Saturday Night Club ONT - November 7, 2026 [Disco & Dino]

club-fall-beer.jpg

Welcome to Club ONT - a whelming collaboration of The Disco and The Dino.

Open thread - bar is open, too. Come in in, grab a drink or 2. Or 3. Keep it light and friendly. The Moose is outside enjoying the crisp fall weather but always ready for action.

Saturday Night Jokes and Other Funnies

Two ladies were walking home from the bar, they had to pee and cut through the cemetery to save time, but couldn’t hold it. One used her panties to wipe, the other grabbed a ribbon of a nearby wreath.

The next morning their husbands were talking in the yard.

One says “I think my wife is having an affair. She came home last night and her panties were missing.”

The other man says “That’s nothing. My wife had a ribbon taped to her ass that read from the men at fire house 9, we’ll never forget you!”

-----

A woman was convinced her husband was having an affair with the maid, so she decided to set a trap.

One evening, she suddenly sent the maid home for the weekend without telling her husband.

That night, after they went to bed, her husband gave his usual excuse.

“Excuse me, dear. My stomach is bothering me,” he said before heading to the bathroom.

The wife immediately got out of bed and slipped into the maid’s bed. She turned off the lights and waited.

When her husband returned, he quietly climbed into bed and wasted no time. He had his way with her without saying a word.

When he finished and was still catching his breath, the wife said, “You didn’t expect to find me in this bed, did you?”

She then switched on the light.

“No, ma’am,” replied the gardener.

Club ONT Department of Geography

Fun facts:

1) Cleveland, Ohio is only two miles further west than Jacksonville, Florida.

2) Most of South America (especially Brazil and the eastern half of the continent) is east of the entire US East Coast. The extreme western edge of South America (Peru) aligns with Jacksonville, Florida.

1172026-SouthAmerica.jpg

3) All of Florida is south of California. Florida's northernmost point is roughly 100 miles south of California's southern border.

4) The long western stretch of the Canada-U.S. border follows the 49th parallel. The Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport actually lies almost exactly on the 49th parallel. In other words, every part of Europe north of Paris is further north than any part of the US mainland.

5) Calgary is only 32 miles south of London. All of Ireland is north of Calgary.

6) Both Los Angeles and San Diego, California are further east than Reno, Nevada.

7) Rome, Italy is the same latitude as Chicago, Illinois.

Club ONT Department of Customer Service

Club ONT is considering installing advertising screens at each sink to enhance the Club's financial position. It is possible that you may not otherwise receive advertising while you wash your hands, so new advertising screens will fill that space. Heaven forbid that you have a moment to yourself without commercial stimulus. The good news is that you can purchase advertising time to ensure your message gets to the (clean handed) Moron Horde. Please contact the Club ONT management for a rate card. Special introductory rates may be available.

3 Willowed: Believe Patrick McGoohan was an early choice for Bond but he turned it down.

Damn shame -- he'd have been terrific. Can't see him doing all the quips, though; he'd have played it more serious.

He was offered the role, partly because of his turn as John Drake in the Secret Agent/Danger Man series that preceded the first Bond film. But Patrick objected to Bond's womanizing.

Yes, it's amazing just how far east South America is. My Southern latitude equivalent along my meridian is in the Pacific.

And indeed, just how far north London and the UK is amazing. That's the Gulf stream current at work.

There's a story that Patrick McGoohan (4x Columbo murderer) was offered the role of Columbo in the late '70s to replace Peter Falk. McGoohan was offended, told them to go F themselves, as there is only one Columbo. Period. Amen.

Brazil's northernmost point is closer to every single country in the Americas (including the United States and Canada) than it is to Brazil's own southernmost point.

And its easternmost point is closer to Africa than to its westernmost point.

Today was the 4th cross-quarter day, the halfway point between the fall equinox and the winter solstice. The "solar season" scheme would mark this the start of winter. This centers the seasons on the equinoxes and solstices, and is the best for counting insolation.

"Pizza Rat is an Internet meme based around a viral video of a brown rat carrying a slice of pizza down the steps of a New York City Subway station in Manhattan. The video was first uploaded to Instagram on September 21, 2015, and a copy was uploaded to YouTube later. As of September 2023, the YouTube video had more than 12.35 million views."

