Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | AoSHQ Weekly Prayer ListPlease submit any prayer requests to “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update. Prayer Requests: 9/18 – Random Dave posted an update to his job progress. He is still looking for FT work, but has accepted a substitute teacher position (more flexibility for interviews, some income to slow the bleeding). He asks for prayers that the interview results he is waiting on will get back to him soon, especially if one is the “right job”. If any are “not the right job”, they would fall away soon and get back to him, and that if all of them are “not the right job”, the ‘right job” would show itself aggressively, so he doesn’t miss it! He also thanks the Horde and the folks at church for their prayers and support. 8/14 Update – Random Dave needs continued prayers for his job situation, that God would guide him to the right one soon, and also for prayers for M’s grandmother, who fell the other day and tore a ligament. 10/22 Update – M’s grandmother is healing well. She is mostly mobile now (on crutches), and occasionally has bouts of bad pain. They praise God for the healing and humbly request additional healing. Random Dave reports no real change on his job situation. He continues to pray for God to make the path known as he applies, and periodically deal with “good” interviews that end up going nowhere. 9/18 – Brother Tim posted that he has been overnight in his car more than indoors. He is convinced that his retirement/resignation was a severe error, a result of fatigue and depression. He asks for prayers. 10/17 – Bother Tim posted that he has been in the hospital for 3 weeks. 10/10 – Just Some Guy asked for prayers for his former work colleague, who had a heart attack and stroke. 10/10 – Mile, okravangelist, requested prayers for Mama Publius, for grace and fortitude, and that she passes in her sleep. Mama Publius is in home hospice care. 10/24 Update – Mama Publius passed away this past week. 10/14 – NR Pax requested prayers for a friend, whose husband died on 10/10 after a long illness. 10/17 – Pooky’s Girl posted that she is in the hospital, because Wee Pooky is threatening to come early at 30 weeks. 10/24 Update – Pooky’s Girl’s contractions have been stopped. She is at 31 weeks along, so every week that Wee Pooky stays put is less time in the NICU. 10/31 – Annie’s Stew (and, I assume, all the Horde) ask for God’s blessings on Misanthropic Humanitarian as he steps away from the blog. We thank him for his service to the Horde and to Christ’s Kingdom. 10/31 – ChristyBlinkyTheGreat requested prayers that her mother’s eventual passing into heaven be in peace as she sleeps, without any pain or fear. She thinks it will be in the next few weeks or months, as she is approaching 96 years old. 11/4 – Teresa in Fort Worth sent an update that she is not feeling well. Every muscle and bone hurts, on top of the fatigue and weakness she was already experiencing. The nurse at UTSW thinks it may be due to receiving chemo on top of radiation, on the same day. The good news is that the CA19-9 number is 4.9, below the threshold of 37. This was her twelfth chemo treatment, marking a year since she started this protocol. She is worried that it may be a preview of how she will feel when the cancer starts to take over. For submission guidelines, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at: apaslo at hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. I always feel silly asking for anything on this thread, as so many have it so much worse. But here goes:
I was watching 1944s Hollywood Canteen the other night. It's a wonderful, funny and touching movie, but I had to stop halfway through because it was like a knife in my heart. It was, as I said, a funny movie - happy, smiling and innocent in a way real life never is, but how "Hollywood life" is. I couldn't stop crying, comparing that life with my own, and wishing I could live in that sunny, carefree world. If anyone could spare a thought for my self-loathing and chronic depression, I would appreciate it. Keeping the 'happy mask' on is very tiresome. And again, apologies for asking when so many of you are hurting so much more. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing (aka Eloquent Depression) at November 07, 2026 07:38 AM (qRla/) 11

Final airshow of the season here today at NAS Pensacola, home of the Blue Angels.
They flew yesterday with only five instead of the usual six. That is because Blue Angels No. 6 (opposing solo), Maj. Scott Laux, has been booted from the team for "failure to uphold the standards expected of a Blue Angels member." He's no longer listed on the Blue Angels website. Also no longer listed on the website is the Blue Angels' Public Affairs Officer, Capt. Danielle Cribb, who has previously described Maj. Scott Laux as her "mentor" on the team. Doesn't take much reading between the lines on that one. Posted by: one hour sober at November 07, 2026 07:57 AM (J4Dwc) 31

