EMT: 11/22/14, Something Old, Something New. [krakatoa]

Welcome to probably the most needed weekend in recent history.

Niedermeyer's Dead Horse has had to take a leave of absence, as, for lack of anything specific to report, Life has intervened.

So I'll be your new Early Morning Thread host for the foreseeable future, and I promise, hand to Obama, to faithfully execute those duties.*

That's the new.

A little old to start your day, this, the 2nd day of our Lord, Obama the Foist.

The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.

H. L. Mencken

Intolerable indeed.

* I'm not going to lie to you. I hit "post" and went back to bed. Saturday is the one day a week I get to sleep late on.

3 Since krak asked about tauri in the ont and I was not there I'll leave this here.... not the 709, but I carry a Taurus everyday. Millennium 140. When I say everyday I mean it, 100 degrees and 60 percent humidity it's on my hip. I work outside every day and it gets mistreated but I shoot it every week and it works. Looks like Hell now from the sweat and trash it picks up (I do unload and give it blast from the air hose to knock out the leaves and lint and dirt). I just couldn't justify an expensive gun when I knew I was going to trash it by having it on me all the time so I went with the Taurus, and was so surprised at how well it preformed I bought a couple others for range guns, I like them too, especially the 357 snubby. My wife would have actually replaced her glock with it as her carry gun, she like it so much, except the whole going from 16 rounds down to 6.

Grand Jury releases that there are no grounds to charge the Officer.
List irrefutable evidence supporting the Officers actions.
Ferguson erupts into chaos and rioting.

People outside or Ferguson point, laugh, and say "You stupid Fcuks "

And Al gets hit in the head with a flaming Molotov cocktail, with a video of a black Yute throwing it.

Hilarity ensues.

It's a balmy 24 degrees here.

The Boston Herald says Choom Boy's treasonous act will affect 65,000 illegals here in MA.

I'm sure one of them is President Historic First's© own dear Uncle Onyago. Auntie Zeituni died too soon to get the full benefit of her illustrious nephew's America-hating policies....

Onyago, BTW, is a poster boy for the unannounced amnesty that was already in place. He apparently had a driver's license and a "job" (in a liquor store) already, and was busted a couple of years ago for drunk driving. Like any other citizen in this state, he got a 45-day license suspension and a stern talking-to from the judge.

But the good news is that they'll be providing a fairly generous severance package for those who decide to leave voluntarily. I'm definitely going to take advantage of that. And I guess the volunteers will get a head start at the funemployment office.

But there's plenty of painting and chores to do around the house so at least I'll be busy. Maybe there will be a bounty for certain folks in MO that I can pursue.

66 Against this backdrop of heightened tensions, according to a law enforcement source, two men described as reputed members of a militant group called the New Black Panther Party, were arrested in the St. Louis area in an FBI sting operation.

As initially reported by CBS News, the men were suspected of acquiring explosives for pipe bombs that they planned to set off during protests in Ferguson, according to the official, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to publicly discuss the case.

The official said the two men are the same pair named in a newly unsealed federal indictment returned on Nov. 19 charging Brandon Orlando Baldwin and Olajuwon Davis with purchasing two pistols from a firearms dealer under false pretenses.

Both men were arraigned on Friday in federal court, the law enforcement source said.

86 Scientists have revealed that levels of carbon dioxide increase in the Northern Hemisphere during summers each year as plants absorb carbon dioxide to convert sunlight into food. The CO2 levels again rise as the plants release CO2 after the growing season.

Scientists have found that corn, rice, wheat and soybean are the four leading crops that account for maximum CO2 release in the atmosphere of Northern Hemisphere. Crops act as sponge for CO2 and it could be said that the sponge effect has become bigger because of the advancements in agricultural techniques, leading to more production. There is a sharp rise in demand of food production because of growing population across the world, which means that the levels of CO2 will only increase in coming years.

Researchers have also showed that agricultural production is likely to account for 25% surge in the seasonal carbon cycle. And corn will play a leading role.

