Hard day today stewarding at the Cypress Creek KC show. Got to the ring at 7:55 this morning and left it at 4:30. Full slate of 175 dogs and I had to handle it all by myself. The judge was very complimentary about my work. It was by no means perfect, but I got everyone in the ring efficiently. But Diana was Best of Breed today in her first show in a couple of years. Her Majesty had to handle her and Diana didn't turn in a disciplined effort, but she's showy and happy and that counts for a good deal. I’ve been noting how upset by this many friends are, and I do sympathize with all of them. But as to myself, I keep thinking of a scene from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, a 2018 Coen Bros movie. In this scene (and it makes sense in the context of the film) James Franco plays a criminal who’s standing on the gallows with a rope around his neck, about to be hung. Another criminal, a younger man is to be hung with him, and he’s sniffling and crying a little.
Franco looks over at him, grins a bit and says “First time, eh?” That’s pretty much how I’ve been feeling about it. Posted by: Tom Servo at November 06, 2026 07:59 PM (oH6g4) Posted by: Anonosaurus Wrecks, Now Is the Winter of Our Discontent at November 06, 2026 08:00 PM (ndZc7) 36

That’s pretty much how I’ve been feeling about it. Posted by: Tom Servo While extremely disappointed, I'm actually surprised how (relatively) unbothered I am. I was way more upset at the 2020 results, but it all worked out for the best, as Trump 2.0 has been MUCH better than a continuation of 1.0 would have been. We've survived (and ignored) Dem congresses before, and the Republicans in congress weren't doing much. I'm a little more upset we lost so many state governors, as that will have more significant ramifications. Still, the economy is actually doing well, Trump will keep deporting, and the Iran war has to wrap up before 2028, so I think we'll be in a good position for that election. Dems will infight, squabble, overreach and terrify the electorate, while Trump's seeds will hopefully be bearing fruit. We win the presidency in 2028, oversee the census...might do well. So I've been saying since the DSA psy op appeared in June that things were going to get very weird. And that we were being set up with a phony war between the DNC and DSA.
Equally I have observed all year that we were being set up by the Left for needing a (previously scheduled) masculine manly man for president in 2028, and that it was over for women. So, laugh at me and feel free to bookmark this or whatever, but at the moment I will say that it is looking to these eyes like we have been set up - for President El Sayed. The lesson learned this week was that the Dems muffed it in 2016 and 2024, and decided this year they were going to go all out in the cheat. And they will do so going forward no matter what the nominees think (2016 "I wont have my victory tainted by any hint of cheating") (2024 "I have all the celebrities!"). The destruction of America is too important to be left to whims.

Great ONT. All of it. Enjoyed Thelma and Louise. Elder son's first rescue (ath pit mix), Emma, died from a porcupine in the mountain backyard of his brother's. Horrific. She fought til the end and the vet tried to save her. Lungs kept collapsing from the quills moving in her bloodstream (I had no idea). Their first baby. Now they have a GIANT white dog they thought was a lab rescue. Mostly husky without curly tail. I think Moose stands almost 6'. Sweet Mason reminded me of our Shelby in looks. English Golden's have wider heads. Shelby's mane touched the ground before grooming. Gorgeous boy. Bailey, son's first Golden, Bailey, babysat but was not as good as Lucy. DIL was showering once and had the baby asleep on a blanket in the doorway of bedroom and bath. She has a photo of Bailey looking at her irritated, like, "Well, you weren't going to watch him, so I am." Their Goldens are so good with kids. Baby grandgirl grabs fist fulls of fur and Penny doesn't care...and she's the most hyper of our Golden's. Great with kids. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at November 06, 2026 09:11 PM (hzuYO) 99

Dave Grohl said that was his favorite song. He dud a decent cover of it. But the original was better.

---- The original was better for sure. If I remember correctly, Grohl made a lyric change that was silly: "He's got some thoughts about buying some land He's gonna give up the meth and the one night stands..." Posted by: Crusader at November 06, 2026 09:20 PM (Cjcf6) 109

It may be a record for me, but I will probably see two movies in a month. Today, spouse and I saw a film based on Jimmy Stewart's time as a bomber pilot in WWIi , his dealing with the psychological trauma from that and his playing in "It's a wonderful life". I highly recommend it.
Later this month , "I play Rocky" is coming out ,based on Sylvester Stallone's attempt to get the film made and to star in it. "Rocky " was a fine film and apparently this is a really fine one too. Here's a rather long review, but a good one from "National Catholic Register" It stresses the themes of faith and resiliency. Important in these times, right? https://tinyurl.com/yb24fphv Posted by: FenelonSpoke at November 06, 2026 09:25 PM (JrHfD) 111
Love Gerry Rafferty! The song after it is dedicated to my bf/husband.
Eldest son is a professional saxophone player. In 9th grade he was first chair, beating out others in the 2k HS. Good looking guy. Through sons we learned a lot of music, jazz, and orchestra. Imagine my horror and cringe when HS girls were almost screaming during his solos that first concert. Like he was a Beatle. I wanted to die or something. He played through college, and in a jazz/fusion band in Gainesville with more girls swooning. First degree a jazz something with a goal to play in the pit in NYC Broadway plays. We hoped he would not be busking in subways. Was recruited by Glenn Miller for Japan. He did go on a Broadway musical tour of Ray Charles. Got that traveling out of the way and got another degree in music education along with the jazz. Taught HS band/jazz at two huge FL high schools for almost a decade. Now a systems engineer as he started with pre-med. It was worth it, I tell him (now), to have both worlds. He put us through a bit of angst and flushed money down the toilet, but he lived and is now married and doing well. We pray for a baby for them as they want this badly. The real lesson from Blade Runner 2049 is don’t make a sequel to a 40 year old masterpiece.

Just confirmed that Mr. trouble would prefer to sleep inside tonight. It's 36 out and the alternative is sleeping under the house with the possums.
