Considering all the fracking going on, the pipeline is almost not needed. But still, shove it down the Dems/Leftists throats.

I don't know whether the Chinese are involved other than as customers if/when there is more oil available. In other non-Keystone pipeline news, Northern Gateway to Kitimat has been approved with >200 conditions attached, Canada East is still in the planning stages and the re-reversal of Line 9 awaits approval. Do you want a real reason? 'Cause there isn't one. The rationalization the prog-tards use is the "disparate impact" theory re: the 14th Amendment. A higher percentage of minorities seeking welfare would be dq'd than the percentage of whites seeking welfare. So obviously any law requiring such testing would be in violation of "equal protection." Whether or not anyone *really* believes that, I don't know. But that's what they say. Posted by: AllenG (Dedicated Tenther) at home at November 12, 2014 02:56 PM (M1uf/) 97

The Dems approve Keystone to get Landrieu re-elected -- and then she loses anyway! It's a twofer for us. But seriously, Obama is enslaved to the Big Green lobby. The thing about the Keystone pipeline is this: Whether it's passed by a majority dem or repub congress, Baraka will veto it....or....if he does sign it, he knows that the "green mob" has already shopped out the federal judges that will instigate an endless series of civil and enviromental suits against it's construction.
Posted by: Soona And that;s a best-case scenario. He owes his soul to the enviro-lobby and their billionaire donors. No way can he approve Keystone. It's vetoes all the way down, baby. Didn't the Canucks already sign a contract with the Chinese to run a pipeline to Vancouver? Isn't Keystone a little too late?
Posted by: Diogenes at November 12, 2014 02:40 PM (08Znv) The Northern Gateway pipeline to Prince Rupert (for onward shipment to the Pacific Rim) is still in the approval process, and may never get built due to Indian and environmental opposition funded by the Tides Foundation. But there is now a proposal to pipeline diluted bitumen to tidewater at St. John, New Brunswick, on the east coast by way of existing pipelines to Montreal and onward via 350 miles of new pipeline through Quebec. That could be up and running inside of a year. India has already indicated that they will buy all the bitumen they can get, at world price, and it is actually a shorter ocean voyage to India from St. John, than it is from Prince Rupert. This eastern pipeline is close to being a done deal. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at November 12, 2014 02:58 PM (7MWCL) 114

Are you asking me to defend something I already called dumb? Basically, the claim is that since more minorities (predominately blacks) will be disqualified from welfare if drug testing becomes a requirement, then drug testing as a requirement for receiving welfare is racist. It's the exact same lack of logic that says if black kids can't pass a standardized test, it must be because of "subconscious racism" on the part of the authors, rather than possibly being because the black kids (in general) aren't terribly concerned about getting good grades. construction project if they can. Those are some difficult mountains they'd need to traverse, going west, and it's open prairie all the way south to connect up with the existing pipeline structures. Posted by: MTF at November 12, 2014 02:45 PM (LISuA) The terrain is not that difficult. There are already a railway and a highway running through that corridor. I have driven that road many times. They could lay the pipeline in either the highway right of way, or the rail right of way, or a combination of both, easy-peasy. 1) Getting a bill through the Senate isn't good enough, it has to become law to have a reasonable shot at saving her butt.

Obama will be off to Switzerland, Africa, Indonesia or one of a number of places where he thinks he might still be adored, and will bolster his chances to be the next coming of Kofi Annan. What few Dem friends he will have left will be in his administration and he will only appoint those who can really put the screws to the country and/or help him with his world conquest.
It's why the Dems have to ask MSNBC what is going on at the White House. It's why Chuck U Schumer is running after Landrieu, trying to get one or two more votes out of her for the Dems agenda before she is booted out of office. There is no more coordination out of the WH with the Dems, unless it is something mutually beneficial to the Administration and the Dems. Posted by: Jen at November 12, 2014 03:09 PM (hjTr7) 171

