I think this is a power play, where Nixon and perhaps the newly elected county executive are trying to put the screws on the prosecutor. It may well be due to potential opponents in future elections.

115 Thanks to all for advice last week on firing up our boiler. It was, as I surmised and y'all confirmed, a degraded thermocouple. Oxidized and pitted and just dirty. The $12.50 universal replacement at Home Depot was the exact choice of our CL handyman. (Craigslist post drew about 30 inquiries, ranging from $400 plus parts to $50 parts included. I insisted we pay for the part. And beers after the fact.) Two of our first-year housemates observed, along with me, so we got our money's worth in education. Everyone can relight the pilot with confidence and could replace thermocouple if they had to. Sadly, we'll all be gone before the issue arises again in this house.

Reagan's major "fault" was that he grew up in an age when even people who had different beliefs and agendas were, at least for the most part, honorable. You might not like what Democrats had in mind, but you could generally trust them to be honest and play by the rules. He was a decent man, and expected others to be decent.

FDR was among the first to drop civility, though he maintained the pretense of same.

By the time Reagan go to the White House, the liberals had figured out that lying wasn't really such a bad thing. Choom Boy has brought that idea to its pinnacle.

Sadly, Reagan would probably have trusted President Historic First� to be -- and do -- what he claimed. At least at first...

House Republicans voted down an amendment that would have required all of their staff members to purchase health insurance from the Federal Healthcare Exchange established by the ACA.

Rep. Ron DeSantis of FL I believe put up the amendment behind a closed door meeting and it was rejected by the leadership.

Yet since he took office, Obama has been ignoring that part of the law and paying out billions of dollars' worth of food stamps, every year, to illegal aliens. Obama also spends millions of our tax dollars every year for Spanish-language ads to run in Mexico, informing people there that they can come to the U.S. and get "free" food stamps, and it doesn't matter if they're illegal aliens.

The only thing congress has done about it is send Obama a letter.

Also, the Obama IRS pays out billions every year in "tax credits" to illegal aliens -- even though it admits that many of the claimed credits are fraudulent. The House has passed a bill to stop the practice of paying tax credits to illegal aliens, but Harry Reid has kept the bill from ever being voted on in the Senate (and of course, Obama would probably veto it, even if it can pass the new Senate).

Also, the Obama HHS admits that it pays out billions of dollars a year in Medicare Part D prescription drug benefits to just a few thousand illegal aliens. We can't afford to provide minimal medical care to our sick veterans -- people who fought for our country and who we promised to compensate with medical care -- but we CAN afford to pay out billions of dollars a year in expensive prescription drug benefits to a few thousand foreign moochers living illegally in our country.

What is going on in this country is beyond sickening.

I'm all for Floriding just before Northern Spring. That way, you have a 50-50 of coming back to crocuses and tulips. Best-laid plans, the target of my visit will be in Hawaii by then, ah well. The prospect of a week or two of artificial summer followed by coming back to Da Lakes for west snowy Christmas shopping traffic is practically depressing. Not as bad as not going, mind you...

i've been using worlds best cat litter....i like it better than the clay based but.....i've come to the conclusion that all cat litters suck....& while i love my orange cat & his sister val.....they will be the last indoor cats we have......

Bought it after rave reviews from friends, have never regretted it. The special litter can be bought at Wal-Mart. The litter s a dessicant, absorbs the moisture, kills the smell, solid waste is concentrated in a sealed container. When full, dump the reusable tray, or use a new disposable one. After changing it a couple times, you'll have it mastered.

yep....i'm in the desert....so i can't have an outdoor cat ...i did put one out yrs ago & he didn't last very long & i still haven't forgiven myself for doing it...my cats are still relatively young....6 or 7 years...i'm just not replacing them when they go...they bring a great deal of daily joy until it's time to clean their litter box..... they are my older girls & she is away at school....so what was her "chore" is now "my chore" & i have enough of those to keep me busy as it is....

Last year, when Thanksgiving was at my parents', my cousin and I were shooting my dad's BB gun off the porch at targets across the street. (Wooded lot) My girls came out and thought it was the coolest thing ever. So I got to introduce my girls to their first firearm.

That day also resulted in the Thanksgiving Squirrel Incident, but that's a different story.

One of my not so bold predictions from 2008 was that if Obama was elected race relations in this country would take a huge step backwards. Everything Obama has done seems to have borne that out.

What I have been seriously shocked at is how much, as a white person, I'm truly hated by blacks. It never occurred to me before the election of King Putt. But by all accounts, it seems pretty true. I cook pretty hard making sure it's goor-may quality, plus, Pree-zentation.
