It's considered "menial" work that is "beneath" them. They feel they're being "disrespected" if it's suggested.

And that attitude isn't limited to the welfare underclass.

A junior high school kid in the distant reaches of my own extended family had it suggested to him that he pick up some extra pocket money by doing the sorts of small suburban jobs that I did when I was his age. Bagging leaves for neighbors. Mowing lawns. Washing cars.

He said, "I can't do that. Those are Mexican jobs."

Bad bad attitude to grow up with. America needs a great big dose of Mike Rowe at all levels of society.

Just wondering how it would go for any of us, in a dispute with Lerner's former employers at IRS, if we had first refused a subpoena for our records, then claimed the records had been destroyed and there were no backups to be recovered (in defiance of federal statutes requiring secure backup), and then, a loooooooong time later, suddenly found that oh, gee whiz, look, here they are, we had them all along.

It's not limited of course to Noonan and her circa 2008 giddy schoolgirl crush on Obama. There are a ton of other members of the chattering class who are just as culpable. Entranced by impeccable pants creases, and what have you.

What makes Noonan intolerable is this endless string of op-ed pieces bemoaning Obama. It's practically the only thing she writes any longer. And not the faintest whiff of self-awareness or self-condemnation in any of it. It's as though her prior enthusiastic touting of Obama had never happened.
