The lack of opposition almost assures that some one, or some group, will snap and it will all begin. And it's most likely that it will be someone that Il Duce has been demonizing and provoking since the beginning of his administration.

He's been setting this up since Day One.

I like this plan.

I can't get over the feeling, however, that our Representatives and Senators (the vast majority of them, at any rate) still believe this is just "a political issue," and don't realize how malignant is the cancer which TFG is in the process of placing in the Republic.

It's like they think, "Oh, he'll be gone in 2 years, and then it won't matter."

It will, matter, fools. The Republic will effectively be over. It may continue for a time on inertia alone. It's death may at first be followed by indifference. But if Congress does not reign in this President, and sharply, then The Great Experiment will be over.

And it will be my children and grandchildren who suffer for it.

Doesn't matter, the entire left-wing media (but I repeat myself) is squawking in unison that Reagan did exactly what Obama is about to do.

I've been trying to keep the meter the same as the original SCOAMF as much as possible. I could go back to "miserable tyrant" (which wouldn't change the acronym), but Traitor still ranks as a worse crime to me.

This won't work until something can be done about the political pressure that is always brought to bear by Liberal Democrat Union members who control transmitters and broadcast studios.

We need to file affirmative action lawsuits against them. We need to push for RICO prosecutions against them. We need to rip them a new asshole for using their influence to push Democrat Propaganda.

Which is why one party control of this information distribution system is so damaging to the well being of this nation.

We have allowed these people to take over an entire industry in which they exert outsized control on the electorate, and they consistently use that control to push stupid people into supporting insane and destructive policies.

We need a fucking Manhattan project to wipe out the existing media, and to destroy it's ability to keep pushing the country left.

We have to destroy the Liberal Democrat Union member media. They created Obama, and *THEY* got him elected.

I don't own one, but I may soon....

Here is where I wax poetic about the .30/30. I have my father's. From the serial number it was made in 1949, so it was probably a high school graduation gift. It was famously designed in 1894.

And it's what makes guns beautiful to me. Some carefully milled wood and metal 3/4 ofa century ago still does what it was meant to do perfectly.

Perhaps if we had a media industry that wasn't made up of Liberal Democrat Union members they might be explaining that this is a raw power grab which is very unlike the constitutionally authorized legislation that Reagan signed.

But we don't. We have Partisan Liberal Democrat Union members telling all the dumb people in the nation that their guy isn't doing anything wrong, and besides Reagan did it too!

I have a minor peeve about the Australian language: "no worries".

That's what they say when they mean "thayou're welcome", but they're too addled from living upside down to remember how to say you're welcome.

So, you ask a waitress for some salt. She brings it. You say "thank you". She says "no worries".

Why would I have been worried? You're a gosh darned waitress. It's your job to bring me salt, and I asked nicely and I said thank you. You're relieving me of the anxiety of HAVING ASKED FOR SALT!

Other than that y'all are pretty cool.

143 Here's a question: If we all know - the people, Congress, etc. etc. - that Obama's executive order amnesty is "constitutional infamy" (which it is), then why don't we just collectively ignore it? The States should continue to arrest and deport illegals, the people should find every way to harass and make life miserable for illegals, businesses that hire illegals (even those under this amnesty) should be harassed and boycotted, and Congress should refuse to fund ANY executive police agency that would be involved in enforcing this amnesty OR going after States that continue to enforce the laws on the books.

Clearly fake.

Posted by: MSNBC at November 20, 2014 09:31 AM (0FSuD)

149 So, you ask a waitress for some salt. She brings it. You say "thank you". She says "no worries".

Umm... do you happen to know the genesis of the phrases "thank you" and "you're welcome?"

To Thank (originally) was to provide payment. Saying "thank you" was saying, "What do I owe you?" or "How can I repay you?" The polite response was then, "You are welcome to it," (that is: "you don't owe me anything" or, as we might say, "don't worry about it.").

Thus, while our culture (American and British) went with "You're welcome" as the shortened form, Aussies went with "no worries" as their shortened form.

That would be like ignoring the attack on Pearl Harbor because Tojo and his crew shouldn't have done it.

This kind of non-response makes sense in a Poppin' Fresh sort of way, but it neither improves the current situation nor does it instill in the Choom Gang any respect for the law or morality.

The only response, IMO, is impeachment and indictment(s). Removal from office and a nice long term in a SuperMax might suggest to President Historic First© that wrongdoing is Not Good.

Yes, I know this would create Bad Optics and is beyond the bought-and-paid-for jerks in Congress, all of whom rate their own cushy gigs as more important than anything else. But right is right and wrong is wrong, and the eventual result of ignoring that is destruction.

Those who deny it will suffer just as much as the rest of us.

Yes. Because faeries were... not polite. To quote Terry Pratchet, "No one said faeries are nice. Faeries are *mean*."

So thanking a faerie was a good way to become enslaved to one, especially if you didn't know the rules regarding when you could claim your favor had been repaid.

182 149 So, you ask a waitress for some salt.

