Vermont Halts Payment to Jon Gruber
Vermont had been paying Gruber major bank to advise them on how to implement deceive their citizens into implementing a single payer health care system.
On Wednesday, Lawrence Miller, chief of health care reform for the Gov. Peter Shumlin administration, announced that Vermont would stop payment of Gruber’s $400,000 contract with the state. As of this week, Vermont has paid Gruber $160,000 on a contract that began July 21 and was expected to continue until Feb. 15.

Gruber has been paid $160,000 so far, which Miller said is split roughly 50-50 between Gruber and his team of research associates.
Those associates will continue to be compensated for their work, and the state anticipates paying them $120,000 more through the life of the contract, while Gruber agreed to let the state keep his half, Miller said.

And in the unlikely event a critical mass of Americans figure out how stupid and disastrous this thing is, they don't really have anywhere to turn on it. Okay, I'll jump in on this one. Cosby, initially, was supporting her, as were many people (including Mike Tyson). Once Brawley's story became more and more suspect, Cosby quickly dropped out of the picture.

I number of years back when Bemidji State first made the Frozen Four the tournament was in DC. I went to their semifinal game and they had to borrow the band from George Mason because the team colors were the same (and obviously George Mason knew something about being the underdog). They lost, but most of the arena was cheering for them.

............Once your used to the popping and cracking sounds of ice you get used to it. You have to be careful where rivers flow in and springs. But if it's 2 feet you can park a semi on it no problem. I did find out a few years ago snow shoeing it was -30 without windchill and your piss would freeze before it hit the snow. It actually made a cool sound.

Little bro backs off and the Vette shakes to a halt. The smoke clears and we are facing in the opposite direction from whence we started. The vette did a 180 in about 18 feet of space without hitting anything. We gathered some respect for the vehicle's power at that point.

The last "build" I did was stuffing a tricked-out 1970 Mopar 440 into a 1971 Road Runner, bolted to the Mopar "pistol grip" four-speed. We called the car "Vehicular Manslaughter", 'cause someone was gonna die (no one did).
You'd wrap that fcuker up & dump the clutch: you had no idea which direction you'd be facing when it's over.

I have friends in their fifties who are terrified of having their drink somehow spiked with some funky cold medina so that they will become sexual zombies , zonked out and sexually battered all night. Doesn't matter that they have about zero chance of being targeted by this imaginary handsome man with a pocketful of date rape drugs. I know one who actually pours her drink that she watches being made into a covered container like you use for exercise, car, etc. "Can't be too careful these days.", she'll say.
Women think they can diet all day, eat a piece of cheese and an olive at happy hour, then drink a fishbowl or two of margaritas and stay completely in control. I'm not saying date "rape" or what we used to call being drunk and stupid doesn't occur, it does, and there are those instances where a woman's impaired judgement puts her at risk of getting in a car with someone she just met, etc. But for the most part, I believe that a lot of "date rape" is next day second thoughts and why did I do that. And since no one can take responsibility for the idiot things they do these days, it must have been drugs.

Generally, in the 20th Century totalitarian dictatorships devolved into communist states on a wave of killings and then often kicked back into oligarchies of various flavors and genocides....and wound up winnowing out the competition to become dicatorships again.
Really, the only states that avoided that were Spain, that turned into a banana republic masquerading as a monarchy enroute to being a thralldom to the Eurozone, and Paraguay.
