27 BIG ALFREDO, I'm glad you caught that, despite their obvious pandering to the LGBTQQRRABCDEFGHPP+ community, there is an astounding lack of women in the painting. This underrepresentation is truly an affront to equality and the artist is obviously a misogynistic bigot.

And don't tell me that ASIAN woman counts as a woman. We all know those Asians don't count in paintings any more than they do at Harvard.

In 26 paragraphs, not one mention of Islam or Muslims.

And there was a second opinion piece related to terrorism which only mentioned Muslims to say that while they have received attention lately, they are not the only terrorists.

The Canadian military has always been the best Canada has to offer. The rest of the country, outside of Alberta is almost too stupid to live....

49 The WH is spreading rumors that Hagel was not tough enough against our enemies, per my mom's interpretation of news coverage. I did not like Hagel, but I would think he is better than Power, Obama or Jarrett. He did serve in uniform, so I give him that (though so did John Kerry). Something is very wrong in the WH. I just hope it is what we know, and not a new horror.

Which is why starving the bureaucracy is part of the solution. It is shameful to the nation that the region around Washington is among the wealthiest in the country, for most of the money upon which that wealth transfer has taken place has been borrowed from our children and grandchildren. Another part of the answer is to force the GSA to relocate the bureaucracy to places that are cheaper to live and less desirable for bicoastal elites.

105 @49 - from what we know about the Obama White House it seems there's an inner circle that extends barely beyond Valerie, there's a second ring with the Susan Rices and the Eric Holders and a few others that have Obama's ear so long as they don't offend Rasputess, there's a third ring that might get his attention from time to time on specific issues, and there's a fourth ring that's basically the people Obama figures he can ignore.

Hagel was no better than third-ring, and he had neither the stature to stand up to Obama's inner circle nor the moral fiber to resign and oppose the administration's behavior.

The reality is that even Gates did little better; under Obama the SecDef is a job for a lackey willing to prostrate himself before the emperor's gaggle of credentialed wormtongues.

109 The WH is spreading rumors that Hagel was not tough
enough against our enemies, per my mom's interpretation of news
coverage. I did not like Hagel, but I would think he is better than
Power, Obama or Jarrett. He did serve in uniform, so I give him that
(though so did John Kerry). Something is very wrong in the WH. I just
hope it is what we know, and not a new horror.

Except, "Our Enemies", according the the WH, is CIS-gendered white men serving in the military. The next Secretary of Defense will start the mandatory rape trials after the first enlistment.

Given the nature of this administration I'm really waiting to see how he handles this one.

Hagel was weak, and seems to acquiesced in a whole lot of administration nonsense he should not have, but he was not the kind of card-carrying SJW that Obama's inner circle could count on to pursue aggressively the hollowing out of the culture and effectiveness of the US military.

There was also some comments about new development to counter China, etc.

(What foreign policy crisis would lead a global zero advocate to demand higher nuclear spending?)

I see this as Hagel growing into his job and Obama hating that. He wasn't fired for being incompetent, Hagel was fired for being independent and a sense of duty to the job.

208 Well the NYT buried the real reason Hagel was fired in their last paragraph (although everyone knew before he went in that he would be the fall guy.)

He raised the ire of the White House in August as the administration was ramping up its strategy to fight the Islamic State, directly contradicting the president, who months before had likened the Sunni militant group to a junior varsity basketball squad. Mr. Hagel, facing reporters in his now-familiar role next to General Dempsey, called the Islamic State an "imminent threat to every interest we have," adding, "This is beyond anything that we've seen." White House officials later said they viewed those comments as unhelpful, although the administration still appears to be struggling to define just how large is the threat posed by the Islamic State.

Just like ISIS, the regime decapitates an erstwhile ally to punish the Republicans. It could be as simple as responding to the Senate power shift by getting rid of someone without strong morale grounding, someone who bends with shifting political winds, you know, someone like Hagel

445 Oh-oh.

I'm oddly buoyed, except I'd have to get on the freeway in my rolling death trap to get there.

Lady in Black, it's been three days since your polyp removal and the doc
may very well approve you using Ibuprofen at this point. Three days
before and after surgery are typically what is requested in order to
make sure there are some clotting factors in the blood stream that
haven't been affected.

Call.

I'm now waiting for the nurse to call me back. I'm pretty tough when it comes to headaches, but those that I get after anesthesia are the worst.

448 438 On the Percogesic, looks like the main ingredients are acetaminophen, diphenhydramine. The acetaminophen won't do squat for me, but maybe the other will knock me out. I'd welcome the relief.

What I know, still not a doctor, is that it knocked the pain from an abscessed tooth, and also a separated shoulder ( which I got from pounding my jaw to make the abscess hurt less.). I might have made the last part up.

sadly, there have been times that an ice pick within reach would seem like a resonable option

454 I did, but I can't find anyone stateside who weaves my family Tartan. It's a pretty common name, too.

Any pain between the ears drops me. Sinus headache, migraine, toothache, etc.

Extremeties & trunk, not so much, but between the ears? Scotch.

Sorry, can't do a basic black kilt. Wouldn't be prudent.

It's either my family Tartan or nothing.
