Random Saturday Morning Gripe

I hate it when people say "a scissor" as in "hand me a scissor". It's a pair of scissors, dammit.

UPDATE: Oh, this reminds me that I heard a curious expression last week: to raise sand, as in "When I heard what bad things the company was doing, I went to the shareholders' meeting and raised sand."

Anybody else ever heard of this before?

1 You probably don't like it when people talk about how that's a "nice straight let pant". Pant? Seriously? They're pants.

With you the scissor thing though.

2 But why is it a pair of underwear as opposed to just underwear???

3 Only place I've heard "Raising Sand" is the title of the boring Robert Plant/Alison Krauss album.

4 I've heard of "pound sand".

5 Ditto on the scissors thing. And the pants thing. And the underwear thing.

I've heard of and used pound sand. Never heard of raising sand.

6 I've heard the expression "raise sand" before, but have no clue where. Urban dictionary defines it as "when a person has a hissy fit." Maybe Austrailian or something?

7 You musta didn't grow up in the South Mr. Robbo. We raise sand all the time. You know like when a dog is angry and kicking his back feet ready to get cha? Raise sand!
