Muslim Brotherhood Congratulates Abdulrhaman Mohamed El-Sayed for Working on Behalf of "the Islamic World" by Working Within "the [Infidel] Political System"

Huh! And I was told it was racist to say that Abdulrhaman Mohamed El-Sayed was working on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood for international Islam.

Is it racist when the Muslim Brotherhood says it, or nah?

Plus: Ooof.

I don't know if that's true, obviously, and I don't know what the reasons for resignation would be.

Oh! I just figured it out. If Rubio and Dhillon planned on leaving anyway, it is critical they leave during the lameduck session of Congress when a Republican majority can still approve their successors.

Texas' new leftwing AG will definitely be attempting to bankrupt and imprison Elon Musk, so Ron DeSantis says the free state of Florida welcomes him.

It's a bitter pill that people need to flee Texas.

We've got some work to do.

8 The reasons for Rubio and Harmeet resigning? Obvious.

Zero pay. Zero pay increase. Completely thankless jobs. And more money than God waiting for them in the private sector.

And Rubio will probably run...

It's amazing they stuck to Trump through midterms...we'll see if the Senate will confirm their replacement before Jan 3, or if they both stay with actings for the next 2 years b/c the D senate will approve no one...

I think this and all other takes so far mentioned are equally valid.

Leaving now to get what mileage we still can out of a GOP majority is the smart move, and hopefully this was being planned well in advance.

But I would go further and say that the Trump brand not only took a huge hit, it is effectively dead. On a lot of the Internet (surely others besides me have seen this), Trump is being personally blamed for Tuesday, by people who, to all appearances, have been fully on board with him since '15-'16. Not everyone, but it seems clear to me that he no longer dominates the conservative movement the way he did 72 hours ago.

He looks straight out of CIA Central Casting. Bush in a blond wig.

This is what was on offer from the GOP while Democrats brought strength, youth, energy and fire. All the things Kamala didn't have and they all mysteriously appeared in June with the sudden appearance of the DSA. I said it was an op, I told people what was going on, I just didn't think it was going to move as fast as it did. I thought they were clearing the deck for 2028. Well they were.

Most of the policies are working, some take a long time to show results. Some of those results may be visible, even to the dumbed-down electorate marinating in media nonsense, by 2028.

Some of those results are already visible. Border/immigration. Crime. Inflation. Economic growth. Real wage increases.

176 Like in every election the past 20 years, I am convinced this is only a partial reflection on the actual mood of the country.

Yes, at the margins people are dissatisfied. Yes, the administration is to blame for bad optics, bad messaging, and bad results.

But I think mostly this is about who got voters to the polls. The Dems have a machine that turns tribes (muslims, indians, gays, young, trans, ....) into registrations, and registrations into votes. They are getting stronger at this and Rs are not.

The Left also live in a media bubble, also getting worse due to algorithms. The media were people get information is against the Right, and Trump especially. So they are fine turning the country into a shithole

This is not about migration, or corruption or even the war, it is about who can turn regs into votes. The Dems know that if you give them a dirty voter roll they can pump out as many votes as they need to win. They have honed that skill. They then produce polls to legitimatize the results

I don't know how to fix this as it is not exactly fraud. Some of it is, but mostly it is tribalism. These tribes have very high turnout and very strict adherence to the party.

I think Texas has a lot of root causes, and none of it can be distilled down to 1. But the biggest issue is the Republican Party running the organization like the country club from 1962. When you refuse to change, you do things the way they have always been done, you go extinct. And yes, if you created a situation where it seems like it makes zero difference who you vote for, people say why bother. We gave the RNC a gift of the house, the senate and the presidency. Thune did absolutely nothing with it. In fact, he allowed no recess appointments and stalled everything we voted for. We have very smart people on this very site who were saying just this. Stubborn and misguided? Maybe. But here we are.

242 Some light here (Red Turban, "...."), but wow the make-believe is something.

Pre- and exit-polling shows nothing resembling the imaginary grievances driving votes. 40% Hispanics (and this is an ominous data point, and is due to Trump actually fulfilling a key campaign promise that got him elected) were most concerned about ICE/deportations. Economic concerns second. "War" nowhere on the list.

Too much silliness to address, but the notion that a DeSantis could win MI or WI - when only the unique figure that Trump is has done it, in decades - is close to far-fetched.

Didn't believe Rubio would be leaving - why would he? - and he's got a lot of work still to do. Cuba. Can't see him leaving while that white whale is visible and vulnerable. 258 It would be nice to see people actually perform some analysis and make arguments, rather than insisting their own leanings were correct all along.