My feeling is that elections probably have no more consequences. Obama and his fellow travelers care not a whit about the Democratic Party so long as the Socialist counterrevolution continues unimpeded. They may lose an election - even historically, and yet the trajectory of the nation thanks to the bureaucracy, a corrupt judiciary and elected officials who make money off of it is always to the left. It might be slowed down a bit, it might even be somewhat halted. But it will NOT be reversed. If you want proof, look at McConnell's and Boehher's reactions to SCOAMF's deal with the Chi-Coms and even more their non-reaction to Gruber's remarks. Posted by: J.J. How this vote is going down:
- The Senate will vote on something different than what the House passed. - It goes to committee to die. - If for some reason it doesn't die in committee, the Senate vote on the conference bill takes place no earlier than November 26 so that Teh SCOAMT can sit on it until December 7 (yes, that is a Sunday, just like it was in 1941) and veto it after the runoff. "And worse, the earlier threats to businesses that were burned down: that when they rebuild, they'd better hire blacks!"
Even in places like ten-tenths liberal Portland, it's appearing that the race card is being declined as overlimit. There was a nasty weedy vacant lot up in northeast Portland which Trader Joe's was eying for a brand new store. Then the local race hustlers (NE Portland being home to most of the comparative handful of blacks in the metro) got into the game. They barraged Trader Joe's with demands for guaranteed percentages of black employment, and bars on criminal history investigations of applicants, and no workplace drug testing, and fat kickbacks of evil capitalist profits into "African-American community building", and on and on and on. Finally, Trader Joe's management just said, "Fine. We're done." And left. Just like that. Leaving the nasty weedy vacant lot just as it had been. With the race-hustler activists all suddenly realizing that they had killed the golden goose before it laid even one single egg. Of course they figured out whose fault it was. White devils! It only took Detroit 50 years to reach bottom after the 67 riots(remember, those occurred after a "blind pig" was raided in the middle of the night by police and 80 some black patrons were detained. Someone outside threw a bottle at police and it was on. No one was shot or killed prior to the riot starting, it was simply arrests because there was a curfew in place and the blind pig was in violation.) The residents destroyed blocks and blocks of Detroit and whites fled in droves, taking their businesses, and money with them. You all know what Detroit became. It has taken bankruptcy(which the city was just approved via the court to exit) and who is funding a lot of the repair? Yep, you guessed it, private businesses, foundations, etc. many of which are owned and funded via the evil white racist man. The grand bargain negotiated between the city, state, pensioners and bond holders has been approved. The DIA will keep all it's pricey art because a bunch of wealthy patrons have agreed to fork out money to help the city . The bondholders insurers are going to get hammered in the deal, since they will not get as much of a percent as the pensioned retirees are getting. As an aside, I have to seriously question why anyone would buy municipal bonds in today's environment. They appear to be the least secure of any kind of investment, even though they were supposed to be paid first in the event of insolvency. But Obama's DOJ seems to have taken care of that. Also, not the protection for illegal "children" already extends to be 31. DRUDGE REPORT @DRUDGE_REPORT 9m Progressives Push President to Shield 7 Million Illegals... http://drudge.tw/1sEWkPY About four million undocumented immigrants could be shielded from deportations if Obama extended his executive action to parents or spouses of U.S. citizens, green card holders, and young immigrants whose deportations have been deferred under a 2012 Obama program. An additional 3 million could come with various changes to that 2012 directive, called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, that would broaden the number of immigrants eligible for that program. One example is getting rid of age limits under DACA -- to qualify, an immigrant must have been younger than 31 as of June 15, 2012 under current requirements. Parts of NE Portland are trendy, like the Mississippi district. Of course, they bitch about that too. Word is that the folks that actually lived in that neighborhood were upset about the Trader Joes canceling. They wanted the jobs.

Posted by: Soona at November 12, 2014 04:16 PM (zi2gL) ********************************** Late to this thread, but SCOTUS rules allow exhibits/attachments with whatever material the party believes would be useful to the Court in order to understand briefs/issues. I'd think that would entail at least a transcript of the videos, and considering that in this day and age many attorneys are attaching CDs with exhibits, perhaps the actual video as well. Mary Landrieu's been all over twitter asking #WhereWasBill? Well, #WhereWasMary alllllll this time when Reid was blocking Keystone?
