have a clue as to where it happened, and with whom. Women who were attacked by strangers often report feeling somehow responsible for the attack visited upon them. It is probably far worse here. In retrospect, her decisions that night were factors. No one deserves to be attacked. But if i got drunk in the city and was rolled, you or I would get no sympathy.

137 Speaking of lifetime movies someone should write a screenplay about an up and coming governor from a southern state who sexually harasses and even rapes women and has the state police cover for him.

And then when this governor runs for president and gets elected a couple of brave women come forward to tell their story while the misogynists in the press and the now president's office try to destroy them.

The climax of the movie occurs when one of the victims gets her day in court and forces the president to admit he sexually harassed her and he loses his law license.

That's part of the reason why moving far from home to college is a trigger for many. It's a shock to the system. It disrupts literally every routine in their life. Where they live, what they eat, who they talk to do, what they do, etc, etc.

211 I sometimes like to watch Forensic Files about how technology is used to solve real criminal cases. In one episode, this sort of white trash looking chick had gone to her dentist, a well respected man, and told everybody he raped her while she was unconscious. The dentist volunteered for a DNA test to clear himself. They drew blood from his left arm and lo and behold it didn't match the alleged rapist's DNA. The girl was adamant that he raped her so she hired a PI who broke into dentist's car, got hairs from the head rest and DNA from a coffee mug and lo and behold, they did match the rapist's DNA. Dentist volunteered for another blood draw and once again there is no DNA match. Time passes and dentist's step-daughter alleges that dentist has been raping her. Now they get a warrant allowing them to get a blood draw from the dentist and, since his consent is not needed, take it from where they usually take it, his finger tip. This time the DNA does match the rapist. Turns out he had surgically implanted a plastic tube in his left arm which contained someone else's blood. When he volunteered he stipulated they take the sample from his left arm and got someone else's DNA.

He said that was just a simple precaution because bitches always be lying about him but the jury didn't believe him.

People can be physically intimidated. If the opponent is larger, or numerous, and scary, the victim may choose to comply if threatened tih violence.Sadly, many people who are abducted do this, hoping that if they comply, they will survive. Often, that makes it easier for the criminal. Most people who have held a job have been told to do exactly that.

What happened (I am guessing -- I didn't press her on this) is that she got wasted and screwed some guy (or guys) or did something else unseemly, and her justification was not she wouldn't have done it if she hadn't been drinking, but that she wouldn't do something like that at all, so she must have been forced.

341 I was never much of a drinker, so never had the drunken sex walk of shame experience. But most of my college friends did. And the guys seemed to regret it as much as the girls. Both were, like, "Why did I *do* that? I've made a terrible mistake." And I'd tell them, you probably did it cause you were lonely and got drunk and horny, that'd be my best guess.

For every girl feeling horrible about giving a drunken bj, there was a guy scared to death that he'd gotten drunk and let the mouth-sore chick blow him. So regret worked both ways.

There was an Oberlin College Republicans website up (it may be taken down now) and "Barry" had been an officer for 2 of the 4 years of the club's existence. (I think it was 2005-2008 or something.)

That wasn't picked out of the air. I never read the book, but from what I read from John Nolte at Breitbart, she didn't assert that "Barry" was a pseudonym.

Also, why identify him as the "campus conservative" or whatever phrase she used? That doesn't fly with me but it'll probably fly with some dumb judge.

One interesting bit of information in the piece was that up until a few years ago, the Feds didn't even track rape of males. They also automatically ignored any locales that provided rape numbers that included male victims.

402 Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword....wait there's even more Now what if i told you there was a simple Wordpress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That's right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin
