This is the NYT so prepare yourself for some grumbling.
In the same election that brought strong showings for Democratic candidates around the country, voters in three states chose to bar transgender athletes from competing on female sports teams.
The results, including in at least one state where Democrats are dominant, suggested that many voters do not view accommodations for trans athletes as part of a broad Democratic agenda. The results also appeared likely to inspire similar campaigns in future elections on an issue that has rarely been tested at the ballot box.
Since 2020, lawmakers in Republican-led states across the country have enacted laws limiting how transgender people can participate in public life. But this election was the first time voters were asked to consider new restrictions through statewide ballot measures, and they approved many of them. The margins were large in Arizona and Nebraska, and narrower in Washington, where Democrats dominate. In Colorado, votes were still being counted on Thursday in a ballot measure over the same issue.
Supporters of the initiatives said they hoped the sports issue would be put directly to voters in other Democrat-led states. The results could also mean that decisions around broader rights for transgender people will be put before voters, political strategists said.
"To every female athlete who wondered whether her voice mattered: tonight, Washington heard you,'' Brian Heywood, the Seattle-area hedge fund founder who financed the Washington initiative, said in a statement.
For supporters of the restrictions, the results felt like vindication.
Polls have shown that a solid majority of Americans, including roughly half of Democrats, think that transgender girls and women should not play on girls' and women's sports teams. Many believe that trans athletes hold a physical edge, and that their participation prevents others from having a fair chance to win, the polls indicate.
Over the past six years, 27 states enacted laws restricting the participation of transgender students in sports starting in kindergarten or middle school, extending in many cases to college. The Supreme Court upheld such laws last June.
But in nearly two dozen Democrat-led states, including Colorado and Washington, legislatures have taken no such action. That is why Erin Lee, executive director of Protect Kids Colorado, a parent advocacy group sponsoring the initiative, wanted to put the question on the ballot in Colorado.
By Thursday afternoon, with more than 80 percent of ballots counted, the vote in Colorado on a ban on trans athletes in girls sports was close, with about 53 percent of voters favoring the measure. A second Colorado ballot measure that would ban gender-transition-related surgeries for minors, was also close, with 52 percent of voters in favor as the vote counting continued.
"My hope is that we can be the example of a blue state where your legislature is not following the will of the people," she said. "Where we, the people, can do it ourselves, and hopefully encourage others to follow suit."
Well, that didn't take long. Less than 24-hours after Colorado elected a new Democrat governor, he's already suggesting he wants to thumb his nose at the voters who passed several ballot initiatives progressives don't like.
...
[Incoming Democrat governor] Weiser said today that these initiatives will need a long, hard look once he takes office.
Prop 134 would bar young transgender athletes from participating on K-12 or collegiate sports teams that match their gender identities. And Prop 135 would bar people under 18 from receiving gender-affirming surgeries...
Weiser, who was elected Tuesday by a wide margin in the governor's race, said officials would need to work "to understand the will of the voters."
In other words, he tends to carefully scan the very clear statement of the people to conjure up ambiguities, and then claim those invented ambiguities render the people's judgement completely void.
"It's important that we recognize that sometimes, something is passed and it is incomplete. It is not administrable," Weiser said during a post-election news conference Wednesday at the Capitol in Denver. "... Anytime you have a ballot measure that is statutory, it is a natural and, I believe, appropriate role for the legislature to say, 'What are the adjustments that need to be added?' "
For the proposal to bar young people from playing on sports teams that don't match their biological sex, for example, Weiser said: "I don't believe it would be acceptable to Colorado to have every student athlete to have to go through full-body examinations or other invasions of privacy."
This is the standard lie pushed by Trans Extremists -- that there's no way we could possibly tell who is really a girl and who is really a boy unless we "force girls to drop their pants in front of state genital inspectors."
Except... there are paper records of children's sexes. Even if a student "really believes he's a girl," doctors still have to know if he's more likely to suffer from testicular cancer or ovarian cancer.
Or does cancer Respecc the Pronouns of Its Victims?
And, of course: The notion that transgenders' real sex cannot be determined by simply looking at them or hearing their voices is preposterous cope.
Below: Leftists complain about "girls having to show their genitals" and trans extremists whine about being "betrayed" by their leftwing allies.
America has elected a slew of local, state and federal officials more left-wing than ever before.
Jeffries's own caucus now contains at least eight members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) -- an increase from two during the previous term. Among them is a woman who advocated for 'a world without prisons or police' and demanded the US 'literally, abolish the border.'
His colleague in the Senate -- fellow Brooklynite Chuck Schumer, the next Senate Majority Leader -- will have to contend with Abdul El-Sayed in his ranks, arguably among the most far-left Senators ever elected. And he almost had a fully-fledged member of the DSA by his side: Angie Nixon narrowly lost her Florida Senate race.
It is all music to Ashik Siddique's ears.
Siddique, the co-chair of the DSA's national political committee, told the Daily Mail that Tuesday's vote was just the beginning for his party. He pointed to the triumph of his rainbow-headed comrade Ashley Herrmann, 38, who even flipped a Republican-held state senate seat near Tampa, Florida.
'These results are not a flash in the pan,' he said, noting that DSA membership has surged from 6,000 in 2016 to 130,000 today. 'Democratic Socialists of America are building an enduring organization that can lead an enduring movement.
'We're now seeing DSA candidates win re-election to second or third terms across the country. We ran more candidates in this cycle than ever before. I think there were at least 200 candidates at many levels of government, from local up to Congress. So we're really leading the conversation and helping to shift public opinion on a wide range of issues.'
Siddique said that the DSA was pushing policies leftwards -- noting that on the eve of the election, even Donald Trump was discussing ending military aid to Israel.
'Nobody thought 10 years ago that abolishing ICE was a popular sentiment when we were saying it, but now it has popular support,' he said. 'When we said 'Free Palestine,' that was not a popular sentiment among Americans 10 years ago, but now it is, and majorities of Americans across parties support a full arms embargo against the state of Israel.'
DSA candidates largely ran on affordable housing, Medicare for All, childcare for all, moratoriums on AI data centers and abolishing ICE, Siddique said.
'These are very popular things, and when you look at the range of issues our candidates ran on, it's clear that we've been driving the conversation and the direction of the political left more broadly,' he added.
But what will happen when his candidates walk into the chamber in January and come face to face with the establishment? Is there a civil war brewing?
Siddique chuckled.
I don't know if there'll be a civil war. The Democrat Party is made up of two factions. No, not socialists and moderates. It's made up of Go-Slow Communists and Go-Fast Communists.
But they're all communists. They all know where they want to go. They just have different opinions on how hard they can charge to get there.
With the DSA temporarily holding the whip-hand, and proving that, at least for this moment, the public won't punish the Go-Fast Communists, the Go-Slow Communists will all fall in line and support the Go-Fast Communists. With reservations, but support them they will.
But we know it’s all moot. A “judge” will quickly strike it down.