The "cure" for my depression when I was there was to realize that it's the normal state of affairs. It isn't something wrong with you or something to fix, necessarily. You actually do suck. I suck. We all suck. Humans suck. The Universe sucks. You're not automatically awesome just for being. You don't deserve all that is good just because you were shat into this world through no doing of your own. You're made in your Creator's image, and your Creator is the guy whose last two attempts to create friends for Himself resulted in Satan and then us rotten reprobates who hate His guts regardless, too.
You're not supposed to gaze inward upon yourself and feel a rush of joy and light and loveliness. You're supposed to feel crappy, because we are, constitutionally, crappy. So either wallow in the crap, or look back at your Creator and say to Him "Oh, wow, I get it. No wonder this world is so awful. It's swarming with awful things like me". And then go out and try to make at least one or two things about this world we have to share with Him a little less intolerable just so you and maybe someone else can get through today somehow. You can't fix it, but you can make it better. Posted by: Warai-otoko at November 07, 2026 08:03 AM (aKiSo) 38

Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at November 07, 2026 07:45 AM (b8Otf) Not exactly a zombie movie, more like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but- We saw a Japanese horror movie streaming on Shudder titled, "New Group". It kinda fits in with the events of this week. The story is set in a Japanese high School where one boy is seen in the school yard on his hands and knees. Soon other students are joining the form a gymnastic pyramid. The school officials begin supporting the student pyramid and it grows larger and larger as it attracts more people. And then things get weird. This is one of those individual vs the group stories. I won't tell you that it's a great movie, but it's entertaining in WTF way and definitely keeps your interest as you want to see how things work out. You'll probably be surprised. Check it out. You actually do suck.
-- ^^^ Hey, bumper sticker stuff right there! Not to belabor the point on depression, but I find nothing as powerful as turning to G*d for mercy, comfort and a release of the negativity that sometimes engulfs me. I eventually climb out of it with His love and I truly believe, truly believe that when I berate myself with horrible insults for even the most minor things, it comes directly from the Devil...who wants me in despair and anguish. Through prayer, G*d gives me my ladder out. He is the only one that can. Posted by: Lady in Black at November 07, 2026 08:12 AM (qBdHI) 46
It helps to remember you weren't put here to be a happy. It helps a *lot.*
It also helps to understand why so much is so fucked up. People striving against nature for something they can never have has led to an awful lot of destruction, only to make them and everyone else more, not less miserable. Paradoxically, once you accept this, you'll be considerably more satisfied with life than when you lunging at shadows, because you realize just how lucky you are to have escaped the worst miseries. Most of us stumbled ass backwards into a pretty good deal, all things considered. You could have been an aboriginal huffing petrol in the outback. You could have been a child soldier defending some warlord's control over a kimberlite pipe. You could have been Lena Dunham. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at November 07, 2026 08:14 AM (BI5O2) 47

I am my own worst critic, and I say such horrible things to myself about myself I'd never say to another person.
Are you trolling for people to bring on the Smack Down? Truthfully, there are upsides to being your own worst critic. It is a cure for narcissism. It indicates a level of self-reflection; yearning for being better today than yesterday; a set of immutable standards. From the spiritual standpoint, having that inner monologue of the Sinner's Prayer must also include the hope and promise of redemption and restoration else there is that dark spiral. I pity those without faith since Science!™ tells them that it is simply unbalanced serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine — its all in the mind, have a psychotropic subscription. From my prayerbook
Hashem: We ask Your blessings for our country - for its government, for its leaders and advisors, and for all who exercise just and rightful authority. Teach them insights from Your Torah, that they may administer all affairs of state fairly, that peace and security, happiness and prosperity, justice and freedom may forever abide in our midst. Creator of all flesh, bless all the inhabitants of our country with Your spirit. May citizens of all races and creeds forge a common bond in true harmony, to banish hatred and bigotry, and to safeguard the ideals and free institutions that are the pride and glory of our country. May the land, under Your providence, be an influence for good throughout the world, uniting all people in peace and freedom - helping them to fulfill the vision of Your prophet: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nations, neither shall they experience war any more." And let us say: Amen. Posted by: San Franpsycho at November 07, 2026 08:21 AM (RIvkX) 56

