It need not be a law, a no contest, felony plea agreement with the stipulation that a green card would be provided, but that citizenship was off the table. Absent a short list of conditions: act of congress or six years honorable service.

Yeah I guess that would work. As long as everyone with a green card were held to the same standards. In the end thought I don't think this will hold up in court. No matter how it;s worded you end up with classes of people...one that can do X and one that can't. And I realize this already exists like felons can't vote while non-felons can.

The paying taxes crap is another red herring because it is likely none of these will ever pay a nickle of taxes. In fact, they will collect EIC and be another set of the FSA.
Also, a condition should be that the so-called anchor baby interpretation is hereby and forever forbidden. All babies born in the US should have at lest ONE parent who is a citizen before they can be considered a citizen. If not they should go through the same consitions as legal immigrants to get citizenship.
Also, all of the green cards issued shall have a photo ID on it and the warning that they are a non-citizen embossed on the card.

Yeah Oregon is extremely careful about this, surprisingly enough. The ID required to get a license or ID card is very stringent and specific. Showing ID to get a job is very tough as well. And a recent effort to allow illegals to get ID and licenses was shot down in flames 2:1.

Those filers end up with a fat EITC rebate. Which is why they lie when they file. And of course enforcement and verification are nonexistent.
So really, bringing more such persons into the tax system will be an utter fiscal disaster. It'll drive the federal finances even further out of balance.

Non-citizens can still get licenses though. And you don't have to register at the DMV. So a legal resident can get a license, then register to vote at the public library or whatever. He's registered to vote, he has ID. He can vote even if voter ID laws exists.

Then how do they know they are illegal? I'm not arguing with you CD, I agree that there are people voting illegally. But if someone is going to put out percentages, etc. then someone has recognized those ballots were falsely submitted and then they should be blocked out of voter rolls.
This is why, IMO, the Dems are so visceral about voter ID and wanting same day registration. Without being able to vote without ID, being able to cast a ballot the same day your register so that it cannot be verified, it makes illegal voting much harder.

If that benchmark changes, even if a customer's auto-renewed plan doesn't raise prices, they will lose some of their subsidy benefit, causing cost spikes from 30-100 percent in some cases, according to a study from consulting firm Milliman.
Auto and home insurance generally doesn't work this way, because of the lack of ties to federal benefits. For the consumer, this means digging through insurance options, figuring out if the new plan covers the same doctors as the old plan, having to weigh adapting to a new network over paying a higher price. This basically imposes a tax on people's time. (And let's hope that back-end difficulties don't cause people to be put into two plans at once, or get lost in the system.)
