Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder: Did Governor Jay Nixon Refuse to Deploy the National Guard Because of Pressure from Obama and Holder?

Speculation.

What isn't speculation is that the National Guard was at the town, but did not move in to restore order until this morning, after dozens of businesses had already been looted and/or burned to the ground.

"What the vast majority of Missourians are asking this morning is, 'We see the National Guard rolling in this morning, … where were they last night?' The law-abiding citizens, and businesses owners, and taxpayers of Ferguson and the St. Louis region have the right to ask this governor to answer some questions," Kinder charged in a Fox News interview....

"Why were they not in there at the first sign of an overturned police car, or a smashed police car window, with a show of force that would have stopped this? And here’s my question that the governor must answer: Is the reason that the National Guard was not in there because the Obama administration and the Holder Justice Department leaned on you to keep them out? I cannot imagine any other reason," Kinder said.

Ferguson's mayor did request that the Guard be deployed -- and he was ignored.

Nice Deb makes a good point -- stop referring to violence and arson as "protests."

But that's their favorite trick, isn't it?

27 Speaking abstractly, the form of these allegations strikes me as bizarre and dysfunctional.

The governor makes a decision - maybe a very wrongheaded one with terrible consequences - and the lieutenant governor is out giving interviews asking everyone but the governor why he did so?

Maybe instead he should resign in protest. It would be a principled stand. More mundanely, he's clearly not in on the decision-making process.

39 That there was even a grand jury phase at all is the problem. This was justifiable homicide.

However, I think the hope of Obama and the Democratic Party, a black population carrying out a war of terror in the U.S., will elude them. Lincoln tried, with the Emancipation Proclamation, to reunify the nation by slaves operating behind the lines. It turned out they just wanted 40 acres and a mule. What the black want today is obviously different but it's not to be gotten with wholesale trust in the democrats anymore than in the Republicans.

57 "stop referring to violence and arson as 'protests.'"

Indeed. You've crossed the line between protest and just wanton destruction and personal gain when you start to loot and riot.

In 1965 Watts and 1967 Detroit, there was at least some reasonable basis for being so upset and becoming violent. Things were intolerable, blacks were treated poorly for decades and generations. Enough is enough.

But this? What exactly is the beef in Ferguson? I'll tell you what they are mad at, the miserable state of blacks in America. Double digit unemployment, inflation on basic goods, misery and malaise. They had such high hopes with one of "their own" in the White House and it turned to ashes.

So they are faced with two choices: blame the President and the Democrats who lead them... or riot in anger and blame whitey.

Now, we know which of those the press, the president, and the race baiters prefers.

145 You know, my daughter (senior in college) looked at the footage last night and wondered aloud "now did we let it come to this".

I thought about it for a minute, and explained that this has been in the works for FIVE DECADES. Blacks have been intentionally encouraged to have this "blame whitey" mentality for all that time, in order to gain power through the black vote. The people seeking this power could not care less, I observed, how much violence and destruction, or how many lives are lost or injured in the process.

And today - on a less profound note - it's being observed that the Guard could have been employed to shut this down, stat. The Democratic governor wanted the drama, and didn't care about who or what got hurt.

A lot of their problems over the last 30 years are they're own making. Bill Cosby, crucified in the media just in time for this circus, was going around city by city telling black parents to pull their acts together and educate their children.

"If you're in front of television cameras crying about your child, then it's too late..." I remember Bill telling people in Detroit.

Don't want to be poor. Learn proper English. Go to school and learn some sort of valuable skill or trade people will happily pay you for. Sorry, you're going to have to study and work hard. Move to areas with low taxation where you keep more of your money.

Don't have bastard kids out of wedlock. Get married. Stay married.

And depending who you ask, church or some sort of moral guidance can't hurt as well.

Yes. Charming. At first I thought he wanted his wife burned down.