In 2010 - people forget this happened but it did - Illinois elected a Republican, Mark Kirk, to the senate. He won 47-46. The governors race was also 47-46 but for the Dem.
A roughly 25% swing for both races in 2 short years.
Also in 2010 if you recall Scot Brown was elected in Massachusetts in the special election. He won by 5. That was only 13 months after Obama won Mass by 36.

I'll say it again, race, ethnic, religious and cultural differences are all intraspecies variations.
This is not a general endorsement of taxonomy, but just a use of it as a model of category, but sexual differences on the same scale are supra-family, and supra-kingdom.
Sexual differences are something we owe for everybody than can participate in the discussion.
Pretending that "discrimination on the basis of [intraspecies differences--mere "accidents" of geography, mostly]" and "discrimination on the basis of an OBVIOUS FUNCTIONAL and PHYSICAL DIFFERENCE" are the "same thing" is a sign of our slide into Intentional Cretinism.

In 2010 - people forget this happened but it did - Illinois elected a Republican, Mark Kirk, to the senate. He won 47-46. The governors race was also 47-46 but for the Dem.
A roughly 25% swing for both races in 2 short years.

A "democracy" implies a country or government structure to read in the people's votes.
Socialism + nation = fascism. You can add on the intentionality of "internationalism", but until internationalism is made manifest it is simply aspirational Marxism using the elements of fascism.
However the thing that makes fascism the ideology of fascism and not nearly a functional fascist-equivalent is the comfort with the inevitability of a government structure and a repurposing of the government toward "The Greatest Good" as the peoplegovernmentconstrue it.
No communism, outside of the Khmer Rouge ever involved anything like "communes" (where they shot you, anyway). That's what a "rush to communism" would look like: we're going to take you all out into the woods and force you into farming communes, because the other indolent forms have procrastinated on that.
The goal of the pre-stage of communism is to remake man to live in free communes.

