Some say, fracking tech has improved so much that US industry can withstand the Saudi price war -- especially the Texas plays.

The TURK @TheTurk9 3h
#Saudi Oil Move Won't Stop Texas #Shale Production | News Radio 1200 WOAI
http://tinyurl.com/msjd2e4

Texas oil producers say if Saudi Arabia hoped to wipe out shale oil production by refusing to cut production and allowing world oil prices to drift lower, they are about three years too late, Newsradio 1200 WOAI reports.

...

UTSA economist Tom Tunstall, who studies the Eagle Ford, says most producers can withstand oil prices as low as $60 a barrel and still remain profitable.

...

Tunstall says one impact that the Saudi move may have is to slow exploitation of new fracking opportunities, especially in Northern Mexico, where the oil industry has recently been deregulated after decades of state control which stifled innovation and encouraged corruption.

"The Saudis would like to not see shale oil and gas development occur in other places where it is starting to, like Mexico, like Argentina," he said.

In fact, due to technological advances, including what is called 'Super Fracking,' experts say much of the Eagle Ford could withstand oil prices as low as $40 a barrel, a level which would bankrupt Saudi Arabia, which has 90% of its exports in crude oil.

Saudis are the low-cost producer -- but the size of their welfare state and lavish govt spending is premised on mega-profits from oil, not just decent profits.

Saudis would still make money at $40 -- but that wouldn't be enough money to meet the govt spending budget. And Saudi keeps the peace with all their crazy jihadi young men by bribing them.

Hundreds of thousands of animals set to be slaughtered during two-day religious festival in Nepal
The Hindu festival is held every five years in honour of Gadhimai, the goddess of power
Festivities kicked off on Friday morning with the mass-slaughter of 5,000-6,000 buffalo in a field
The last time the festival was held, in 2009, more than 250,000 animals were killed
Worshippers believe the animal sacrifice, meant to appease Gadhimai, the Hindu goddess of power, brings them luck and prosperity

Oil is constantly being made and that process has been at work on Earth for hundreds of millions of years.

Most of the oil we have extracted from the Earth is very old. The rock formations from which it is gleaned and the chemical composition of the oil can tell you that.

The contemporary production of oil and the antiquity of oil deposits are not in conflict. Just the opposite.

The real issue is rate of production. Oil may be a renewable resource, but only on a geologic time scale.

How much biomass settles to the bottom of the world's oceans (plankton, flotsam, seaweed, whale shit, etc.) compared to the surface biomass of the continents? I would guess that it is a large "amount".

220 Hinduism is basically the last of the pagan religions. And still going strong. Billion+ adherents.

Pretty much all the other pagan cults have fallen to Christianity or Islam. But Hinduism has been able to hold out.

Christianity and, especially, Islam are still eating around the edges though. Hinduism isn't very good at converting people. Mostly relies on high birth rates.

Hindus are almost as bad as Muzzies to folks who leave and especially those who convert to Christianity.
Both are from the pit 'o Hell.

My province, for now, of Ontario has been pursuing green energy for the last several years. Hydro rates are expected to rise 42% over the next five years.

On the plus side, automakers are shunning the province. Theoretically, that's terrible that high-pay manufacturing jobs are leaving. However, the automakers pay the union workers, the union workers pay the union, the union helps elect Liberals and socialists, the Liberals and socialists then put in 'Green Energy' policies that raise electricity rates that help drive out automakers. So screw the union people.

The circle of life.

...they import foreigners to do 'grunt work', run the technology (and oil/plastics production), and subsidize muzzie (sharia) out-reach to all the 'infidel' nations.

And of course, buy politicians like they were prized action figures... when they're not busy financing jihad over the whole f'cking planet.

If the gross Saudi income fall below a certain point, the average rag-head prince there will have to get a 'real' job (and education to match), and all the subsidizing of islam (have you seen Mecca lately?) might face the budget axe (or sword, if you will).

Hell, they can't even grow their own food... without a steady influx of petro-dollars flowing in... they're massively boned.

251 Saudi attitudes toward everything money can be shown by one simple thing. If any one country on the planet ought to be investing in solar R&D, it's Saudi Arabia. Lots of sun, and lots of wide open spaces that aren't used for anything at all. In other words, it's the perfect place for solar farms, and developing affordable solar harvesting technology ought to be a priority. But afaik, the Saudis don't bother.

At some point the peninsula's going to run out of oil. But everyone would rather party than figure out what they're going to do when the black gold dries up.

This has all happened before; when The West needed the Silk Road to get goodies from the Far East, muzzie nations were rolling in cash and raising hell with any infidels in their path.

Once the Silk Road went 'tits-up'... most muzzie nations (except for the Ottomans) became dusty, dirty, forgotten side-shows.

Lesson: rich muzzies are trouble; poor muzzies are only trouble for each other... see Sunni vs. Shiia for further details.

Microhydropower systems...

Small streams... less than a 10 or 20 foot drop in elevation, and you can have useable electricity.

Don't even have to use a damn... just divert part of an existing stream into a sump upstream... lay pipe downhill to the turbine...

Its all dependent on elevation drop, and how much water is flowing...

But with a 4000 to 5000 ft drop in elevation here in Clownifornia.... there are LOTS of places where you could put in a smaller plant...