Of course, many, including our Pygmy Potentate, did not bother watching or reading or listening to what the Prosecutor had to say last night. Facts like fingerprints, DNA on gun and collar of Wilson. Blood in patrol car. Witnesses. No hands up don't shoot scenario by two witnesses saying the same. It is all a folk story for them...witnesses that were not even there but "heard someone say whatever." Ignorance is bliss or fuel to riot.
All I asked, in 2008, was for The Won to help black families rise to the times, promoting education. Promoting two parent families. Promoting black men being responsible for their fatherless children. Promoting equality vs division. Had he done one of these things I would have a nanosecond of respect vs the rest of the mess he has stirred up. But could he do the one thing you'd expect of the first black president? No. Instead he inserts himself into every black/white controversy with the DOJ or his own prancercising raciss facial mole. pfft.

272 About these "protests", one must remember history. (from wiki re: Russian Revolution, 1917);

"At the beginning of February, Petrograd workers began several strikes and demonstrations. On 7 March, workers at Putilov, Petrograd's largest industrial plant, announced a strike. Although some clashes with the Tsar's forces did occur, no one was injured on the opening day. The strikers were fired, and some shops closed, resulting in further unrest at other plants.

The next day, a series of meetings and rallies were held for International Women's Day, which gradually turned into economic and political gatherings. Demonstrations were organised to demand bread, and these were supported by the industrial working force who considered them a reason for continuing the strikes. The women workers marched to nearby factories bringing out over 50,000 workers on strike. By 10 March, virtually every industrial enterprise in Petrograd had been shut down, together with many commercial and service enterprises. Students, white-collar workers and teachers joined the workers in the streets and at public meetings. In the streets, red banners appeared and the crowds chanted slogans such as, "Down with the war!" "Down with the Tsar!" "Down with the German woman!" "Down with Protopopov!"

332 My (liberal) friends who were staying with me last week had very strong opinions about Ferguson -- opinions that were uniformly anti-police and pro-"Mike-Brown-Is-A-Victim"-narrative, of course.

So we were walking along in Oakland at one point and I pointed to a Swisher Sweet wrapper on the ground (parts of Oakland are knee-deep in Swisher Sweet wrappers, like most inner cities in America) and I pointed to the Swisher Sweet wrapper and said something like, "Heh -- Swisher Sweets: the unlikely cause of American cultural disintegration!"

Their response?

- They had never seen or heard of the product known as "Swisher Sweets." Ever. In their lives.

- They did not know that they were used as containers for drug-smoking, and denied it was true and poo-pooed my info on this topic even though they admittedly knew nothing about the topic.

- They did not know that Mike Brown had just stolen some Swisher Sweets from a liquor store owne he then subsequently roughed up;

- They did not know that the Ferguson PD had released a BOLO to search for the suspects in the Swisher Sweet robbery, which was the instigating cause of the whole incident;

- They did not know that Mike Brown still had the Swisher Sweets on him;

- They did not know there had been a confrontation prior to the shooting. They thought that Darren Wilson just walked up and shot Mike Brown in the back "for being black";

- Even upon hearing everything I had to tell them on the topic, they rolled their eyes and looked at each other knowingly like I was some crank conspiracy theorist.

That, my friend, is life in the elite liberal bubble -- over-educated low-information default progressives who think they "know" everything but actually nothing less than nothing.

All of those businesses that were trashed and burned to the ground last night, and all those that may potentially burn and get trashed tonight, I figure that their rates will most certainly rise. But will it be enough to cause some marginal businesses to close up shop? Keep in mind that Holder still is investigating civil rights charges. If he can't come up with a way to indict Wilson, will they riot again? Will the riot again on the anniversary of St. Swisher Sweet getting his Darwin award?

It's even worse than that. Most insurance policies have, in the fine print, a disclaimer that you cannot file a claim for damages and / or losses during times of "civil insurrection".

How do they define "civil insurrection"? When they have to call in the National Guard. See also: Benton Harbor, Michigan. Large portions of that town are still burned out and boarded up from the riots in 2003.

378 Savannah is getting cameras for our police to wear, since the shooting by a white cop of a felon, who had just kicked out the window of the cop car, got his cuffed hands in front of his lanky ass, and had just pulled a gun out of his baggy pants. Black cop was there as a witness.

So what did the locals want to do? A councilman, former New Black Panther, Yusuf Shabazz, stood in front of the store where the arrest took place, with a bull horn, and demanded the locals boycott the poor store owner.

Cannot fix stupid.

462 I hope Natalie Dubose's cake store is up and running again. I would like to order something from her. It is Americans like her who break my heart during this mess.