I’m blessed not to have suffered from this, but have had more than one close family member who I love that have. So I know what it is, and how it grinds a good person down. You no doubt have heard all the standard replies a thousand times. Of course I don’t know your personal beliefs, but a story of Elijah from 1 Kings always struck me. Elijah, one of God’s greatest prophets, fell into a deep depression, told God he was through, and asked God to take his life, he was done. That’s as good and short of a description of deep depression as you’ll find, and it happened to one of the greatest prophets ever. What happened next is the most surprising part - he wasn’t rebuked, he wasn’t told this was a sin. He wasn’t told he was wrong, he wasn’t told to straighten out. He spoke to Elijah in a still small voice and said “You know, I’ve still got a few things I want you to do here. And you’ve still got 7000 supporters you don’t know about. And most of all, I’m about to do some things that will astound you, you’re going to be amazed!” Posted by: Tom Servo at November 07, 2026 08:24 AM (oH6g4) 59

Good morning
Up way earlier than usual. Spent the first hour lying in bed trying to go back to sleep feeling off center. This week was really hard on my sense of well being. Like we did everything right but still got screwed. So, I come to this place and find out I am not alone after all. That it is normal to question purpose.. Every life has stages. Still trying to figure out this one. Posted by: Sharon(willow's apprentice) at November 07, 2026 08:30 AM (kJmSS) 70

Teach them insights from Your Torah, that they may administer all affairs of state fairly, that peace and security, happiness and prosperity, justice and freedom may forever abide in our midst.
They can concentrate on the words of the Midianite priest and Moses' father in law Jethro when providing delegation advice. What we have now is the complete and total opposite. Posted by: Community Notes at November 07, 2026 08:33 AM (a4flb) 72
Any time you're depressed about relationship things (family, romantic, any human relationship really), just think about how it all started. God created an entire Universe for one man, whose only job was to be His friend and live in literal Paradise... and then that guy said "this is dumb, i'm bored, make me a friend so i'm not lonely".
Imagine the heartache. Posted by: Warai-otoko at November 07, 2026 08:33 AM (aKiSo) 73

Did the democrats name it blue tsunami? If so they are even more incompetent and inept than previously imagined, if possible. Tsunamis are destructive, negative things. It sounds powerful and cool but in reality it causes upheaval, death and despair. So maybe they picked aptly after all.

So (D) think they control everything.
They may have less power now than before as now they MUST do something other than bitch. It is an almost impossible action as the things they are FOR would require them to MAKEOVER 3 major industries: 1. Healthcare $5.3 T system 360 M subscribers and 13 M providers. (Currently includes $550 B/yr in fraud and would double in first year of Mediscare/All) 2. Digital Economy $4.9 T system that can move anywhere by adding a mile or 2 of fibre. (AI and Datacenters need land and energy and the country that provide the best values WINS) 3. Higher Ed $1 T 20 M subscribers and 10,000 providers trying to create value (workers) in our $45 T economy. (See #2 and the Trades, Trades have forced many local schools to provide math/reading/thinking skill needed to build things and that leaves ZERO room for DEI and the Social Studies) Posted by: r hennigantx at November 07, 2026 08:44 AM (/+uur) 87

Take a drive and enjoy some beautiful scenery. Hollywood is not real. Remember that you got some shout outs on your recent novel! We met at the old train station a few years ago. It was memorable in a positive way. You have so many people here that respect you. Endeavor to persevere, as the saying goes.... We love you here.

We met with the oncologist and Mrs. Lloyd's chemo has been halted indefinitely until they figure out the abdominal swelling. She is still doing the drug therapy. The doctor said that there is not clear data on how effective partial treatments of chemo are, and where the curve lies in terms of odds of recurrence. It may be an even progression and it may have plateaus. I don't think the data isn't there, but no one ever compiled it. Weird. Anyhow, the lesson is that we truly are in a spiritual war and the demons are very much active in this. God permits the wicked to prosper to call the faithful to repentance. MP4 I will pray for you. Also my btdt story:
In my own life, beginning a single daily practice is what eventually turned my depression around. You will laugh, but it was listening to a Christian music station while driving. So the music is mid, but they always interspersed with little Christian anecdotes etc. So one day while listening while driving, and at the stoplight, I just burst into tears. I had such a feeling of needing God, like an empty hole in my chest. After that I started consuming religious media. Then I started praying daily. Eventually, I went to confession. This process took years. Last year I found a Catholic therapy practice. It didn't have to take years though lol. Anyway, thank you KLOV radio. Even though I don't listen anymore, you changed my life. Better to have this wonderful Scripture in context to explain why we are beaten, but not broken:
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that His life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. We can endure because Jesus, the long hoped for Messiah, The Christos Posted by: Going Forward at November 07, 2026 08:54 AM (iwBbL) 102