I'll use TX as an example because that's where I live. The GOP there had a good night for a midterm election. Paxton's vote total was essentially the same as Cruz's in 2018, when Cruz beat O'Rourke. The difference this time around was that Talarico's numbers looked more like senate votes totals in a presidential election year like 2024 (they were between Cruz's and Allred's vote totals for that year). You don't need to take my word for it; that data is all readily available on the internet.

So how did Dems do that?

There's multiple ways it could have happened, one of which is that Dems simply mobilized their base very well this year. If that's true, this wasn't a repudiation of Trump (or anyone else) in any real sense, as the Dem base is just made up of the opposition, which has always disapproved.

There are other possible explanations, of course. But we ought to be looking for data to see what is the best explanation. Because responding well requires us to first correctly identify the problem.

272 The Left did some serious grass roots organizing. I know for a fact in MO. Pretty sure in KS too. Wouldn't be surprised if they did it in every red state.

We held onto the old model of "the polls are wrong" and [Insert State/District] went +X for Trump last time, so we're all good, and you're silly for even asking.

We have NEVER been good at organizing, and don't even have the infrastructure for it. It takes more than winning the argument, it takes work. And I don't know if any of these rich donors have made any strides on even laying the groundwork for organizing infrastructure.

He did the things but he didn't sell it or the message didn't penetrate.

Trump was elected to do politically difficult but necessary things. Securing the border is ugly. Fighting Iran is costly. Taking on special interests upsets donors. Backing AI scares people. Tonight, Republicans paid the costs. The benefits will be with us for many generations.

Two more years to go, 100% of the important policies are entirely executive branch/EO-based. Congress can only vandalize around the edges.

Most of the policies are working, some take a long time to show results. Some of those results may be visible, even to the dumbed-down electorate marinating in media nonsense, by 2028.

Some of those results are already visible. Border/immigration. Crime. Inflation. Economic growth. Real wage increases.

They have a hodge podge of niche groups with their own single issue (many of which are diametrically opposed to other niche groups in the DEM party), so they can't land on a solid platform.

337 Oh, and ICE & being so mean!

SNOPES, Fact Check, Feb. 9, 2026, 67 people died in ICE custody during Obama's presidency. That's not the full story
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is required by law to report whenever a detained person in its custody dies.
----
Under the Joe Biden administration, approximately 105 individuals died in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody across its four-year term (2021–2024), according to tracking and reporting cited by organizations such as Democracy Now!. Other watchdog groups and reports (such as Prism Reports) have specifically documented individual cases and systemic concerns regarding medical neglect, solitary confinement, and inadequate facility care during that period.

Not counting the "kids in cages" under those U.S..Presidents.

Where have been the surrogates for this administration?!!

For heaven sakes, even Melania Trump is trying to negotiate Ukraine-Russian peace!

People vote feels. Democrats had a confluence of something and milked it. And most importantly the GOP *did not change or adapt*. They ran essentially all the same people they would have without Trump being born.

D's stole it from Pratt because Pratt could have put a monkey wrench in their plan. Same with Hong and Platner I am guessing. It was a very brisk psy op. Trump left openings and they stormed through them. But there is nothing he could really do about "affordability". Even without tariffs they did eggs forever. Then beef. Whatever they needed.

Posted by: rickb223 at November 05, 2026 12:59 PM (mISmA)

Fraud is a possible explanation. I don't think it's the correct one this time. The TX wipeout is generally consistent with the GOP losing almost everywhere across the country, which would be a lot of fraud to pull off in an environment no more friendly to fraud than 2024, when we won. The races were even close in FL, where we did win, and FL has done lots of good work cleaning up its elections. And, specific to TX, the GOP lost the state's lower legislative chamber; those house seats are spread out; urban blue fraud cannot really account for the loss of the TX house, I don't think.

I remain open to the possibility. In 2020, we could point to specific badges of fraud though (simultaneous shutdown of vote counts in thr middle of the night, 81 million votes for Biden, which Dems have not been able to replicate) but I'm not seeing obvious signs here. Am I wrong?

379 Re changing slogans

The color assignments were often reversed, but they actually rotated for decades depending on the television network. The permanent association of Red for Republicans and Blue for Democrats was cemented during the 2000 presidential election.

Because the election was unresolved on election night and the recount dragged on for five weeks, Americans stared at the exact same electoral maps on television and in print every single day. That year, major print outlets like The New York Times and USA Today, along with the broadcast networks, happened to universally use red for Bush (Republican) and blue for Gore (Democrat).

And maybe you can also remember the slogan Better Red than Dead during the Cold War era.