Zerohedge. Yeah. Just avoid the comment section.
The backlash against data centers across the West is particularly troubling given the Trump administration's plans to expand the US power grid, rebuild the industrial base, and accelerate economic growth to escape the country's debt trap. Yet the Democrats in the US, who have joined forces with socialists and socialist reformists, are attempting to derail the buildout and pop the investment cycle.
In Amsterdam, far-left activists had their list of causes, protesting both the environmental cost of data centers and Microsoft's ties to Israel. That raises a broader question: Who stands to benefit if the West fails to build data centers and power plants it needs to revitalize a hallowed-out industrial base?

While everyone in Minnesota is still talking about the statewide races, look at who just flipped House District 14A in St. Cloud by 593 votes...
Abdi Daisane (DFL) won 9,163 to 8,570.
He owns Blooming Kids Child Care Center, which has collected over $7.29 Million in Taxpayer CCAP childcare subsidies since 2018,(plus another ~$598k in food program claims through Partners in Nutrition)
And the State has hit it with 16 DHS licensing violations since July 2024...unsupervised kids, infant sleep safety failures, prohibited discipline, unclean space, and a background study fine.
To be clear,(no criminal charges against him)...this is all LEGAL subsidy money and the State's own inspection reports.
Now he heads to St. Paul to vote on the budgets and oversight rules for the EXACT system paying his business.
What are we even doing here?

Email I got from Kevin Kiley announcing his loss. He's right - if Prop 50 hadn't passed, he would have won.
----------
I’m proud of the race we ran. We had to fight back, and we did, harder than anyone expected, forcing our opponents to pull out all the stops in the final weeks. The support you provided every step of the way was nothing short of amazing and gave us a chance to defy the odds.
And we decisively won the areas I currently represent, those that are part of both the old and new district. Extrapolating those results, if there were no Prop. 50 we would likely have won and been the only non-Democrat in the country elected in a district that competitive.
I suppose it would be natural to feel bitterness about all of this. And if I’m being honest, I do to some extent. But mainly, what I feel is gratitude.

There are numerous different election machines our so I’m not exactly sure how they all work, but I assume many, if not most, have an option to vote a straight ticket for a party.
If a voter only votes straight ticket on a machine then I also have to assume ballot questions and referendum will not be automatically selected as there is no party involved.
So it stands to reason you will get a lot of ballots with those parts blank because the voter voted straight ticket and then skipped the rest of the ballot.

I was at my former local haunt during the Texas/OU football game a couple weeks ago. The layout for the restrooms is a little odd, so dudes are occasionally heading towards the ladies rooms (there are 2 separate rooms with one seat each) instead of turning short and going into the men's.
One dude headed towards the ladies and I attempted to get their attention. I wasn't able to. When they came out, I pointed at the door and said "Men's room."
"I'M NOT A MAN!!!!"
"Woah......I'm sorry."
It went back to it's table and commenced to pissing about me calling her a man. The First Lady ended up interjecting their piss fest and said "It was an HONEST MISTAKE. He apologized. It's done!"
The 'lady' dressed, walked and presented 'herself' as a 16 year old boy with the dress, walk and almost flattop hair.

I once got into a friendly argument with a very athletic girl in the prime of her life. I'm considerably older than her.
She finally says "so you think if I got you in an arm lock, you could get free?" I said I'm sure I could.
So we test the theory. I gave her my arm to "lock" it. Ready? 1, 2, 3 ... and I pull free so easily it shocks her. We do it again, this time she's holding harder. Same result.
Then she proposes a headlock. Sure, why not. I think you know how this turns out. I twice easily escape. She's genuinely surprised. She really thought that her strength was comparable to mine.

Neither should have to with DNA testing as widespread and easy go do today.
But the reason they are not mentioning boys is because this was about girl’s sports and there are very few female to male transgenders trying out for the boy’s teams because they are crazy, not stupid.

I'm not calling anyone any pronoun other than what I think they are. The pronoun crap was the start of this nonsense.
---
Sexed pronouns exist not because we have endless "second names", but it seemed a minimal accommodation for the way that people wanted their sex acknowledged.
"Personal pronouns" is stupid. You share your sexed pronouns with ~4 billion people.
That ain't in no way "personal". It simply recognizes a difference society chose to recognize.
Nobody decided "I want my wealth recognized in pronouns" to get richhim/richher pronouns.
Second-name to remember, "personal pronouns" is not how pronoun references aren't meant to work.
They are shorthands.
That's my functional objection.