Another long, hard day. Worked as a steward at today's show from 8:00 to 2:00. Came home, ran the dogs out, went to Mass, came home, had something to eat and fell asleep in my armchair.

The judge was very complimentary about my work and said I'd been a big help. Meanwhile, in another ring, Her Majesty, who was stewarding in another ring, was sharply rebuked by the judge for pointing out that someone was ineligible to compete in that class. Of course, HM turned out to be absolutely correct.

35 In late hobby news, the watch I ordered from Michigan arrived! And it is beautiful. Or it would be -- if it had the right dial. Everything else matches, but the dial is not the one I wanted and thought I'd chosen. And the watch was running after 48 hours in transit, which I think even a fully-wound handwinding watch would not be.

I think the company in Germany mistakenly put an auto model with this dial into a box intended for the handwinder I wanted, and the Michigan shop didn't know. Well, I'll get in touch with them on Monday about an exchange.

Stumbled out of clubs at 0300, ate coin flip who knows what vendor food, got back to the base by about 0430 and it was starting to bet bright again. 55 Evening, D&D, and the ONT Horde!

It was a beautiful Indian Summer day here, so I loaded the big Generac generator and the big zero-steer mower on the car trailer, strapped them down, threw buddy's ancient Browning Auto-5 in the back of the 'burb, and drove 60 miles to deliver all three. Temp got up to 55F here. Sweltering, for November. Had a good drive, no snags at all. Gassed up for $1.32 per liter (down bigly from last week), went on into Calgary to buy a couple of sale items at Princess Auto, and then wended my way home.

Anyway, that's three chores off the to-do list.

The lyrics for VV's song are different from Carey's, though they express the same basic ideas.

83 The signs for the blowout were there. But much of the right refused to pay attention.

Last year NJ and VA swung left by 15 vs 2021. There were a couple of Texas state reps races that went Dem which had been GOP for decades. There was that TN special election which went +30 gop in 2024 and only was won +9 earlier this year. Another couple of special elections in Florida with similar massive swings to Demo days.

Each of these things were dismissed as no big deal. Turns out it was one of a big deal after all.

Not to mention how virtually every single poll showed 30-35% support for the Iran war.

But we’ll ignore all that and claim fraud in every state and every county? Come on.

Brand new, a Laco. Apparently Laco, founded 101 years ago, was one of the companies that supplied pilot watches to the Luftwaffe, and they still make models with the same look and feel.

The Michigan shop's website, and that of Laco, show the model I ordered as having the dial I wanted -- not the one that showed up. The box and even the instruction manual indicate it was the model I ordered. But the watch has a Type A dial (numbers and hands only), not the Type B with an inner time ring. Somebody scroooed up, and it wasn't me.

I would very much like to have someone call 100 to 1000 Trump voters in one of these 15% blue swing states who don't often vote in mid-term elections but voted in this election and poll them on "who did you vote for and why". I have no evidence but I'm positive the Dems turn in lots of ballots that are ostensibly from people who did not vote. Probably the only hope to diminish that kind of cheating is to convince AWFLs that some future NAZI is going to check how they have voted in the past with mail-in, drop-box, ballots so we should return to in-person voting.

Cities with rat-infested subways need to hire teams of rat hunters to patrol the subways. Give them AR-15 type carbines chambered in 9 mm, and use cartridges loaded with snake shot. They could have little electric scooters fitted with wheels that would ride a rail, and of course would have wearable radios to alert them of approaching trains. Fit the guns with night-vision gear.

Why? Because unless you're Mariah Carey, you can't sing to it. A good Christmas song must be one that any group of people can sing and it still sounds good. George Michael's Last Christmas is almost as bad. The problem with that song is that there's one verse that just keeps repeating itself over and over. Oh, and George Michael was a great singer himself, and you can't sing that song as a group - just a solo. And no average solo singer can match George.

They're still counting in Alaska and the Donk looks like she is going to win, the Cali GOP congressional delegation has been wiped out, and all over the country, if the vote totals are to be believed, the country has now shifted socialist.

Serling himself wrote that one. As he did quite a few of the show's classics . . . and its stinkers. Fortunately he had writers like George Clayton Johnson and Richard Matheson he could rely on, and the show adapted written short stories by those guys and others as well. The magazine market was waning even then, but in the late '50s and early '60s a prolific author could still make a living writing and selling short fiction; and if he sold a short to TV or a novel to the movies, he was really doing well. (Or a novel to TV -- John D. MacDonald did it at least once, with a novel of his being adapted to the Run For Your Life series.)