I am not racist. I did not feel a sliver of racism until I had to endure the racial divide brought to us by this mess of an administration. Who promote this. Who are using the choice of the likes of Al Sharpton to choose a replacement for the DOJ. Racism earns his pay that he does not pay taxes on and the WH supposedly has no awareness of this. But I digress.

I was raised in the deepest heart of Dixie. I never thought or said the n word as I would have gotten into a lot of trouble involving spankings and a bar of soap to wash out my mouth. I was told, in plain language, that only trashy and ignorant people spoke this way. I am not exaggerating: I never said it. Of course, I am not the right color to say it as it is in the music and culture everywhere.

I know black people who are really, really good people. Hard-working. They do not judge me or my family due to our own skin color or success. All of my life I viewed some of them as my family, and have known one lady since I was born and her entire family. One of my sons has a good friend and co-worker who is black and also of a college rival: and they are hilarious together, joking about race and football. Why can't it be this way?

Answer: Because racism is $$ to some. It is votes to Democrats who want them to be angry, vote angry, and remain in welfare.

I know, without asking, that the riots of Ferguson hurt my black friends deeply. These people may share their skin color, but they do not share their beliefs that we all are Americans. We all, with some exceptions, can rise above poverty, can own a business, can get an education, can go to the church of our choice, and they know they have more priviledge than in, say, 1964.

Yet, the Al Sharptons, the Jesse Jacksons are stuck in this time of Rosa Parks and segregation. Why? Money and attention. It is their life's blood, and without it they become no one (well, Al will become a bobble-head regardless).

I am furious at the damage these mindless rioting thugs cause our country I am furious at the damage and expense they have caused shop owners. I am furious at the embarrassment they cause their race. Destruction of private property and theft are ok if you don't get justice...try to say that with a straight face. Yet they are encouraged and rewarded with MSM by this behaviour.

Now when smelly white hippies of Occupy farm and protest, I don't think, "Crap, those stupid white people rioting, I am so embarrassed." No, I think,"These stupid people really wish they were in Woodstock or the Vietnam sit-ins with daisies in rifles." I don't notice what color they are only how painfully dumb they seem. I am not embarrassed due to my skin color.

And the point of this rambling rant is that this WH and his minions of Sharpton (who is not a real Rev anymore than I am, by the way), and that guppie-eyed Jackson, continue to divide this great country...where to most of us, if we have black, Asian, or Indian friends, the first thing we don't think of is, "Hi, Nina, how is your brown skin?" This administration wants to take us BACKWARDS fifty years. Been there. Done that.Sad.

Apparently it is. In America our "leaders" seem to have lost the will to make any hard decisions -- decisions, that is, which go against the grain of PC.

If the governor was instructed by Obama and HOlder to do something which went contrary to common sense and public safety, and the governor controls the National Guard -- why did he have to listen to them? Was he afraid that O H would call out the actual U.S. Army to battle National Guardsmen?

570 We also received a more detailed text from him this morning about 8AM that he was coming off shift.... that he had been up for 26 hours and was going to get some shuteye..... and that he hated ABC and CNN reporters.

Again... for what its worth.

There was a reporter last night who was walking in the street with their microphone and began approaching the formation of police who were in riot gear and were obviously scanning the area looking for suspects, possible assailants, etc.
This dumbass started walking up to one of the officers, who waved him off, he started to walk toward another and got a big wave off this time that finally penetrated numbskull's brain.
" Oh, they are waving us off".

I couldn't believe it. What the hell did he think he was going to ask? "Is that riot mask uncomfortable?"" Are you nervous?", "How do you go to the bathroom in that?"

572 Just wondering, is Mo(D) Gov Nixon recallable ?
The new Mo State Senate is 25R- 9D and the new
Mo State House is 117R- 45D

573 Missouri being a heavily demorat state, this Ferguson mess is a demorat invention locally with Obama stepping in from outside to throw a molotov cocktail into the riots to enhance the situation for political plundering. Neither Obama or the Governor allowed the national guard in until their rioting buddies were done rioting and plundering and gone. Not all that much different that BenGhazi in some respects. Like sending in the cavalry to save the day after the indians left.
