7 As a Giants fan, I can only hope for a lot of injuries. Since even I'm not that low, I guess I'll root for the Cowgirls.

(Read a piece about Jerry Jones, and I kind of developed a little sympathy for the man. I'm seeing an oncologist after the holidays; it might be operable)

"In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line."

141 Got sucked into work meeting all morning, putting off the mashed taters, stuffing and dinner rolls.

Turkey is now late by 3 hours.

Just tasted stuffing and gravy and it's quite good.

Bird resting ready for slicing.

Taters in oven on 200, green bean casserole is coming up to serving temp.

Dinner rolls are shit canned, but who cares, you don't need them.

143 My two brothers are dealing with a Thanksgiving crisis. About 24 of us are all together at the ranch and watched the Spurs game last night no problem, but during the night the main satellite dish expired in perfect weather. Bros went back into town to brave Walmart on Black Thursday for some coaxial.

At this time I don't know if they survived Walmart. Sis told them to stay together and leave no man behind. We're praying for them

So far the septic system is holding, so that's a blessing.

I swore I wouldn't eat any tatoes or bread. Ok, I only had two smallish servings of the mashed potatoes and the sweet potatoes. Each. I swore I wouldn't eat any dinner rolls.

Ok, three.

And a piece of pie.

And a glass of pinot noir with the smoked turkey.

Back to oat bran and yogurt tomorrow, if I can stand it.

169 Hello, Horde!

I got to meet one of the 80s Cowboys cheerleaders a few years ago. Turns out she's married to one of my radio heroes, Jim Zippo. She's still beautiful and a real class act.

Tonight: I'm stuffed from dinner. Eating a whole chicken, even if it's the size of a cornish hen, is still a LOT of chicken. Pretty proud of myself for roasting them for the first time. CW Jr. says his rocked.

170 100 - Hey GGE, thanks for the kind reply. I don't think you've yet commented publicly on it yet, but I hope things are still well between you and family, after the latest "meeting" of a birth parent...

I really would *prefer* to lurk, due to employers and the NSA possibly "watching" my comments, but I would like to offer up a couple of things to the group, for the holiday season:

- I'm in Delaware, nearer to the Phila. Eagles side than to the Baltimore Ravens side to the south of the state... so I can say locally, a lot of people are still confused by coach Chip Kelly's style and choices, compared to previous coach Andy Reid's. But while it's interesting and often exciting to see Eagles games now, they haven't yet proven they can win against top shelf teams *cough*Green Bay*cough*New England*cough*San Francisco*cough*

- Re: Joe Biden, he is a Delaware phenom whom the rational people from other states don't necessarily "get". I've lived in DE a number of years, but am not FROM here, still a problem to the natives. Re: the link about Joe and trains, I've met and spoken briefly with him a few times from the years 2002 - 2007, before 7 AM on weekdays at the Wilmington, DE train station. I'd be awaiting a train North to NYC, while he (and sometimes other Delaware politicians, such as Mike Castle) would be taking an early train South to Washington. I'd be groggy and sleepy (waking up at 5 AM to get to the train station by 6:30 to catch a 7 AM-ish train to NY for morning work meetings there, groan) and Biden would be manically walking around shaking hands and talking to people: "Hey Man!" he'd say to me, while I was still sleepy and cranky there, holding my cup...

Also unfortunately, there are some people here to the left of Joe: if you want to increase your blood pressure, see http://delawareliberal.net

Again, safe and pleasant holidays to all in the Horde. It seems to embarrass him, but I'd also like to wish 'tsrbike' well. Also good wishes (and safety) to 'TangoNine', and to 'HR Needs Donuts' and her varied aliases.