128 Amid the chaos of tear gas and police orders to disperse one night, Mr. Bass, 22, was trying to get away from the crowd, only to find officers chasing him, he said, and ordering him to the ground. He spent that night in jail. He was released only after he called his manager at the swimming pool company where he worked, who in turn got the company's owner to post Mr. Bass's roughly $500 bond.

"At the time when I did get arrested, my job was in jeopardy because I had work the next day," Mr. Bass said. "I was like, 'I'm going to try to avoid getting locked up.'"

With his sole source of income at stake, Mr. Bass said he was unsure whether he would join a new round of protests, expected after the grand jury decides whether to indict Darren Wilson, a white police officer, for killing Michael Brown, 18. That decision is expected to come any day.

So far I haven't had any crashes, small-overlap or otherwise. I like the car fine, except that the gas mileage is a little lower than I would like. It's rated 21 city and 28 highway (on the sticker, not CR), but I've been getting 19 or 20 local. I rarely take road trips, but I took one last month, a 350 mile round trip. I got 31 mpg.

I'm puzzled why the local mileage is less than advertised, while the highway mileage is more.

"It was not the primary purpose of this investigation to explicitly examine the role of guns in the Sandy Hook shooting. However, the conclusion cannot be avoided that access to guns is relevant to an examination of ways to improve the public health."

Objective analysis. It's what's for breakfast!

160 So far I haven't had any crashes, small-overlap or otherwise.

Your driving style differs from the tested norm. Starts, stops, hills, etc.

173 I use amazon heavily for reviews.

They're the best part of Amazon. I've decided many times whether to purchase based on what the majority say, then taking a peek at the naysayers.

Something I noticed was that I would always write positive reviews and Amazon would bug me via email to review latest purchase. But then I dinged a couple times, based on lousy shipping, or a refusal of a China vendor to accept a return.

Amazon no longer asks me for a review.

COINTELPRO? Are you serious? ROFL! They are really digging on that one. And for those who don't know, the COINTELPRO program was an activity set up by J. Edgar Hoover back in the 1960s to monitor and undermine various leftwing subversive groups back then, such as SNCC, SDS, SCLC, etc. And it worked, too. Of course, when this program was revealed later in the 1970s, the Dims raised their usual howls of outrage and COINTELPRO was shut down (Hoover was dead by that time).
But what you will NEVER hear the usual suspects talk about is that COINTELPRO was also used against the Ku Klux Klan, and effectively destroyed that organization back in the 1960s as well. Ol' J. Edgar always had a boner for that bunch, and was always gunning for them. COINTELPRO ended them as an organized group. Bit of irony there, huh?...

repost from yesterday

311 Fiscal Times via HotAir link: It's mostly a piece on what a pos Gruber is, but this was interesting:

...This tendency toward selective disclosure has antecedents in Obamacare itself. In the second year of open enrollment for the insurance exchanges, top officials have recently urged customers to shop around for new insurance deals, rather than auto-renew their old policies.Obamacare subsidies are tied to a benchmark of the second-lowest plan available in the marketplace. If that benchmark changes, even if a customer's auto-renewed plan doesn't raise prices, they will lose some of their subsidy benefit, causing cost spikes from 30-100 percent in some cases, according to a study from consulting firm Milliman.

Auto and home insurance generally doesn't work this way, because of the lack of ties to federal benefits. For the consumer, this means digging through insurance options, figuring out if the new plan covers the same doctors as the old plan, having to weigh adapting to a new network over paying a higher price. This basically imposes a tax on people's time. (And let's hope that back-end difficulties don't cause people to be put into two plans at once, or get lost in the system.)

hehe

what a mess

222 #3 My Tokarev is very compact and easy to carry; as a single column magazine it lies flat along my body.

I've also got the wife's MP40C, as needed. Double stack mag, a little bulkier, but probably a more practical choice for a non-gun-fanatic. I'm thinking of getting a full size service model to complement, since the 15-round mags are also compatible with the Compact.

I have to confess, I have been looking with interest at the Charter Arms Bulldog in .40, not least because I can add another gun without complicating the household caliber list any further.