This election was not a moratorium on social issues, or the trans kids in sports bills would have swept in blue states. It's not a moratorium on open borders are ok, because several states passed voter ID laws.
It was an election about refuting forever wars, or the ones they look to be like Iran and Ukraine. It was about our politicians (even Trump) not listening to their base, and hugely on economic issues.
But the dems are going to push for the social issues and open borders and health care. The old bugaboos. I wish them well in their folly and hope they achieve none of it, while getting slapped down by voters swinging back to the right in 2028.

One of the biggest illustrations I saw of the difference between males and females came from a guy who looks like an 80-pound weakling.
I don't know who remembers "Not-gay Gerald" from Stephen Crowder's first gang, but when they were on CRTV with a stocky, athletic karate-practicing young lady named Courtney.
There is little doubt that she outweighed NGG. Crowder wanted to illustrate sex differences by having Courtney and NGG trade karate kicks (through a kick pad!).
NGG did not look like he worked out much. But every kick NGG delivered to Courtney required her at least a couple steps back, and she could barely get this guy who she outweighed to rock back on his heels.
And they traded several kicks. He could stagger her, and I think he took one step back through several of her strongest kicks.

Except that it appears one kind of "swing" voter, some Hispanics, in fact do swing for specific reasons. Still stupid, and feellzzz, but specific. Immigration enforcement.
If the administration kicks off the long overdue effort to end the employment magnet (go after employers), continues its criminal deportations, and continues to squeeze from every side (welfare eligibility, etc), 2 more years might have some lasting impact. Deterring intending invaders via results is critical, and that relies on results.

I think "over-reach" and paying a price therefor is mostly an outdated concept. Dems are simply the default party in power, their voting base has become utterly indifferent to policies or results, just a mix of robotic tribal voting, bigotries, resentments, deluded hate paroxysms, envy, etc.
Here and there an insanely radical move may be punished, but with zero effect on robotic Dem voter behavior in the future, in general.

Tom Servo had a valuable anecdote about established Mexican-American businessmen of his acquaintance who of course were appalled by all the bizarre social/cultural crap of the Dems very much were upset by "the fear" in their "communities" over immigration enforcement.
Doesn't matter now of course. Only option is to plow ahead and hope for a miracle in '28.

Turns out Latinos wanted the border closed and massive deportations when they voted in 2024, but they actually meant they wanted to deport everybody who isn’t Latino, because things suddenly got real when ICE deported their cousin’s friend and his girlfriend when they pulled him over for drunk driving one night.

@290...how many of these hispanic voters are here illegally?
I wanted everyone deported, even if here 30yrs and not a US citizen who can speak, read and write English and pass a citizenship test.
I'm a purist since my people have been here since the early 1700's. Poor and wealthy immigrants who became US citizens and learned English and fought in all wars and became AMERICANS.
If Abuela is speaking espanol in the grocery store, thinking in code when I can understand most of it, or trying to irritate me (she succeeds as I want to yell at her to speak English)...I figure she's not here legally. I could be wrong.
When I am in France I spoke and read enough French to get by vs being freaking rude as an American tourist. Now I reckon I'd have to learn Farsi.
I now hope, since the soft touch didn't work, we round 'em up and ship them off in cargo planes to which ever country would take them. I don't care!!!
I'd hoped the $3k to self deport would work. Then the fekin' mid terms will embolden their sorry arses.
Off to cook and make potato voodoo dolls...nah. I only did this once watching a college basketball game. It worked!!!

In his book The Outline of History, H.G. Wells theorized that the reason the Roman Empire fell was the Romans didn't care enough to keep it going.
Same as it ever was.

I learned that H G Wells was a woman. Learned that from Warehouse 13.

325 BREAKING: California voters just passed Prop 37. Buyers of newly built homes can now put down 3% instead of 20%.
How: the state lends you the other 17% as a second mortgage, funded by up to $25 billion in bonds.

We got rid of the illegals. What's weird is. It pissed off the legal Hispanics. You know, the ones losing jobs to the illegals.

327I'm not sure I believe the explanation fully. This was the "issue" (feeling) that got Trump elected.
I don't buy that. In 2024 there was significant data about Hispanic counties in Texas going hard for Trump because they didn't want illegals driving down their salaries and competing for housing. I don't think Latinos all became cucks in 2 years.
Also, the methodology probably matters. The claim that 65% of Jews loved El-Sayid eventually drilled down to "one poll of 35 likely voters" or something of that nature.
