Saturday Politics Thread: Opposition? What Opposition? [Y-not]

Via @MamaAJ123 on Twitter:

AwkwardRino

Yeah, I got nothing. I'm still nauseous over the CRomnibus.

How about some laughs, instead?

You might have seen that the Prog group American Bridge released their so-called opposition research book earlier this week. Much of their "research" consisted of old yearbook photographs. Hilarity ensued on Twitter, some of which was summarized at Twitchy.

Some highlights (or low lights, depending on your point of view) follow:

(Don't feel too badly, Marco. I also worked on Dole's campaign.)

(Umm... yeah, I worked on Nixon's 1972 campaign, too. "Nixon's the one!" -- baby!)

I suspect this picture will appeal to the morons:

Cheerleader.jpg

As does this one:

Cruz.jpg

All I know is we'd better find a good conservative to back unless you want this to happen:

JebSoon.jpg

(You can download the entire stupid thing here, if you're so inclined.)

From Mike Lee at The Other McCain:
"as rotten as the CROmnibus before us is, I want to state for the record that thei week leaves me with nothing but optimism. Optimism about the prospect we have for real reform and revival in the coming years. The miserable process we've witnesses this week represents the last gasping throes of a discredited Washington status quo. 10 years ago, this bill would not have been controversial. 5 years ago, an easy majority would have been purchased with earmarks. This week, with the full weight of both party's leaderships it barely made it over the finish line."

In one scene, they patch through Nixon to Neal Armstrong. The way he adresses the President with deference and respect are truly astonishing to my jaded eyes/ears.
Obama would never engender that level of respect today, nor would he be worth it.

96 I knew the GOPe didn't want to lose their cushy minority status. They sure found a way to ride it at least one more year and maybe piss off enough of the conservative base to lose the senate majority right back in 2016.

I like Ace's idea of working to toss out the worst of them but I don't know if the country has time for these slower lessons nor if the local voters would toss out their pork providers. I just don't know what can be done to save the republic -- this must be what it felt like in ancient Rome for the knowledgable folks.

97 Compare and contrast -

- Republicans showing interest in politics in HS photos and wholesome family lives.
- Obama showing interest in 'chooming' in HS and tacky porn mom photos.

Not unlike Romney once carried a dog on the family car where Obama once ate the family dog.

104 >>I don't know about the "Rule", but Gowdy opposed the Crominbus and voted Nay.

The "rule" was the vote that mattered. It was the mechanism used to bring the CRominibus to the floor. (If you look at it, it's some unrelated-sounding thing they piggy-backed CRomnibus on.)

That's the vote that almost failed. (IIRC they passed it by 1 vote.) And that's the one that the guy yesterday claimed to have only voted for b/c Boehner/GOP leadership lied to him.

So these guys who voted for the rule but against CRomnibus are lying sacks of shit.

There were something like a dozen or so Rs who voted with the Ds against the rule. Amash was one of them.

Louie Gohmert (Texas), Paul Gosar (Ariz.), Tim Huelskamp (Kan.), Walter
Jones (N.C.), Jim Jordan (Ohio), Steve King (Iowa), Raśl Labrador
(Idaho), Thomas Massie (Ky.), Bill Posey (Fla.), Matt Salmon (Ariz.) and
Steve Stockman (Texas)."

Honestly, there is zero percentage in the Dims passing this bill.

They can shut down the gov't - MSM will praise them. And use it to spotlight Warren and give her a e.g. up over Hillary!.

The can pass it, sure.

But why?

They know Boehner can be easily rolled like a drunk $10 tunnel hooker on Saturday night.

And he's a corrupt coward to boot.

The Turtle? Meh, no spine there either.

They got everything they want - Obamacare funded, amnesty funded, amnestied illegals on Social Security-

but they want-

and will get -

more.