I dispute your etymology. Thank you shares its roots with Danke (kraut) and Dank U (wooden shoes), all of which have the thankfulness connotation of thanking someone.

Every culture has a way of saying merci, grazie, gracias (note the roots of mercy and grace). The Japanese didn't, and they were impressed by the politeness of visiting Portuguese who said obrigado, so they adopted arrigato to fill that whole in their culture.

Well, yeah, there's that too.

Of course then (according to the stories) you'd tick off his family- and that never went well for anybody (you think Greek myths are bad about revenge, look into faerie lore).

Also, most of the stories started before Europeans had really mastered iron- so normal folks mostly didn't have any at hand. One reason you hung a horse-shoe over your door was that it was made of iron, and it was one thing made of iron that most commoners could get. Even their farm implements were often wooden.

Well he DID issue an EO in addition to signing the congress's bill. and so did GHW Bush apparently. So lib's have a point.

So then we descend into an argument about the intent of the EO, its proximity to a lawfully promulgated law and the degree to which the EO is in contradiction to Congress's intentions/desire.

Clearly what Obama is doing (or will do) is going far beyond what has been done by others previously... but it really seems like a matter of degree to me.

When they all show up for jobs with their green cards, how would the employer distinguish the ones who are going through the system in the proper way, from those that just walked in and Obama has now handed them a green card?

Or conversely, when they show up applying for the "benefits". I want it to go back to the old way, where an immigrant needed a sponsor, who assumed responsibility for showing that said immigrant would be a contributor, and not a drain on resources.

It's great to talk about right being right and wrong being wrong - but it's also completely useless if you don't have a plan that actually involves something that will work. The only thing that seems like it will really work right now is simply widespread civil disobedience from the 70+% of the people who oppose this, along with widespread nullification of it by dozens of States.

The way to shut down the EPA budget would be to attach a minimum wage rider to it. Every time the Democrats come up with a number, Republicans insist on a higher number. Eventually you get to something like a $25/hour minimum wage. Make the Democrats explain why too high a minimum wage costs jobs and promotes off the books employment.

232 Ambrose had a good run in Nascar. I was sorry to see him go.

If he'd wanted to race more I think he could have, but his kids were getting older and he wanted them to be raised in Australia.

I also think he realized if he wanted to compete at the top in Nascar he needed to be on a better team, but that probably wasn't an option. He was a better driver than his team. He managed to win a couple races, but it's almost impossible to compete for a championship on a 2nd tier team, regardless of driver skill.

So he'd risen about as high as he could given the limitations of his team -- and the top tier teams are mostly looking at the young, rising 20 year olds.

Seems like he made a smart choice. He can go back to Australia and race for a top team and be near family and have his kids raised in Australia. He can race another decade for a top team in Australia this way, too and make a good living. Sounds like he got a pretty good deal.

Since 1968, no one has been able to take a shot at a Democrat president. (Republicans don't seem to get as much protection - Ford, Reagan. Funny, that.) The amount of security is immense beyond belief. It would take a military operation to take him down, not one guy with a rifle.

I was born in a GOP home - had my pic taken with Goldwater - grew up in a strong GOP community. I was never "liberal," was raised to respect the Constitution and the rule of law, hated Communism and was always proud of my country, yet still the infiltrators and propagadists warped my understanding, and my very cognitive processes. Let's see. Walter Duranty lying about Stalin is the earliest example of leftist reporting I can think of. Then there's Edward R. Murrow berating Joe McCarthy in the 1950's. "Harvest of Shame" on CBS pimping for illegal aliens in 1962 or so. It goes back a very long way.

I have an interest in etymology.

You should look up the word roots for "natural", "nation","patriot", patriotic, et al and pretty soon you realize that "natural born citizen" has nothing to do with where you are born.

Realize that your parents were Cronkited also. My parents were conservatives who, however, had a huge dose of Roosevelt government propaganda, since they had grown up during the depression, lived and fought in WWII and then felt that Social Security, Medicare, etc. were all programs they had PAID into and therefore were ENTITLED to, because they had worked for those benefits.
In those days, we had what, four or five channels max on the one TV in the house, and the news on the radio came on at noon and six pm. Cronkite told us what we "needed' to hear and only super special things in Congress were shown in a special news bulletin. Except for Kennedy's assassination which was shown extensively.

The only time you saw actual photos of Vietnam, riots, etc. was in Time magazine at the barber shop or newstand.

286 235 My friends in meat space are much younger than I. The only people I met when I was exiled to CT were on the softball team I joined. Being young, and not being hordelings, they're also pretty ignorant of history.
So one day they were talking about who was president when they were born. Carter? Reagan? And they turned to me, the old guy, and I said...
Eisenhower.

I played on a baseball (not softball!) team when guys started calling each other by obscure (to me) names and laughing uproariously. In response to my puzzled look, they said the names were of characters from "Bad News Bears, you know, that movie we all watched when we were little kids."

I looked it up. I'd just finished grad school when that movie came out. Yow.
