My understanding of the Ferguson Grand Jury is that it is made up of nine whites and three blacks.

I expect the three black members of it to borrow a page from the OJ Simpson case, but if they don't, I expect them to be highly fearful of repercussions from the larger black community.

I also suspect the white jurors really want to acquit, but also really want the black jurors to go along with them so it isn't seen as totally racist by the black community.

I keep reading variations of this sentiment.

The last time our republic was at stake, individuals started shooting at each other. If one were truly to believe the republic hinged on the outcome, wouldn't one be morally compelled to take similar action?

298 I don't think consensus has hit critical mass yet. I remember back in the 60s, approval of the Vietnam war flipped to negative in a matter of weeks. We may be close to consensus flipping to recognize the danger. I think we all know that shooting at people makes it hard to resolve things a different way.