The TV shows and movies profited as well.

I know you can still cheat with paper ballots, but at least you have to be willing to burn a church to the ground (LBJ, first election to the senate, had just enough people vote for him to put him over his opponent, and the voters were kind enough to line up to vote in alphabetical order, to boot! Seemed a little odd on election night, so they locked the ballots up in the local church to re-examine in the morning. Quite a shame that little old church burned to ashes overnight with the ballots, too! Hello, Senator Johnson! ).

Between 2022 and 2004 2.9 million people registered to vote in Texas. In those same years over 20 million people registered to vote in states that don't require proof of citizenship.

DataRepublican recently put out a piece detailng a billion, with a bi, dollar campaign run by NGOs to get out the vote for Democrats.

I've suggested before, that Musk ought to simply buy Cuba. Simply buy out/pay off the present Communist nomenklatura to retire to some remote country and live a life of quiet luxury, after handing off control of the country to a Politburo of Musk's appointees. The people there are used to having no say in things; why would they complain, especially if the economy got stronger, and they got jobs, and food, and electricity, and gasoline again? Eventually write a Constitution, and hold a plebiscite to ratify it, and let Cuba become a proper country, say after 20 years of being Elon's satrapy.

It just might work.

Joe Something-ello who played Eugen Sledge in The Pacific has a great interview at that site (on UToob). Guy seems very squared away. Had grandfather in the war. Felt great responsibility to the legacy of the guys portrayed. I was impressed. Indeed not all actors are mindless idiots.

Up here, if you plant baby trees, you put a frame up with chicken wire, from about 3 feet to about 6 feet, around it to keep the moose away from it. When my son was small, he asked grandpa why he had such high fences, and of course grandpa told him they had giant rabbits. Talk about a freaked out kid!

The moose this year have cleaned out my raspberries, which is fine, because I cut them down to the ground in the spring and they still grow seven feet tall. Got a mama and her twin yearlings, who behave just like teenagers. She often has to come get them to move on, and the kinda argue with them.

Just today was talking with a buddy about the baffling Dem vote increase (40%) since last mid-term. Has to be a multiple of the all-time record increase. How TF does that happen? JackStraw thanks for that tidbit - we were pondering how the GOP, that had oodles of $$ while the Dems were low-cash this cycle, could produce a tiny fraction of the Dems' turnout. NGOs could help explain it.

Though I still find a 40% delta on votes cast almost impossible to believe. I know something about elections and voting macro data and that kind of increase (or decrease) basically is unheard of in any circumstance.

214 >>Though I still find a 40% delta on votes cast almost impossible to believe. I know something about elections and voting macro data and that kind of increase (or decrease) basically is unheard of in any circumstance.

We do a lot of ra ra stuff around elections and just assume our people will turn out to vote. Democrats don't do that. They organize, learn the laws and how they can exploit them to their benefit and have a ton of money behind them to make it happen.

We get a guy like Scott Presler and think we have it covered. The left has an army of Scott Preslers and a ton of money behind them. Gutting USAID was a big win for us but there are dozens of other foundations, billionaires and foreign sources of money being poured into the NGOs that are still going strong. And they are funding the Democrat turn out machine because Democrats in office send the money back to them.

We are a bunch of amateurs going up against pros. We better get that figured out cause they are playing a completely different game.

215 Everyone is saying a shift as big as this week has never happened.

But it has. 2008 Obama wins VA by 6. In 2009 a Republican wins the VA governor by 20. Obama won NJ by 16, in 2009 Chris Christie won the NJ governor race.

Obama wins Illinois by 25 in 2008 a Republican wins the senate race in Illinois in 2010. Scott Brown won in Mass in early 2010, barely a year after Obama won Mass by 30.

This stuff does happen.

I had several Dems show up at my door on behalf of their people running. Not a single Republican door knocker. Granted it’s a “safe” Republican seat. But Texas was too, until it wasn’t.

The left will fight to win in the deepest of red areas because they play the long game. It took 30 years to turn Texas blue.

Interesting.

