How many professional athletes are there in America? Male and female separate.
I don't know the answer, was just wondering.
I'd define a "pro athlete" as making a living at it, so at least $50K a year. And that's cash, not other compensation (like college scholarship) that is harder to evaluate.
And which sport has the most "pro athlete" jobs? For men I'm pretty sure it's baseball once you add up all the minor leaguers, for women ... I don't know.

- Finding #12: "Deputy CIA Director Michael Morell made significant changes to the talking points."
- Finding #13: CIA did not intimidate or prevent any officer from speaking to Congress or otherwise telling his story. --- this is not exculpatory for State or the Administration...
Any reporting that says that this clears the Administration is probably taking its language from the "Minority Views" (Appendix 2) which was not in the PDF that I reviewed.

Sounds about right. Although, this bunny's best moment came when he jumped onto a 5-gallon pail of wall spackle. The lid flipped up and in went bunny rabbit. Then, of course, he jumped out and shook himself. We were finding dried spots of plaster on the walls, furniture, etc. for years afterward.

I was thinking it was either that (feeling threatened) or the logistics of having the jurors, judges, lawyers in one place at one time. Were I in charge of the security detail I'd have all the above take cabs to the courthouse in the morning and then stagger them out in the afternoon. The jurors may not even be going home for a while after this. Oddly, if there is a decision to charge they'll still riot. And then we get to do this all over again with a trial.

Because the class of people that engage in this kind of protest typically do not work for a living. Some may be Marxist students, with their way paid by stupid, doting parents. Some are professional criminals. Some are paid "community organizers", and most are probably welfare recipients. There will always be a few who hold some sort of job, but I'd bet you dollars to donuts they are a small minority.

I do understand, and the thing about this all is that in the end all decent people would want to help another man that suffers unfairly due to brutality or mistreatment by another.
There are real problems, we all know this. But these problems are not police brutality (yes it does occur, but it's the exception, not the norm). So the real problems are being tossed aside and all this effort and time is being spent on a show, resulting in who knows how much property damage and violence and possibly worse, to a wasted end.
All the while the real problems are ignored and escalate.
This is a terrible thing for basically everyone involved, and they are fanning the flames and throwing on the gas.
It's very sad.

The GJ'ers (basically) see the same sorta evidence that a prosecutor would present to a (regular) empaneled jury... let's call a mini-pretrial.
The part that doesn't add up (to me) is that by this point in time, all of the available evidence should have been presented... the actual interplay (argument) between the GJ'ers normally only takes a day (at most) to vote a bill up or down.
Something is happening outside the normal dynamic... the only question now is this: is the delay being instigated at the local, state, or national level?

I special ordered my last two Fords, because I wanted manual transmission and gas engine, everything on the lot was automatic turbo diesel at 55K plus.
Now they don't even offer manual transmission on a "super doody".

I used to work for a dealership years ago and you are correct. It's just hard to work the very best deal, especially when what I want is more than 250 miles away. That is almost beyond what most dealers will do for a dealer trade.

I told man at dealer what I had to have in car & what I don't care about.

Of course, the latest vehicle is a 27 year old Ramcharger. Looking to replace my 92, found this through an estate sale.
It had 21k, and was used to pull a boat a few miles to a lake.
The owners wintered in Fla, so it sat in a warm garage during snow season, and has absolutely NO rust.
Probably won't buy another SUV for the duration.

Ya, well, I stumbled into an internet argument about 'science!' vs 'intelligent design' and I thought if one were to stumble across a very young planet with a high concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere and one wanted to terraform said planet, well why not air drop some Cyanobacteria into the soup.

So random chance seems to suggest that amino acid molecules should not be unexpected.
Which led to the smallest genome question.
Candidatus Hodgkinia cicadicola Dsem at 169 genes as listed in the wiki.
The genome of M. genitalium consists of 525 genes in one circular DNA of 580,070 base pairs seems a bit much for random chance, but given enough time and opportunity probability theory suggests that anything is possible.

I picked Lubuntu because of the small-footprint. I just want to set up something speedy with flash, clamav, and couple of other rescue-disk type apps. Lu seemed to fit the bill, but the USB Persistent mode is eye-clawingly laggy.

I have a Kubuntu disc that I downloaded and burned, and successfully used to install Kubuntu onto a laptop, but I cannot get it to boot from the CD drive on this machine. Any suggestions? Somewhere I have a bootable disc for the 3.25" floppy that Cd-rom support, and that is probably the answer.

Video drivers and settings were the hardest for me.
I'd borrow another CD drive and try it out. CD drivers are rarely a problem, IIRC.

It's IDE. I do have a SATA board, but that's for a future project. The BIOS "sees" the CDrom drive but it won't boot from it. You know, there's a chance that maybe I wrote that Kubuntu disc onto a DVD drive. In which case a CD-only drive wouldn't read it, right? I should have an IDE DVD drive I could use.

Mint is Ubuntu with Gnome desktop. Ubuntu uses Unity desktop. I tend to like Ubuntu based distros as there's a lot of software for them. I've played around with lots of flavors of Linux. I've run it on Power PC Macs too.

BIOS on some of those old systems may or may boot from cd, that may also be issue.
It is possible in such cases to install boot loader on floppy that points to the cdrom for the system. I'm sure the files are out there but you would have to do some searching and it would be a trick to find all the right pieces, write the floppy and get it all to work.
I remember doing this years ago.
Tell you a story. I have been using Linux for years, I love it. Started playing with it back like 1997 or 8 I think. The first Linux system I installed was downloaded over the course of a few months mostly at my place of work because back then internet access was limited and by analog dial up, written to floppy's for installation. This was a stack of floppy discs at least two feet high. Must have been 100 of them. When I finally collected them all and had then organized I got to run through the installation process, loading one, hitting enter, watching it spin, ejecting, loading another... etc.
Wow, amazing that it worked. And to see how ubiquitous it is today, is pretty cool.