I've thought about writing a story where some group of hotshot teens get involved with criminal goings on and all get killed because they're not as smart as the criminal gang is. You know, an anti-Hardy Boys or something, but society wouldn't allow a story like that to be written.

2009 and 2010 was full of these examples. 2010 was a massive GOP year where republicans won in all sorts of places they don’t normally win. IIRC 900 state house/senate seats flipped that year, many of them hadn’t been Republican for decades if ever.

That’s what a wave election is like.

We could start by addressing the obvious, and holding EVERY single one who signed on to the obvious accountable:

* WHY did we not pass the SAVE Act? We had the numbers, we just had a handful of very powerful REPUBLICANS that jerked off at night to fighting Trump. Thune should be forced to caucus with the democrats. We don't need "Republicans" like that literal SELL-OUT.

* WHY did the REPUBLICAN senate never recess? IF they had for even a single day, Trump could have put dozens of Federal judges in place that we'd all like to have.

EVERY SINGLE "Republican" Senator who gavelled even a single "nobody's here" session should be asked point-blank "Why didn't you let the Senate go into recess so President Trump could appoint Federal judges?".

2020 verified China printed 200,000 US vote acceptable IDs.
As of 2025 there are 600,000 'undocumented aliens' in Harris County (Houston), now do Dallas County, Bexar County and all of those border counties. - Then do the anomalous rest of the US.

It's not math.

228 Here’s what I remember from “Let My People Go”: the cheat doesn’t have to be local. The voting machines are hooked up to the internet, despite assertions to the contrary, and the vote can be manipulated remotely as the election is going on. Really, check out the link -

Mind you, the movie is presented in full and is quite long.

229 Other than Fetterman there are no DINOs. Even Fetterman isn’t really one he still votes with the Dems 95%.

We always have 3-5 “Republicans” who are effectively Democrats. Our side is never really a majority, Dems always control the senate.

Posted by: Sandy Cocazio Ortez at November 07, 2026 11:48 PM (qWvvZ)

230 Dems always cheat. Of course.

But are we really now saying 100 rural Texas counties that all shifted left were also in on the steal? Because that’s what the accusation is.

231 I remember the truck loads of pre-voted ballots pulling up in Baltimore, I think, at 2 in the morning, back in 2020. Apparently printed in China, with the votes already on them.

232 Great day in the North Woods. 8 of us in camp. Saw 49 deer today as a group. 1 caterpillar got a concussion. It made the mistake of walking across SiL's hand. Niece had a squirrel run through her stand - twice. She was not pleased. Nor was the squirrel. A fork buck walked by my nephew, lifted it's tail, and farted - now known as the Gassy Fork. Brisket for dinner and washed down with adult beverages.

235 The cheat doesn’t have to be local! The electronic voting machines are hooked up to the internet! See my note and link at 228.

236 >>But are we really now saying 100 rural Texas counties that all shifted left were also in on the steal? Because that’s what the accusation is.

Stop focusing on things like voting machines and corrupt election officials. They absolutely exist in some areas but obviously not in all.

Again, Texas registered nearly 3 million new voters between 2022 and 2024. And none of them were required to prove citizenship. Texas has something like 5 million illegals, probably more. Illegals are not eligible to vote. But they do and it's fraud.

Fraud comes in many forms not just electronic voting machines. There's a well financed army of NGOs that aren't reported on dedicated to making this stuff happen.

Unless of course you think Talarico and Hinojosa truly represent Texas voters and people are just so angry over a temporary spike in gas prices they voted for people who want the worst for them.

Posted by: JackStraw at November 07, 2026 11:59 PM (viF8m)

237 The VA/NJ/MA (remember Scott Brown) examples really aren't comparable, as they're off-year elections (not even years).

2010 was indeed an earthquake, down even to county level. But had nothing resembling this week for the Senate. 1980 probably was comparable for the Senate. And indeed 1980 had every reason to be a giant wave election, national circumstances were as bad as they've been since WWII.

Today? Middling positive, overall, slowly improving economy with select items (crime, border) *massively* improved over just 2 years ago. Nothing resembling 1980.

Anyway, I don't think a 40% increase in votes has been seen before. In prez cycles, an ambitious goal is to boost your vote by 5% (was involved in one such). 40%? Seems insane. Haven't bothered to check, but assume some election geeks will be laying out all the relevant context and details soon.
